We'll be underdogs for sure, and the pressure will be on them, especially given our previous game against them. But a BF poster put things into perspective:
Quote:
Last time round, we went in with:
- a debutant (O'Keefe)
- a KPD playing his first and only game in two seasons (Austin)
- a guy playing his second game in a season (Houlihan)
- a ruckman who hadn't played in 6 weeks (Warnock)
- our other ruckman playing his 3rd game in a year (Kreuzer)
- an Irishman in his fourth game of footy (Tuohy)
- our best KPP playing just the one quarter (Jamison)
- our 2nd best KPD playing his 3rd game at AFL level in 3 months, up forward (Henderson)

Plus no Laidler or Duigan. It's a far different ballgame this time around. We can win this.

Wasn't Mitch out, too?

Indeed he was.

God was on their side that day, that's for sure.

I just hope we don't make the same mistake as last time, and play an extra tall based on their match ups.

I'd prefer to have an extra runner, Tuohy or Lucas at the expense of Davies in a perfect world here. Having said that, too many question marks on Kreuzer, Hampson, Laidler and Gibbs before getting to the crux of it.

Hampson or Kreuzer for o'hAilpin possibly too I guess.

Agree 100%, with Hendo, Jamo and Laidler, we have a perfect balance for their three talls. Laidler is a gun and plays tall brilliantly.

Melksham was giving them plenty of drive until Ellard shut him down. We need people who can consistently do jobs for us and Ellard does that.
Agree with Effes, I'd favour Hampson over Carlos. Setanta had Hampsons flat hand marking technique going on the weekend and he was badly beaten in the ruck. If we play him there against Cox/NicNat, our midfield will be taken apart.

Hampson for Davies would do me.

Both Jamison and Henderson working together in the backline for (arguably) the first time together was a beautiful sight to behold.

With Laidler, Duigan, Scotland, Yarran and AJ working down back, we have a fantastic backline.

We may still be troubled somewhat by the ogres of the world (T. Cloke) but with a good defensive line, the best midfield in the competition... now we can focus on fixing up a strong marking forward position.

Do that, and premierships beckon.

Subiaco (or Patersons) is not wider than the MCG, but rather thinner and longer.

This means there'll be fewer space on the wings but a lot more room in the forward lines for the big marking forwards to work in. This is definitely in West Coast's favor.

I am much more nervous about this, but if we have an injury free list that's a bonus.

Seems like the Bye came at the perfect time for not finishing Top 4.

Maybe... just maybe it is written.

More space behind the forwards for speedy small forwards to work in also. I think this ground suits us fine.
Would be nice if we could squeeze in Hampson or Kruezer into the line up without sacrificing any run but I don’t know how they will do that.

I trust the MC to come up with a plan and pick accordingly. I am sure posters on this site will go nuts again on selection night but really they shouldn't.

What is WC form like in games after return trips from Melbourne?

This match-up takes me back to the days of these great games:
http://www.blueseum.org/tiki-index.php?page=Round+14%2C+1993
http://www.blueseum.org/tiki-index.php?page=Round+21%2C+1995

Can still hear Cometti calling the Eagles in their heyday. Hopefully we can channel the spirit of the '93 and '95 teams and pull off an upset.

If someone can replicate the Duke's shirtfront, this time on Glass maybe, that would probably be just as useful as it was that day!

Have a few of the queues open Grro, one in each browser. It isn't a true queue, it's random.

Sitting 320, got 4 tickets. Can't wait!

Not the most convincing I've ever heard, I reckon still could go either way

If that's the case then Hampson must come in for Setanta IMO.
The other change I'd make is Russell for Davies as he would be a better matchup for LeCras.

Will go to a pub or something to watch the match...return flights are much too dear. Ideally the club should play host to the Victorian based supporters who can't make it over to WA, it would generate money for the club, but for one reason or another (it has been brought up in other threads) it's a no-go which is a shame.

As far as the ins and outs go, we're a much better side on paper this time around playing the Eagles. They are beatable, that's for sure, and we've since tweaked our structure by sending Henderson into the backline and I'm confident he can do a number on Kennedy.

Kreuzer should be right to go, in hindsight it was a good move to rest him, so depending on how he fares during the week, bringing him in is a no-brainer.

As bizarre as it sounds, I reckon we're better off taking them on at Subiaco than at Etihad. The wide spaces work in our favour, we can carve them up for speed with Yarran and Garlett, and our forward line has plenty of room to function. On Etihad we tend to get suffocated up forward.

Very confident about this match, win it and we play Geelong at the MCG in a prelim I assume?

Glad to know I'm not the only one.

Says on the site to allow up to an hour for the tickets.

We are in the state of Wait Awhile, I guess.

My browser expired twice at the last gasp but finally got them.

Can't wait.

Judd to kick a snap with 20 secs to go so we win by a point.

Sometimes it has taken up to 24 hours in the past for the actual tickets to be sent through to me with Ticketmaster. They do always come though

The last time we played West Coast we were up against the following:

- Laidler, Robbo and Duigan missing.
- O'Keefe, Austin and Houlihan were playing and all struggled.
- Jamison getting injured early in the match left us badly exposed.
- Judd had been battling the flu all week whilst Cox and Kerr were at the top of their game. This time around it sounds like Cox and Kerr will be the ones struggling to be fit.
- Warnock wasn't as well prepared for Cox/NicNat after coming back from a long spell in the Bullants (and neither was Kreuzer coming back from a knee reco).
- Henderson played the first half up forward where he barely touched the footy (he was moved back in the 2nd half and played much better).

Providing Gibbs is fit and Laidler isn't suspended I'm feeling confident against this mob on the long Subiaco oval.
