Yeah, he was already in the air, going for the mark, when Bate came back with the flight.

Unless people have discovered how to come to a stop in the air, there was absolutely nothing Waite could do to stop the contact.

That's how I saw it (over and over again).
In fact, once in the air, there's evidence that he was pulling out with nowhere to go.

There may have been an inkling to bump his face given his hips swayed a bit, but what Lurker is quoted above happened before any hip swerving mid air.

No case to answer.
No damage done.

If anything, Bate's headed Waite's arse.

I missed what happened, so only know what is being said on here, was Eddie actually showing support for Davey or was he in fact giving him a bit of hurry curry??
What frustration did Robbo show?... I need to see it.

Here is what I saw from the stands; from what I could tell the player set ups were very different in the 2nd and 3rd quarters when the Dees came back at us and we looked flat. We went back to Judd in the middle, Thornton at HF and Waite at FF in the last which from what I could tell, was why we managed to skip away in the last. For the middle 2 quarters Judd was resting in the forward line with Waite and T Bird playing back. Maybe Ratts was trying different things, but it almost backfired on him.

Walker was awesome in the 1st and last quarters, Garlett, even though he really didn't bother the stats much, ran his heart out. I was also impressed by Hadley who was directing the mid field when Judd was on the bench, so it's nice to see he has the respect of his team mates.

Looks like Rivers gives Waitey a nudge in Bate's direction while he's in mid-air too. No way he can go for that.

yeh i dont understand how the commentator thinks the 50 is justified

it was incidental contact in a marking contest and waite was shoved in the back and bate was courageous

the game has lost the plot

free kick to bate - ........ yeah ok

nothing more

barely clumsy

Nah come on gro - I'm one of Waites biggest fans it was late and a bit crude

Sure he was in the air but he made no attempt to spoil or mark - he saw he wasn't going to make the contest tried to pull out and made it look worse - if he had punched the ball or attempted to mark it he would have been penalise for Chopping at worse

Late? :? He had jumped in the air before the ginger nut was even there.

Maybe he should watch where he is going... hahaha.

Easy to critique after u see the slow-mo replay 6 times.

Umps have no such luxury, and may have not have had a great viewing angle of the incident.

If that 50 is the biggest umpiring issue we have to deal with for the year they are doing a good job.

Waite was leading, the ball was directed at him. He jumped. A collision occured because Bate tried to interrupt Waite's flight at the ball.

Bate should be cited for attempted tunnelling.
