you have problems Stephen will struggle to crack 50k

Tally @ 20/12 was 26,982 versus now 32,326

we were 29k + just prior to christmas

On Friday I sent my email to Clinton - it took some time to type all of the information. I listed the email in the order of what was good, what was bad, and comments/requests/areas we can improve as a club. I spoke with Clinton over the phone and sent the email to him and his 2IC Nicole. I have asked for a meeting to go through the issues and opportunities for improvement and look forward to being able to report back to you. I realise I am in a privileged position having previously been on the Board but if I can use any influence I have left, I promise I will. In a way, it is far easier to be more representative of you from outside the inner circle than within it.

I am not so sure we won't crack 50,000. Our numbers are well ahead compared to this time last year and the last two weeks has seen numbers increase by 1,000 per week. I agree we probably won't get to 50,000 if we have an ordinary start to the year but I hope our boys will continue to give their absolute best.

One thing I can share with you is that this playing group is hungry for success - for themselves. The players are cohesive and want to play for each other - that is a great start! I have no doubt that MM will get the best out of this playing group. We need luck with injuries during the year but I believe we will find out how good our list is this season.

Cheers

Stephen M

I'm not sure if anyone raised this (and yes I'm too lazy to read through 5 pages) but have the hours of operation of the membership department been raised at all? 9 - 5 Monday till Friday. I know there are plenty of other options with website and phone, but there are still plenty of people who like face to face. You might be surprised by the amount of people that would come down on a Saturday morning say 9AM - 1PM. A small thing and very easy to implement

Or for example if there just happens to be an open training session on a Saturday Morning - there should be (if there isn't already) someone manning the membership counter in the Carlton Shop ready to sign up members.

Intraclub games on Saturday instead of morning of week days. We have to take a day off work to attend. Saturdays will have more people, therefore more membership sales ?

There should be someone patrolling the stands, possibly even offering a special bonus, if they sign up before they leave the ground.

You've led them to the water, make them bloody drink!

Targeting 50,000 has a bit of 'win a final' about it to me

i'm getting tired of the constant raffle ticket phone calls.
I am yet to re-sign my membership and haven't received a single call about that, yet they want 50k members.
Get serious guys, either you want members (and long term ones at that), or you want fast $$$ via raffles.

what are the stats on 2012 members who are yet to sign up for 2013? This number would bring us very close to 50k i would think

Me too.
If you are really passing this stuff on Stephen,
Here is my reply.

As I am a long term member Greg,
letters like this are one of many reasons I join despite the admin and staff
at CFC. Not only do you not make your members feel welcome and important,
or reward them in any way..you send stupid letters like this to people who
year in, and year out support the club.
Can the membership dept. not get this sort of thing right, instead of indiscriminately
sending this stuff to members and non members?
You guys ought to reward your long term members for goodness sake!!

Grrrrrrrr.

I think you have to be blind Freddy to not see that the Club has made great progress in its engagement and communication with members and supporters. Just hoping there will be some "members only" features in our online activities. I know it is being discussed. I do however agree that it is silly to send a letter asking to sign up to people who are already members. My son received the email (he is part of the family membership) I did not. So still lots of scope for improvement. If we can move more games to the G membership will get a huge boost. While the club is making great progress on the comms front, I think the focus should be on increasing the value for money aspect of membership. As mentioned this could be online content for members only as well as exclusive access to certain activities.

I'll never knock a trier. And i reckon our footy club is having a red hot dip at getting this club back to being a big player in the game again.Anyone having a real crack has my support so good on the club for having a go.

Big picture and high end strategy (get more members, move to MCG) may be ok, but still not sure they're looking after the little things too well.

For example, do they think the $200 raffle is going gang busters and supporters or do they realise its rooted and needs to be abandoned if they can't run it better.
