Ratt's at the Bullants game over the weekend stating to the guys in front of us that he'd "come down to have a look at Robbie".

Why do i get a sick feeling Warnock will be selected ahead of Hampson???!!

It's funny how a web site like this can influence you.

I haven't been to a Bullants game all year; I have no first hand knowledge of Hampson's
form at all; and yet ... I reckon I'm as keen as anyone to have him in the 22.

Moral of the story : Have faith in the MC. If he's ready, they'll play him.

Well, as Wallsy said on Monday night. Warnock had been chased to come to the club, we gave up about three picks for him (one of which was used to get Nick Suban), the club put him in cotton wool last year to make sure he got his body right, and now it's time for him to earn his money!

..and i agree.. ..however, i reckon the fact we got Hammer with our PP in the Gibblet draft means we 'paid' more for the Hammer.. ..he's got more potential, and offers much more to the team now and i daresay down the track.. ..if we're gonna factor in what picks we used for Knockers, i reckon the same should then apply to the Hammer.. ..and i reckon 17 in a bloody good draft trumps robbie's few..

Alternatively, he could have been well convinced of Hampson's form, and went along to evaluate Warnock's to see if he was up to standard.

The coverage would be fairly limited at these games, so its a chance for a coach to sit down and see if Warnock's form is influencing Hampson's and vice versa.

Just putting it out there, but maybe just maybe he was checking all Carlton listed players. Just a thought. He hardly would tell the crowd who he is picking. What's wrong with warnock anyway. He tackles and gets down and gets the ball, once he gets some confidence the marks will come.

In my opinion we should go with warnock and hampson. Not impressed with Jacobs, he lumbers around the ground like a log, cannot keep up with athletic ruck men and the other two have all the attributes if only they can click.

My suggestion is similar to ABNS but with a couple of changes.

Armfield Jamo Lucas
JR Bower Simmo
Gibbs Robbo Tex
Yarran Hendo Hoops
Betts Hammer Carlos

Jacobs Judd Murphy

Garlett, Carrots, Scotland, Grigg

In: Carlos, Robinson, Grigg, Hammer, Murphy
Out: Kruezer (inj), Waite (susp), AJ, Hadley, T-Bird

Back 6

Time for T-bird to make way I think.
And simmo could be an answer for us off half back as he is great above his head and off the ground, gutsy as they come, and his run and carry from there will worry more than a few teams.

All in all the line of Army,Jamo and Lucas seems solid and the line of JR, Bower and Simmo will provide plenty of run and carry as well as matching up well against most HF lines.

Middle

Murph and Gibbs are both outside players and thats were we want them to be, and Juddy needs some hard men around him. So while I don't think we can play mclean and Hads in the same side, I think that we can play both Robbo and Grigg, these guys are hard at it, more than prepared to throw a block for a team mate and if not manned up can hurt the opposition going forward.

They may not be the complete answer yet, but the more games we get into them, the sooner they will be. So these guys to throw their bodies around and carrots and scotto for impact off the bench.

Forwards.

Hendo is a lead up CHF at this stage of his career and I think soon to be a damn good one. So we need to leave him there and let him develop rather than keep trying him at FF.

The 3 amigos worked well at the beginning of the season, but teams are now countering that tactic by playing 2 out against Carlos to stop him bring the ball to ground so easily and flooding back to block the amigo's space.

So I think play both Hammer and Carlos with one of them leading into that Gap 40m out behind Hendo, that should provide the ball carrier more options and I think open things up for the small guys. Later in the game when the opposition tire and the game opens up, we can always bring one of the big guys off and let the three small guys tear em a new one.

Anyway just my thoughts.

I'm going to this game and taking the wife for her first match ever ('cept for the 2003 Night Final). We'd better win or else I may be looking at the divorce courts.

I don't think that I would select Robbo for this game. I thought he struggled to run out the last game and either was carrying an injury or needs another pre-season to show his wares. So against the Lions I think I would bring in Ellard who is another tough nut has continued good form in the Bullants and would provide a hard in and under to complement Hadley and take some pressure off Judd. Certainly he could run out the game and has shown he can kick goals which we need to get from our mdifielders. Also I think we need to assess his progress or improvement before the end of the season and with Murphy under a cloud we may need him. Even if Murphy is declared fit enough to play I would selct Ellard as insurance. For murphy to play IMO it will be either Armfield or Yarran who make way. Joseph remains in the side as I believe he wins more contested possessions than Armfield and uses the ball slightly better. I am not sure if Carlos will come up so I think it's a choice between Fisher or Hampson to play full forward. Warnock to be included for Kreuzer and Hampson for Waite. The MC seems to prefer 2 tall targets up forward so Hampson for the full forward spot.

We need to replace Waite with another tall forward. Thornton, Satanta or Hampson? If hampson isnt picked as the second tall i would pick him as a ruck anyway.

walker Jamo Armfield
Russ Bower Gibbs
Simpson Judd Lucas
Houla Henda Yaz
Garlett Hampson/Carlos/Thornton Betts

Jacobs Grigg Murphy

INT:- Warnoch/Hampson Carazzo AJ Scotland (maybe Robo for one of AJ, Carazzo, Scotland depending on who trains best.)

OUT:- Waite, K, Hads and THornton(maybe) IN:- Grigg Hampson Warnoch

Keep a mobile defense as our best footy as a team is played with our backline running and creating. Let Voss spend his time trying to take Gibbs out of play while Walker, Russ and Armfield run amok.

Judd may not come up either.

Just a hunch.... I am thinking if its been a week and the club have just complained to the AFL about the surface perhaps his ankle is hurt worse than they thought.

I reckon he will play but have a feeling it could be touch and go.
