Rowe won't play round 1.

I will be interested to see if Warnock and Kreuzer play. I think they both will.

Hoping we have Waite and Hendo as our key forwards with Kreuzer in and out. Then guys like Garlett, Menzel, Thomas, Everitt, Yarran and Robinson all having time there. Not a bad set up.

Watson and Jamison and McInnes/White to hold up the key defensive roles with Everitt, Simpson, Tuohy, Walker and Gibbs to run through.

See on paper it reads ok..

the issue though isnt our fwds or backs - its the inability to win a clearance....has been for 2 years

Ranked 3rd last year for clearance difference to the opposition and 6th in 2012.

The problem is persisting with a moribund gameplan which involves taking the conservative long kick down the line route instead of being one where the long kick is an option as well as the short 45 degree kick back into the corridor or the big switch. The long kick down the line may be predictable for Carlton players but it's also very predictable to the opposition who put the extra number down back and then have players quickly spreading into the corridor or opposite wing while Carlton players are not in a position to defend.

Waite was good yesterday
Kicked 3 goals 1 and aside from Menzel only forward that looked dangerous
Waite and Menzel have to play in my view so we kick a winning score given Hendo is underdone
Interesting Port keep saying Carlisle Schulz Gray and Trengove are all ready for the first round -can't see how they will be fit a bit like Hendo I suppose
Paul Stewart did a calf today so he won't be playing
Think we should win a point will do -beat port twice last year so good form line against them

Hendo at least played 4 quarters in the VFL, the Port players you named haven't played at all this year (Schulz only a half).

..even under done hendo can play, put him beside Waite, will help the resting ruck be dangerous as well, I thin krooz will do well with 2 kpf to play next to..

I would play both Warnock and Kreuzer, the teams look evenly matched and it is one area we can dominate and set up a win.

If it forces them to bring Renouf in at the last minute again I'm all for it.

There is something wrong with the promotion of the season....I seriously found out by accident today that the season starts this coming weekend....thought it was 2 weeks away. Suspect it's the abandonment of the nab cup....we all previously knew there'd be a weeks break after the gf, then the real thing.

Should be longer than that.

Yeah I'm on it.

I would have thought it'd be closer than that. $2.40 is good value.

Why the #@%k did the AFL schedule this game for a Sunday night at 7.40 pm...........they are spreading the round over 2 weeks, surely there were other times available........it means game finishes around 10.30 and with the usual Metro service, will have to wait half an hour for a train.....next day work or school for the kids..

Tuohy free to play if he accepts a reprimand:

+ 1 to that Miss N.

Looking at this years fixture the AFL's not fussed about families attending Carlton games,
(not those that live in the country anyway).

Yup. Hate the Sunday night fixture.

Don't even really like the Monday night fixture!

No evidence we have overcome our mental hangups with this ground either.
Can only think of the StKilda game 2010? as a convincing win there.

I'm feeling pretty meh about the season and our first game too. Sunday at 7:40 pm is a terrible timeslot. I'm a fully paid up member but cause of my feelings on the season and the timeslot I don't want to go. I think I'll watch the game in the comfort of my home and see how we go! It's pretty sad since I do love footy heaps.
