Of course, nobody can answer that, for a variety of reasons.

First question, really, should be would you expect them to be worse?

If no, then why would you expect them to be better?

Then you ask, is the risk in hiring them greater or lesser than sticking with the status quo.

The saturation media coverage Ratten and Malthouse is appalling.Ratten has tried his best and in my view is not responsible for the devasting loss on the Gold Coast.

I don't consider he is courageous inovative or strong enough to be a successful coach at Carlton. However for a person who has given his all to the club to be the subject of such media speculation is not right.

I hope he has the courage to leave out othe team the players he considers passengers last week and select players who will finish the season off in the tradition of the great Carlton teams of the past

Yeah you're right.

The footy media should concentrate on...um...yeah...um...I dunno...something else...

Besides...what would you do with these arms should you get any?

I dont thing courage is his problem. For me the biggest disappointment has been how little effort the players have shown at times when we needed courage. There's people I'd see out of the club before Ratten.

The saddest part where I'm concerned isn't what Brett Ratten will do in 2013 - it's that if we lose him as coach, we lose the best kick at the club.

If he does go I'll always remember him fondly for delivering that massive finals shellacking against Essendon*.

What a great day

Should it eventuate, the saddest part of it would be losing the best kick at the club. Sad on a number of levels.

Everyone please remember whatever happens in the not too distant future, that Brett Ratten is a Carlton Champion, Best & Fairest in our last Premiership team, and a class act. Sure, things have not worked out how we all would have liked, Ratts included, but their would not be anyone on this forum who didnt want Ratts & Juddy holding up the cup this year or last. The most important thing going forward is that Brett Ratten can walk into the CFC anytime and hold his head high knowing he gave his all, which no doubt he has. Embarassment should be left to the players to deal with after the spineless & laughable display from Saturday Night. We love our champs at the Blues and Ratts, you are a champ. Go Blues.

I don't think anyone disagrees with that. Champion Carlton man. He'll be back...though maybe not for the '95 reunion, and certainly not at the same time as Kouta...but he'll be back.

Malcolm Blight was pretty ordinary in his first go as a coach (was probably pretty ordinary in his third go as a coach too) but during his second stint he managed to win two flags.

Ratts could learn from this - and come back a better coach.

He's had four stints as a VFL/AFL coach. To be fair I'd say even Blighty is trying to forget his first crack at it with North.

of course the players he considers passengers maybe the ones who he should have had more faith in and the ones he considered stars may be the ones that should be dropped. It maybe why he needs to be moved on.

The media beat up is ridiculous. Robbo and the other guy role playing Ratten press conference would have to one of stupidest things ever! :screwy:

I really don't understand the need to jump up and down to endorse Ratten and show him "respect".

He'll be remembered as a great player and a coach who didn't win a flag (like every other one bar the 44 or so who have).

How much "respect" was given to all the players he cut or wouldn't player or didn't favour?

Every one of us gets exactly the amount of respect we earn. Some will have more of it, some less. We'll get different amounts of it from different quarters.

Banging a drum trying to rustle it up is a completely pointless exercise.
