..why though..?.. ..do you quit a job before looking for jobs, setting up interviews..?.. ..it's the way the AFL has it set-up.. .... ..not exactly a lot of time between when a player's contract runs out, and trade period..

Geez if all we lose is Grigg then it will be a bullet dodged I reckon!! Maybe we can use whatever pick we get as compensation to pick a kid that can kick with both feet!

GC need to sign a flagship player like Gary Ablett to get other decent players to follow otherwise it will be a Brisbane Bears lineup.
Grigg is a ok player who has promise but not vital to our future and I would rather lose him than see someone like Hampson go home and we get some 3rd rate pick for him after doing the monkey work in developing him.

For the last time, Hampson signed an extended contract that doesn't run out until the end of 2011. He won't be going anywhere near the Gold Coast unless the club, Hampson and GC17 agree to a deal.

That isn't the point.

You need to think of the players we've kept and could have lost.

It doesn't matter if you like the player and he gives you depth.

If our depth happens to keep a Grigg out of the side, then we will receive a late second or early third round pick based on the B & F. You have to learn to accept getting bent over in a trade and accept a bit of collateral damage to build up a new franchise in the AFL's utopia.

We will only crack it if the player is a wanker like Fevola, but an out and out star. :garthp:

The bigger issue here for the AFL and clubs is that if players have signed for GC, they have all the gameplans of the player they are recruiting from their respective club.

If players can sign and play the season at a club they won't be at next year, then its a bit wrong.

If coaches quit and sign with other teams, they pack their bags the next day. Due to not picking up new gameplans etc.

Bit like having spies in your team for 12mths, not putting in 100%

That would be impossible. Not even our players know the stuctures.
