One positive for me was the performance of Bell. Also I thought Tuohy did some good things and looked more composed than most of his teammates.
Too many players down tonight and the ground shape and slippery surface doesn't suit our strengths (and amplifies our weakness). We need smart inside mids with quick clean hands - too many just throw the ball on their boot and hope.
Casboult has a long way to go.

37,400 turn up. They had more at Geelong last week..

Ummm, pretty sure that's impossible with Skilled Stadium's capacity.

Well beaten in the midfield. Their hands are so quick & good. We have a lot to learn.
Levi a massive liability tonight.
Too many players with poor skills.
Waite very quiet until it was too late.
Brock too many kicks to nowhere in hope.

Hendo, good work. McInnes some good things but would be looking forward to a rest.

Need to run ahead with changes over the off-season but need to make the right changes (skilled, young players).

Make no mistake there is no quick fix to what MM has inherited. He knows it, but he will always back himself in. But we a years away from having a quality list. Our list is unbalanced and aging ... And we don't have many top liners ...

Poetic licence. Really trying to make a point. It's be pretty close though.
If it held 60,000 it would have been full.

And which people at the glorious club at Carlton is going to accept responsibility for this situation and fall on their sword?

Just got back from the game.

Just read this page of thread and agree with BIRDTOWN....I'm not a McInnes fan yet.

3 Amigos were missing. Yazz who OK, just.

Did things really change when Curnow went down....that's the pattern I felt.

Really missed Kreuzer to bowk over a few of their midfielders in the contest.

No system, not organised, no leaders other than the defenders...to a degree, but they were bombarded.

Annoying game.

Only one goal from a set shot from memory.

Says a lot about our hit & hope game plan.

Still I don't think anyone was under any illusions that we were somehow a top 4 team.

We all know changes are needed. We need an extra 20% of everything to start turning some of those encouraging performances into wins.

Looking forward to seeing who MM brings in.

Go Freo!

Seemed stronger, more balanced over the ball and had better ball handling than most. If he can refine his game he may turn into a very good player. Coaches should put a lot of time into him over the summer.

I liked the bit where he tried to iron out McVeigh with a cheap shot, missed and cleaned up a Blues player instead.

Anyone who thinks we're going anywhere with Casboult in the team is dreaming. Ignoring all his mobility and kickig issues, a forward with no idea when or where to lead is about as useful as tits on a bull.

Bell is only inches away from being pretty good for us. He splits the packs but just doesn't get enough of the footy to take with him. When that starts to happen, and it will, he will be a clearance monster.

Yep. To me, 2013 was always about Mick seeing what/who worked and didn't. Now that he's no longer hamstrung by poor list-management, poor player development, poor salary cap management and farcical contract situations from the previous group, it's what he does from this point on that will define his tenure at Carlton. The real work begins tomorrow.

The bonus is that he actually got to have a good look at them under the pressure cooker of finals matches.

We were never a top 4 side so the result was hardly a shock.

I look forward to seeing changes in the off season.
