Sciatic nerve may be irritated either in the back or butt. The nerve is as thick as your thumb and goes down to your toe. That's often the problem and the first place i'd look. Possible too there might be bleeding in the lower shin but have to see if there was swelling there.

Not necessarily any. Might be just some butt inflammation irritating the nerve or a kick in the wrong spot causing some bleeding. Anything else would cause pain, not numbness. No guarantees though as I'm not there to see what happened.
