The problem with Carlton though is that one night you hear Chris Judd say "We need people to come into the side who are competitors" and the next morning, you hear from a reliable source that the deal with Jack Watts and Carlton is as good as done.

yeah, my first thought when I heard that was, was that a shot across the list managements bow ?

We've done all the talk. No more needs to be said.
Any players that are finding things "tough" should be dealt with accordingly: Tough.

Malthouse won't F*** around and neither will McKay.
I just hope that they're not quite as reactive as us fans can be. Tell me what the big picture is and I'll listen.

25% list turnover should be/has to be the target this year.
No more Mr. Nice Guy.

Hope you're right. McKay hasn't been too impressive or ruthless so far.

If we get promoted to finals and we win the first one, Simpson will play his 200th in a final. Motivation to get us into the Prelim. Yes!

I am Sorry Nick Graham Fans, but last night this kid was totally Lost and did not fit the Category of a young talented Midfielder who might have a future....

He is too small, has a terrible disposal and the pressure was too much on him. I hope he can prove me wrong in years to come if he can survive the List cuts.

On a positive note, he did provide the most funniest moment of the game with his first disposal when he kicked the ball low and hard, and it hit the Skull of his teammate and rebounded back for an Essendon* attack LOOOL

I thought it was a bad team selection by Mick, leaving Ellard out when we badly needed some grunt in the middle and also leaving out the leading goal kicker of the team-Gartlett and letting him waste his time in the VFL.

Forget the Finals. List changes must begin soon.

We'll reward him by letting him carry the whole team by himself

We hear a lot of things which then leads us to believe a lot of things.

If Watts was to be procured, I'd like to know why.
I can't see it and hate to think what we could have possibly offered to have secured the deal at this early stage.

We're good tyre-kickers generally but won't have time to do so this year.
If we are to reel in favourable trades and look hard at FA, we best have got our shit together some time ago.

He was pretty bad last night. You would think in time he will become a bit more composed. I think he will be a good player. Has a lot of work to do though.

The issue is that for Watts is he coming to a club with a much better culture than Melbourne, especially when it comes to developing young talent?

Too small? He's 182 cm.
Mitchell is 179. Ablett is 182. Ball is 182. We're after Taylor Adams and he's 179.

Graham has good disposal but if the best you can do is to mark someone on the only three quarters of football you've seen of him, then................????

In fairness to yourself, this was far funnier:

What about assistant coaches harker?

Should Wiley stay? Barker?

How much say should MM have in who is appointed as assistants?

I have no idea.

I thought Williams was working hard and well with the mids and that Barker was stuffing around with the forwards last year.
Williams goes and Barker stays.

Unless I had advice from the club, it's too hard to make any call from the outside. We can but we may be right and we may just be wrong. Who knows?

One thing I do know though is that we are after a couple of specialist assistant coaches this year. Until appointments are announced it's really just guesswork.

172cm + a 10cm bouffant = 182cm

..unsure of the McLean injury, but if soft tissue out.. ..Robbo i can see merit.. ..Army stuffed a couple of chances but he works hard, took the game on and took on some responsibility, earlier this year we saw him kick enough to back him in.. ..AJ and Doogs not out?..

I agree - a bit more attention to the midfield is needed. Malthouse's selections are defensive first and then whatever second.

He brought in two defenders to replace two defenders

Duigan and Joseph for Walker and Bootsma

Carlton needs midfield runners - and due to poor recruiting there are few of those outside the present 22 worthy of selection. Unfortunately, Kane Lucas is about the only midfield line breaker outside the team they have, but he is flakey at times, so selecting him is a risk.

If Walker doesn't come in - Carlton have NO chance of winning this match. He provides a bit of steel to a brittle team mentally.

A bit of team exuberance after a goal is scored would be a good start. Get a bit demonstrative...there are too many play within your shell type players.

Either way, Port is a TEAM that I admire a lot right now. I have no problem with them winning. Wingard is fantastic, shame he won't be playing.
