The only thing that keeps this thread semi-relevant IMO is the fact that when we come up against the genuine contenders, we bring our A-game, which naturally would occur in a GF if we got that far. In a GF we wouldn't come up against a team were expected to beat, and thus aren't properly prepared. If through some freak of nature we played the 7-8th placed team in a GF, I'd be extremely worried.

Another thing about the season in which we do win a flag is that it is one that is very close.

Percentage plays an extremely important part.

While it is true that only a couple of wins separates most of the ladder in 2010 at this stage - I suspect that the seasons to come might be even closer.

The 17th flag year is also one during which Carlton doesnt really look like a team that could possibly challenge for the flag until late in the season.

We make the finals - But for most of that year our form looks decidely mediocre.

No.

I just hope we make the finals. Any team from 5th to about 14th has a chance of making those last 4 spots.

We can, or maybe not.

It's possible, but then again it's not.
