The inconsistent slow Blues.

I remember not long ago we had the speed to rip teams apart when we had the ball.
We were always shithouse defensively.

Now we have no speed. Yarran can break lines but his decision making and kicking usually means he hands it back to the opposition. That's probably got to do with the lack of options he's got to kick to.

In: Hardness and speed for our midfield. cupboard bare! oh well, then its Waite Yarran Cripps Carrazzo Ellard

WTF is going on with Garlett, Armfield, Walker? We need them in form and breaking lines.

Saints will bounce back this week. They do tackle a lot and we can't handle that sort of pressure. Plus they have a match winner.

Hendo and Waite need to kick 10 to give us a chance.

I don't think we are a slow team in terms of leg speed

it's more about our deplorable skills and decision making that is killing us

We're not that fast, imo ... Yarran, Buckley, Murphy are fairly quick, then we have a big drop off into the lumbering one-speed mids and swingmen.

Deplorable skills, no awareness and running scared, sure that's a huge factor too. But perhaps the biggest factor is there's no options down the ground to go to. When we come against the good teams, we flood back, which is fine.

But our lack of want to then escape and spread forward once we get the ball is not there. Time and time against the pies, we'd get the ball and look to play on, only to look up the field and nobody was moving into space. Nobody was moving full stop!

We are a mess.

Doc Larkins saying Waite & Carrazzo both with back related issues so don't expect much from them if they play

I love Monday night football when we play. Four Corners, Media Watch, Q&A followed by Lateline. Check score before bed and sleep like a baby. Win or loose we are seriously [REDACTED].

Agree re: rushing players back straight into the seniors. Carrazzo back through the NB's when/if he returns. Form hasn't warranted his place. Another year to go with his contract...

Hopefully Yazz is back but we don't want a repeat of the last Monday he played after a hamstring worry.

We've only won games when we've had 3 talls up fwd.

Be interesting to see if Lucas plays, or again in a CFC jumper off that performance on Friday. Garlett needs another rev. Scotland can have a rest if we need to make way for others.

Buckley, Menzel, Docherty to play full games. Re-enter Cripps and any others pressing which sounds like only Johnson or Holman.

It's about playing on merit... Cripps, Holman, Graham etc. instead of rushing back Carrazzo and Judd

I am happy to see these guys continue racking up games in the VFL. Graham is not up to AFL standard yet and probably needs another pre-season. Cripps and Holman are first year players. Cripps will get another opportunity however I am happy to see him get the ball, play 4 quarters and develop in the VFL this year. No rush for these kids to be smashed and bashed in the AFL. They are first year players.

Giving Menzel a full game... maybe at the expense of Garlett

I agree with this, however I am sure he is being used as a sub because of his fitness. There is no point playing kids who can't run out 4 quarters. We only have one sub.

Hornet wrote:
It's preferring Dockerty in place of Scotland when Yaz comes back

Docherty hasn't been playing due to his fitness. He is still building. When fit he will be in out best 22.

Hornet wrote:
Remember last year when the forum experts drew a line through Buckley? Not good enough... will never make it. Northern Blues form isn't always indicative of a players value and kids can make huge strides by playing alongside more experienced team mates.

Buckley had to work on his fitness. That is what a pre-season can do for you. His fitness has improved much better than last year. Don't be surprised if Buckley's second half of the season goes back to the standard it was last year. The kids often fatigue by the end of the year.

Should be $1.45.

For those who say MM's game plan is irrelevant in today's footy. Have a look at GC against Kanga's today and how it work with the right cattle. Jeez GC are developing fast.

That's what happens when you get a whole heap of high pics, pick the right players, and develop them correctly

and have a real captain who keeps running in dangerous positions... give and receive.. give and receive... never stops.. and runs deep causing havoc

Yep. Impressive weren't they. McKenna learnt a lot as a player and assistant coach under MM.

St Kilda's winning culture will prevail. Better team, better coach, better captain, better culture, better tackles. They love laying out tackles, wrapping themselves around, and pounding.
