So you reckon they thought more of us last year? Pfft.

They got out of gaol and they know it. Yes, they are probably having a gloat, that's what they do.

You just made my blood boil.....real bad.

Media, real Carlton supporters, Hawks supporters, enemy supporters all have said we got ripped off by the umpires in a huge way. Watch the apologies appear from Geishen next week. It cost us. We all would be happy campers if umpires didn't rip us off against Ess and Hawks. Didn't you.

It's about time someone stuck up for our club regarding the umpiring.
It's the first time I've heard him say boo against shit umpiring and it's been going on for years and yes we have been the victim of bad umpiring and I'm sick of it.

He cares...doesn't that move you? You make me so angry mate.

This is serious stuff....line in the sand. No one fears let alone respects Carlton much these days.
MM has more respect from the footy world than we do and I appreciate he will be heard.

Don't you respect the power his wisdom and stature has for our club?

Remember Hirdy when he copped the fine and how well they've been treated by umpires ever since?
The squeaky wheel gets the oil.

Show some respect for our club...right this minute I do not like one bit because I haven't got over the loss because of the umpires when we were also undermanned. The win would have proved that MM has made inroads with this list.

Howdy Bondi, Sorry I made you blood boil. I don't think Mick carrying on like that in the media about umpiring is the go. He looked like a rambling old idiot sore loser. Leave that to us fans.

The points about the doctors was well made but going on about the free kick count and sooking could have been done a lot better. In fact he didn't have to mention it at all. The media were already all over it. Everyone in the football world knew we were unlucky. A meeting with those who matter midweek on the quiet would be better and perhaps a little subtle something in the media to get them thinking but coming out kicking and screaming like he did was a bit embarrassing I felt. If I did that sort of thing as a kid my dad would have given me a two week ban and he wasn't even my coach.

From here Malthouse should apologise for heat of the moment comments but calmly make it known he is still after clarification on rules and heads up for the weekly change in rule interpretations.

Then he should come up with a way to get us to win games. Don't get mad get even !

My best mate took on a 3 month contract as MD of a medium sized company.
His first day in the job he was expected to sack 5 staff including mid managers.
He refused to do this because he wanted to know the ins and outs and where the failure was.

3 months later and each and everyone of those expecting the sack retained their jobs.
The CFO is gone as are 2 senior mangers....and the company has turned the corner within 3 months.

Who do you expect would be putting up players for trade when MM knew none personally other that from the Irish tour?

I thought that the board didn't think Ratts could take the team the next step, so the main issue for them was the coach not the list.

Give him a break would you.

The years wasted were with Ratts, so lets stick together and do this properly not hastily change for change sake. You do know that the Cloke chase was for real don't you?

It seems it is a bit of a waste this year, but who knows after the showing we made against Ess and Hawks and the highlighting of the umpire influence on the result things might change in the 2nd half and Carlton might be a place that attracts some class players to improve our list because of the improvement in our culture....things you may just write off as insignificant...but still important components of our improvement.

We want a flag. We want one next year so it's not the draft picks next year which may get us to a GF it's quality players ready to play for a GF opportunity.

What we have seen this year is that we are not far off the top 4 teams, so why not have a dip for that opportunity.

We are a better team this year than we were obvious despite our position on the ladder. I can see that and yes I'm disappointed we didn't beat Saints but the players need to take some responsibility for that IMO.

Ok I will give him a go. A chance to work through the list and see who he wants to keep for next year.

We have been very compact when we had the legs for the last couple of games. A sign of the good things to come if we get the right mix and fitness to levels that allow us to implement the gameplan for longer in games.

Times have changed since your dad would have done that to you as a kid, so drop the history.

A quiet chat behind closed doors does nothing...don't you think that's been tried and look at the result. We know it has...and where are our supporters going to demonstrate our concerns about umpiring bias and someone do something about the problem. That's the point. Get it? MM was heard br everyone including you. What will you do about it.....nothing...just ake pot shots at someone who does your dirty work for you.

What you don't get is that it is time the bullshit umpiring, the bias shit stopped. Just because you say he was sooking doesn't mean he was sooking. He in fact was drawing attention to the facts. The disparity had an effect on the sult not they players efforts. That was our game and an important game in the bag for us.

Now that MM has brought the media attention to the issue he can quietly apologise for ....bla bla bla.

Club, whilst I like it when you stick up for the club I don't find it consistent to be bagging our own. It's not consistent with what you have been on about in the past.

What is obvious from some of you is that you were and still are blinded by Rattens brilliance and anti MM. That's not being fair. The club fired Ratts not MM. The club hired MM to improve the club. I can see improvement...and I bet umpiring towards our club will improve because the spotlight is now on them...and so it should...those pricks cost us big time in the last fortnight and I want their necks TBH.

I don't think whinging about the umps in the media is good for the club in anyway. Can't see any advantage to it. There are proper ways to deal with it that are probably equally as ineffective. I hate when managers do it in the soccer and it looked equally as weak the other night IMO.

Micks just going to have to get us to be 4 goals better than our opposition each week to make sure the unlucky moments with the umps don't cost us the 4pts.

..he's already working through plenty of players and what works, the difference between our best and worst has narrowed.. ..not losing by more than 3 goals is very good.. ..our team kpi's have improved.. ..shared workload and responsibility.. ..a defined gameplan, more understanding between players as the year's progressed and everyone's learning is bedding in..

I don't give a rats arse about soccer with this issue. Nothing to do with it.

Carlton is a passion. A stand alone passion and its serious.
Look from where we are coming from in 2002 and we just let the pricks set us back again.
Not me no @#$%&! way, and if supporters are going to just accept it then you are not as passionate as most of us who are desperate to get us back to where we belong...on top.

If the umps do a sh!t job in the public arena then they deserve to cop it with both barrels (and FWIW a plastic water bottle). Can't say bad things about the umpires ...... bullsh!t (that's what they served up the other night)

You're tripping verbs

Tell me what you mean and where you are coming from.

I have heaps of hawks supporters who like to hang shit on Carlton.

Not this time...all I got from them that they got lucky with he umpiring and we still could've won it if we knew how to.

I hate the relentless whingeing as well. But if you think clubs don't get an advantage from it, then I think you're badly mistaken. It's like saying umpires aren't influenced by crowd whingeing. And yet interstate teams get an armchair ride from the umps, whenever they play at home. Umpires, like most people, are influenced by the opinions of others.

They have had us where they want us on the last 10 occasions.........we're fortunate on 2 occasions however......Fev's missed shot at goal right at the death a few years ago and the other night when they were assisted by the umps. Who knows with an even fair display by the umps we may have just got up.

Hawks would be accustomed to being throttled though.....Cats have had them the last 10 times.

Some of you people need to get a grasp of reality. Malthouse is a successful coach of years gone by and hopefully he can bring some success to Carlton but he has plenty of frailties as well.

If you're expecting something other than a footy football coach in his latter years of career you're going to be very disappointed because thats the reality.
He isnt the panacea sent to save our club. He is a small part of the puzzle.

Who cares about Milne? Carlton supporters should only be focused on Carlton.
Don't let Milne side track you. Now if Milne is related to you....that's different, but still nothing to do with Carlton.

I think you missed the gist of the post. MM was hired by the same people who hired and fired Ratts.
Most can see the upgrade.
Ratten was embarrassing just as is Sticks as President.

Actually no, I think its you who missed the gist of the post.

Its got nothing to do with Milne. I cant stand the little prick. Its about bullshitting and crystal balling to sell Malthouse to the faithful.
Dont feed me "pure honesty" and theories about standards for everyone. Mick may have plenty of admirable qualities but "pure honesty" isnt one of them.
The Milne reference was purely an example.

The OP tells us "after just 12 games he has them busting their gut week in week out, he has instilled a dedication to give maximum effort" yet a week ago 75% of the posters were saying the players are too inconsistent and we need a clean out.

So no, the post wasnt just about who hired MM and who hired Ratten. It was an exercise in telling us how good MM is and what he's supposedly achieving.
If he's so good, lets forget fabricating nonsense to sell the goods. Half the stuff in that post was pure fiction.
If most of the posters are happy to swallow it, thats fine. I'm not and as far as I know, we're all free to express our view.

If he is the saviour, I'm sure his actions will speak for him.
Hopefully he is.

BV it all depends on where you believe Carltons list and where were CURRENTLY placed compared to the rest of the comp.
What has been our preparation and how players are disciplined to compete
And leadership

Analyse where were at in those three things and go from there i reckon.
If you asked me id say we have a middle of the road list
We have not been prepared to play the game at a high standard and our discipline isnt what it should be.
Leadership stakes were very weak.!!

Id also say not much of that is MMs fault.... but its inherited.

Poor sportsmanship runs rampant in the AFL... It comes down to wheher you are willing to accept that or not.
There are just a couple of clubs that are class acts...I never heard you talk about sportsmanship under Ratts though club...

Geeez either youre biased or just older and crankier?

Micks just going to have to get us to be 4 goals better than our opposition each week to make sure the unlucky moments with the umps don't cost us the 4pts.

I don't give a rats arse about soccer with this issue. Nothing to do with it.

Carlton is a passion. A stand alone passion and its serious.
Look from where we are coming from in 2002 and we just let the pricks set us back again.
Not me no !@#$%& way, and if supporters are going to just accept it then you are not as passionate as most of us who are desperate to get us back to where we belong...on top.
If you are representative of what our club is then I don't want it. I'm Not the type you can punch in the mouth and think you'll get away with it....because 2 wrongs don't make a right
I'll give you a mountain of reasons why you won't do it again...and you won't.

Poor sportsmanship by mick though you have to admit. It comes down to whether you are wiling to accept that or not.

Poor sportsmanship runs rampant in the AFL... It comes down to wheher you are willing to accept that or not.
There are just a couple of clubs that are class acts...I never heard you talk about sportsmanship under Ratts though club...

Geeez either youre biased or just older and crankier?

I have spoken about it before in the cricket threads.

Not sure eating lollie snakes in the box is poor sportsmanship. Never really thought of Ratts as a bad sport. He never unloaded on the umps straight after a loss in the media.
Shuffling through his papers muttering on about free kick counts. It was strange behaviour from a wise old man which ever way you look at it. Far from professional.

I have been a bit cranky of late. Will try to address it as i seem to be getting a few offside.

Oh so when Ratten singled out Hampson or Curnow after games that wasnt his poor sportsmanship shining through???

Oh ok...!!!

His poor sportsmanship was even worse.. he never accepted responsibility for his failings but white-anted his players integrity in public....

Yes I wouldnt say they was poor sportsmanship but if you think it was that is fine. Id call that not accepted responsibility for his failings but white-anted his players integrity in public. I have no problem with whatever you want to call it. It means nothing to me.

Mick was being a bad sport the other night. Noone could disagree with that. It just comes down to whether you think being a bad sport was cool or not.
