With 4 top 4 rivals playing each other this round, and the Swans away to Richmond (who are better than their record) this would be a horrible game to drop.

I really hope we bring it against the Saints.

We've been beaten at the stoppages since the Pois game... that's 3 in a row now and it needs to be addressed this week.

Hayes, Montagna and co will not be as wasteful as GWS, putting it on the chest of Roo & Kosi.

We should be fresh after only playing one quarter today
Yarran waite and Judd to come back
No fisher it looks like
Waite and our indigenous players should carve the saints up

Kills me to say it because he's one of my favourites, and it won't happen anyway but maybe Jeffy G should be dropped to the VFL for a week.

He is playing lazy football right now and taking shortcuts. Would rather kick the ball off the ground than bend over and pick it up and what has happened to the defensive pressure he was so good at putting on last year...2 tackles today. Not good enough.

His goal output shouldnt be the reason he plays or not as this is not indicative of effort and want, its the chasing, tackling, smothering that is. Can't remember a 4 quarter game he has played this year.

Has been an automatic starter for too long, needs to start earning games on merit again. Bit of a frontrunner for mine.

While I don't agree with dooky entirely I think there is some merit to it. I think Jeff has much more talent than hes getting out of himself at the moment. Not sure he needs to be dropped but could do with some inspiration maybe to spark him up a little?

I thought Jeff played a more team-oriented game yesterday than he has in the past. It's a bit hard to judge players based on yesterday though - overall the team just wasn't there to play.

Saw Jeffy sprint about 30m just to lay a bump yesterday, his form is slightly down but to call him lazy is a bit off the mark

What about his 40m sprint to lay a shepherd for Scotty in the 1st?

That was excellent.

But I can't recall a similar effort in any of the following three quarters, except perhaps in junk time.

Garlett's strength is normally his workrate without the ball. I don't think he was up to his usual standard yesterday.

RE: Jeff.

He's one of my favorites but he has been a little down lately. But i don't think it's his fault entirely. It looks as though he's bee pushed up the ground a little bit?
I say keep him up forward. That's we're he creates turnovers and scores goals.

Re:- StKilda.
I thought Hawthorn did a great job to shut down Lenny the other night. I don't care who they name Captain, Lenny is the heart of StKilda and if he's on-song, the Saints fire up. Take him out of the game and they loose their way.

Ins:
Judd, Yazz and Waite.

Outs:
Armfield, Duigan and Bootsma (loved seeing him play and i reckon he'll be a solid performer but needs to eat a lot more protein and maybe get some sun! :-) Nah, just jokes)

Noticed Ratts didn't sing the song with the players after the game.

He moved up to the Box after half time, so clearly isn't pleased with yesterday's efforts, which is good.

Having said that, the players weren't high fiving each other either after a goal. A fairly subdued game playing the new kids on the block.

Monday will be an interesting contest.

Ins will be Waite, Curnow, Yazz, Judd

Outs will be Bootsma plus I don't know about the other 3.

You'd think two of Ellard, Joseph or Russell. With Saints having 3 talls up fwd, I would not be surprised to see Bower stay in to play on Stanley. Which might mean Thornton is the unlucky one.

I dont think anyone was up to their usual standards yesterday and I hope the collective rocket up the clacker that everyone gets over the coming week will manifestly show itself next Monday Night.

Ratten obviously wasn't very happy with what we dished up yesterday but its been his plan from the start of the year to spend a bit of time on both the bench and the coaches box so we will definitely be seeing more of it this year.

Totally agree with your frustration...
Jeffy seems to have gone a little bit 'Hollywood' since his blistering start to last season, and his form has been patchy at best.
However, having someone with his speed in the side is an advantage over the slower moving Saints...

Wouldnt be dropping T-Bird either, as his 'swingman' capabilities could come in handy, especially with the Saints shakey backline (without Fisher) and tall timber forward line.

Should dominate them in the Ruck now that McEvoy is out, and hopefully give Judd, Murph and the other mids first use out of the middle.

I wanna smash these bogan supported flogs.

Good to see Dal Santo copping it from all quarters on his lack of output

We laid a sheppard yesterday and the crowd erupted with joy to this rare event  more please...

Garlett's goal output was low yesterday but his pressure off the ball was very good. Can't agree that he needs to be dropped especially the way we're entering forward 50 this year. Long bombs that need speedy crumbers at the fall of the ball.

Things I'd like to see the team do this week:

Win the clearances.
Kick more goals than behinds.
Give Judd's tagger a physical workover.
Win the tackle count.
Keep Tiprat goalless.

Oh, and win by >20 points.
