But the 7 above could tear a game apart

Good list of players who regularly tore games apart

(Although I am not sure which games played by Judd you are referring to. I class Judd as a different type of player)

There was one in Sydney in the wet that instantly come to mind

the other players you listed tore games apart far more often than that

(whilst we are on single game performances, I recall Diesel collecting 36 possessions in a state of origin game one year - he was carrying a slight injury and only played the second half)

A bit slow getting around to reading this, but I have to say some supporters have had all the luck, seeing so many legends grace the field. Makes me feel rather sad for people of around my age who haven't seen anything close to greatness. I'm 24, and my list would be something like:
Silvagni
Judd
Kernahan
Bradley
Kouta
Fevola
Williams
Camporeale
Murphy
Stevens
Whitnall

It's worth keeping in mind that I really only caught the back end of Kernahan and Williams, and to a lesser extent Silvagni and Bradley. I'd really only classify Judd, Kouta & Fev as true game changers that I have witnessed in their prime. Hopefully there are a few more golden eras to come, coz to be honest fans around my age, or a few years younger, have been fairly well ripped off so far!

Just ran into Peter Busustow. Nice bloke ... and one of the most exciting players that wore the navy blue.

Pity he only played for 3 years (2 premierships). He had the best vertical leap of any player I have seen.

The only player I really wanted to see but missed was the Tiger, when he wore navy.

Out of interest, for those who saw the team in the 60's and 70's, why don't any of you have Robert Walls in your list? It's a genuine question, as I've never seen him play apart from grainy 1970 grand final footage. But he was meant to be a great. And I'd have thought you could fit both Sticks and Walls in the list if you wanted
wanted. So why does Walls miss out?

And the other one I have to ask about is Syd Jackson. Does he cross anyone's mind when you put your list together if you saw him play?

I have Walls in my list, and ahead of Sticks too.

Syd Jackson was a good player, but not a great, imo. He was a good finals player too, but wouldn't figure in my top 20. As a small forward, I would have him equal with Betts, only because we didn't get a chance to see Betts in big late September finals.

1. Nicholls - easily, by far, our best ever. It's not even a question for me. Stature, talent, trailblazer, great under pressure, leadership, toughness, quantity........
2. Jezza - brilliant, also a great finals player, also great under pressure, played awesomely at full forward, CHF, forward pocket, HFF, ruck-rover, HBF, and BP.
3. Doull - enough said
4. Johnston
5. Crosswell
6. Walls
7. Bradley
8. Williams
9. Fitzpatrick
10. Kernahan
11. Silvagni (Jnr)

Unlucky: Kouta, Southby, Fev, Swan McKay, Ashman, Judd, Crane, and others....
The first three are really unmovable for me. If you asked me again tomorrow, then 4 through 11 might easily change..... (what can I say?)

Geez Moshe give the kid a chance he's only played 6 games

Yes, but he's the 11th best 6-gamer I've seen.

We have the best superstars of any club by so far it's ridiculous.

Actually Hawthorn go alright in that space but no-one else is particularly close.

Without a shadow of a doubt in my mind, the greatest player in our long and illustrious history was the great allmighty John " Big Nick " Nicholls. And withoubt doubt the best player to don the old dark navy blue was the incomparable Alex Jesualenko.......................you could throw a blanket over the next 20 or so players i have seen, and i wouldnt insult any of the by rating one in front of another.I just reckon we have been blessed to witness such individual brilliance from such a vast array of super talented individuals.

The Carlton Football Club.......................Now Always Forever.
