Would be surprised if Lachie Henderson played

Yep, and he's not the only one.
Certainly hope he does though.

Telling myself I don't care who wins, when that's really not quite true.

Both he and Rowe were supposed to be just missing out and playing next week, but now they've come up a few days earlier. As you know, it's not like they just walked back out on the park mid-week, but as you may not know the club is adjusting to a bunch of new equipment that's still been appearing in the last 6 months that may have helped speed up their projected recovery time.

Whatever the case, that's a finalised squad; they're on the plane unless something happens between now and Saturday afternoon.

It is absolutely absurd that this game is being played at 2.40 in Adelaide with a forecast of 37 degrees.

I know!
I cannot believe that they brought it forward from 2:35!

my impression is that they've completed a tortuous preseason in very challenging conditions - I think they'll be fine

The AFL go to all clubs involved and ask the question. They all said let's go ahead with hot weather rules rather than abandon.

So they will have two extra on the bench in both matches, have access to ice fans, ice vests, cooling trucks and whatever else they want to rustle up. On top of that, the lengths of the halves in each match can be reduced right down to 17 minutes.

Pre-season games have been played in that kind of heat before, and the players will be well advised on their hydration levels and to take the foot off the gas a little, as well as being aware of signs of dehydration (at which point it has long set in). I'm sure there'll also be plenty of IV bags on standby for emergency cases.

It's all well prepared, and given the nature of the fixture, it's not really possibly to start much later without switching from day to night balls & conditions. Then there's the whole ticketing and scheduling issue.

parko used to start the pre–season with 100 x 100 metre sprints in 37° or more.

No access to ice fans, ice vests, cooling trucks...

This is nothing..

training tomorrow won't be much chop – 38° forecast

Look at all the work in Macca's 'to do' tray!! What the hell is he doing all day. Should be on top of that stuff. We won't be a premiership contender with such inefficiency. I demand answers!!

On a slightly more serious note. If we're playing shortened halves, will the AFL scale our percentage to reflect the full 20 minute halves played by the other 15 teams?

We'll score less and have less scored against us, having a percentage system is ideal for that situation.

What scaling would you like them to do?

I'm more concerned that his out tray has even more paperwork in it.

I have a similar hairstyle to Macca and I can assure you, we love our sunblock. Getting burnt on the scalp is no fun...

Nup. Back to 37 again. :yikes:

Change in the afternoon/evening with showers and thunderstorms, so there is a chance the last game could be played in conditions 15 degrees cooler than the 1st game.

Edit: Was 30 at 7am and now nearly 11. it's only made it to 31.

Think for all the talk of ice vests and shortened quarters, we're now going to end up playing in the wet!
