What are the strengths and weaknesses of the Carlton List?
You were successful with the defensive press but later in 2011, you were being exposed with it. What are the current trends of the game and what methodology would you employ with the Carlton list?

You had one of the strongest AFL assembled lists at West Coast which is recognised by most AFL commentators. After winning a flag in 1994, it took you another 17 years to win a flag, Why?What team have you locked in to bring with you?
In the 2011 GF, all recognised AFL experts concede you erred dramatically by not moving Reid off Hawkins. Did this cost Collingwood the GF and if so, why didnt you make a move?
You preached solidarity and a team first mentality at Collingwood and you then made it all about you with interviews on the footy show and other media. Why?
You have been non commital about coaching again. How do we know you wont change your mind 10 games into the season?
You've said your wife and family dont want you to coach again. How will this impact upon your ability to do the job?

Hows that for starters?

Fair questions, particularly the first two

Unfair questions, but amusing. I can just imagine Mick glaring, standing and staring, moustache twitching, and probably taking a swing at Adrian Gleeson if he asked them. A real test of the effectiveness of Micks progress with anger management..

I'd also like to ask. "Can you win us a flag in the next three years and at the same time put the pieces in place for a run of sustained success over the next 10 years. How do you propose to do it".

Crucial that the club has an idea about what he has in mind. In great detail.

And compare this with what others might say in response to the same questions. (Not that others will get a chance to be formally interviewed)

No such thing as unfair questions in this situation. If this guy can't handle being questioned and challenged then the role has past him. Great post BV, (appreciate your contributions too Sedat - ie I tend to agree with them. )

Oh, and how about another couple of questions.

1) Do you think between the book tours and family holidays that obviously are unbreakable committments you might be able to spend a few minutes at the club?

2) Do you think all this talk about you really belongs in Paul Roos thread?

Swann told Ratten he was on a shortlist with Voss, Guy McKenna and Chris Bond. Then Voss pulled out and, despite impressive presentations from the remaining three, Ratten was always ahead of the pack because of his background. Kernahan, Adrian Gleeson and Swann made up the interviewing panel.

"Don't worry," Ratten would comment to all within earshot, "the champ's got it." In fact, around the club, Ratten unashamedly refers to Judd as "the champ".

There's your Plan A

Damn if the board wont look foolish if they dont get one of either Roos or Malthouse. I believe a change was necessary, but if they dont get one of these two, and are forced into actually going through a process, timewise we could be pushing shit up hill with the trade week etc only just over a month away! Situation is looking worse by the day IMO. :screwy:

As much as I'd like to think Roos is being courted seriously by the club I can't imagine the discussion between Rootsy and Sticks being much more than:

Sticks - "G'day Roosy, just wondering if you'd be interested in coaching the Blues mate?"

Rootsy - "Thanks for the call Sticks, but no."

Sticks - "No worries, Malthouse it is then. Let's catch up for a few beers next time you're in town."

Haha, do tell...

Yeah, nah, it's more of a case of Hartley and Rootsy referring to Buddy's cousin.

In the Sun today, it says that Sticks rang Roos who was in Melbourne. Roos said I'll get back to you. Flew home to Sydney to presumably negotiate with the Minister of Defence, then 24 hours later called Sticks back and said "The planets aren't aligned".

Sounds to me that he was keen enough but this lady had other ideas

Can we start a SAKC TAMMI thread?
She has set this club back 5 years
The fish rots from Tammi's head
Synbad & Keogh need to make her accountable

Not good enough - why can't Sticks use his famous charm to convince her?

So nothing has changed since 2010 then? Well I'll be...!

viewtopic.php?f=5&t=28034&p=1035695&hilit=Tami#p1035695

Not that it's been a wasted exercise. What Roosy now knows is his market worth. There'd be 3 Melbourne jobs that he'd seriously entertain. Carlton is one of those, Hawthorn is the other and you might be surprised who the third is. He's always thought Hawthorn is probably the better fit. I tend to agree, despite him being a mad Carlton fan as a kid. But it's nice to know that you're wanted and at the same time find out what those who want you are willing to pay you. 2014 might have been very different, but it's not 2014. The club needs a coach now, and that's what we'll get we've got.

Least he humoured Sticks for 24 hours
If you believe the HUN story, the club only bothered to pick up the phone early this week.
