To everyone who said Docherty isn't ready, welcome aboard....
Glad to see, Menzel, Buckley and Docherty get their chance and take it with both hands..
Pitty about Cripps, will bounce back. Hopefully Graham gets a few continuous games to see
where he sits..
Armfield can play the shutdown role that carrazzo and curnow play, bit more pace than those two also,
just lacks the composure but worth persisting with.
Gee I hope we draft a key forward that can play, would go along way to help out Henderson..
A win is a win but we still have a bit of work still to do, makes going to work that bit easier...

Seen us lose too many of these type of "should win" games. So, I'm more happy then I am disappointed today! There is heaps of improvement needed but there was also periods that got me really excited.

At last someone agrees Henderson CHB...Walker up forward....

..don't agree, hendo moved well and while he didn't get much of it, neither did their best defender.. ..he doesn't get outmarked, he provides space for others to work in.. ..walker might need to be allowed to run more yes..

Walker is a bit of a liability down back. He perceives pressure when there isn't any, and doesn't detect it when there is. This makes him the anti-defender ... He needs to play to his strength which is stamina and running. Get him up on the wing moving into the forward line where he no longer has to hit targets coming out of the back half.

imo, Henderson is a better defender. If we can somehow land a ready to go CHF type in the offseason (GWS?), with Casboult's improvement and another year of Waite to help out, I see us having a really functional forward line.

Just on Casboult. He's coming on. He gets up around the logos and is making himself a big target. Not pretty, just workmanlike. A bit like Dawes.

Port Adelaide's Jarman Impey the round 8 #nabaflrisingstar after his defensive effort on Fremantle's Hayden Ballantyne.

Sheesh, sounds like they'd already decided it before last night. Menzel a bit stiff.

White one week at worst, but expect a reprimand.
Murphy no case to answer. The MRP say "if you choose to bump and hit the head you're in trouble". Murphy didn't choose to bump, the contact was accidental and he was attempting to pull up in the split second he had.

IMO

I agree. I think there's a very good case to say he didn't make any choice at all in the entire process. He never shaped to bump at any stage, he was simply entering the contest. In fact once he understood contact was likely/inevitable, he did everything possible to minimise contact. I'd be surprised if he gets a week for that.

Not a great game but good to see a win

Positives

Great to see menzel buckley Docherty all making valuable contributions - swap hampson for Docherty pre-season was a good one

Yarran was excellent and has been one of our best all season - everitt continues to do the job and another good get

gibbs simpson and murph all good

Can I also make a special mention of Rowe -I am probably his harshest critic - ie banging on about not being afl standard - but has played well the last 3 weeks and may be I should change my assessment - what was good last night was that he played within his limitations

Good to see Jamison getting a goal

Good to see Army back -his pace and tenacity are welcomed

Negatives
I still support getting Thomas but it was almost like Mick was hiding him in the forward line
dreadful third quarter
very inconsistent team
Warnock has played well this year but the fact that hedidnt take a mark against 2 rookie ruckmen is damning

Casboult - kicking for goal - better than before but 1 goal from all the shots he had is an indictment

Monday night football is shocking - the club should tell the AFL we don't want to play the Aints again on Monday night

Also, revolt was pushed at the last second by Rowe further into that space that Murphy was planning to occupy

I gave up watching during the third quarter. What a shit game it was, both teams are tripe.

In saying that the kids did well, Docherty was impressive.

I know they're unpredictable at best but I really don't think Murphy will go for that.

I don't even think white will go. Accidental contact because the rookie moved in front of him.

Robinson though ... he'll go for striking. 2 weeks I reckon.

Good to see the kids and new additions in Docherty, Menzel, Buckley and Everitt doing ell.
Rowe and White, who were close to being delisted last year, playing solidly down back.
Yazz playing out of his skin and Levi improving.
Warnock is more tenacious at the contests
Signs of a rebuild / rejuvenation of the side without it being labeled a rebuild.

If last night teaches us nothing else, it is that Menzel should never again wear the substitutes vest. I’m not usually a Malthouse critic, but his decision to start Menzel as the sub last week places him morally somewhere between a Rwandan gorilla poacher and a back-alley Collingwood prostitute... http://www.footyalmanac.com.au/monday-night-menzel//

If Lecras and Roughead only got 1 week, surely murph couldn't be suspended with his good record
