Dont forget there are 4 practice games so I am sure some of these guys who are not playing will get a go at some stage.

Put it this way: take out Fisher and put in White, and I will be satisfied with the squad.

No one has ever questioned Fisher's work when we have possession; he runs all day and presents and presents and presents. His problem is everything else. Can't kick further than 35 m without getting underneath it and can't chase down 80% of the opposition players in the league.

He's a key forward in a HFF's body. Playing him when we need to develop a forward structure is a waste of time.

I would have liked to have seen Casboult play in this match.

Oh well, maybe he will be needed later on.

Didn't you read about his lack of fitness? He'll get his chance - you can't throw them in if they can't yet play a full game. Don't forget how late these boys started their preseason.

Im happy Fisher is playing. He had a horrible year last year but he deserves another crack to prove himself. We all have very short memories.

Fish is a C grader with not a lot more upside.

We need to find more potential B and A graders who have lots of upside and develop them at senior level, not waste time with C graders.

The argument around here over the years that players develop in the seniors and not the reserves has always upset me - it is just plain wrong. Some players receive significant benefit from being played for an extensive period of time in the reserves to help them learn different roles and skills. Tiller is a potential B or A grader (we hope), but perhaps he needs that extra period of confidence that the Bullants may yet give him. The same goes for any one of a number of other young players on our list. Just because they are in the Bullants doesn't mean their development is in any way being neglected. I would argue that Hammer was a significantly better player in 2009 because of the time he spent in the Bullants in 2008. Granted it is horses for courses (some guys like Kreuzer, Murphy and Gibbs don't need Bullants), but overall there is no reason ROK and Tiller are not developing if they play Bullants footy for the moment.

Of course not EVERYONE is suited to being thrown in the deep end, but their are some with obvious potential in a certain role who need to experience the tempo at AFL level to progress in their development. Browne and Anderson are 2 examples that need only to adapt to the faster tempo, IMO. The NAB Cup is about development, and the likes of Tiller should be given a taste ahead of Fish.

Looking at squad, we are only, say, 5-6 players off our best 22?

We hammered this mob by 10 at Dome last year, no White and O'Keefe, both have caused us probs in the past.

Disappointed if we don't win by 5 plus goals.

Fair enough Budzy,

sorry... I thought you were sounding like one of the 'they only develop in the seniors crowd'.

Fully agree re Browne and Anderson by the way. With Tiller, I have grave doubts that he's ready, so I'd play Fisher before him. Maybe if Kerr was fit then I'd put him in ahead of Fish.

From what i have seen at training and Intra club Fish has been working as hard as he possibly can on improving his bad points. The club probably see this Nab cup as one last chance to have a crack. He deserves it.
I sadly think he is finished though.

Good to find a man who can still use his hands Tommi.

Just got back from training.

Hard to tell whose playing and whose not.

Can't remember seeing Simmo, Gibbs, Setanta, Ellard or Jacobs from the squad.

Maybe there's something in that, or maybe I just missed them.

Very light session.

Truly wasn't worth the effort to see them train. The Carlton players were not there for any meet and greet with the fans. There were hardly any fans there. Have to say, it was all a bit embarrassing. The invitation to the open session, the effort from the club and players towards the fans.... Hopeless effort by the Blues regarding the promotion of their brand. Really pathetic. I don't care if they ever play in Sydney again to be honest, it was such a let down.

Am having 2nd thoughts about the effort I give the club, both financially and with my time. I think the fans in Sydney are held in contempt (and it may be a reflection on how the club treats and perceives the rest of its followers/ fan base). I feel like a right royal suck going out there today and supporting a bunch of bogans who get paid a fair amount of money.

Sure I cracked a few jokes, and the Carltonians around me would have thought I was really enjoying the situation. Some of the players even gigled. I was trying to make light of the situation, and add a bit of humour, and entertainment in a dull situation, because dead set it was like being at a mogue out there. There was something not right with the connection between team and supporters.

The players and the officials had no intention to mix it up with the fans, let alone to attract them to the venue. Great to see Kapt Kouta and Mark No3 having a few baby photos with Juddy and Ratts. That was the highlight.

Now those who know me, know I am no snob, nor boring in social environments, but I was questioning why the @#$%&! I'd want to be seen hanging around those snobs of players and officialdom from Carlton. Never felt like this in my last 40 years as a Carlton supporter. Is this what they mean by generation Y? @#$%&! me dead.

I have a lot to think about, but atm I have a feeling I will not be buying 50 memberships next year, nor will I buy $2000 worth of merchandise, nor do feel compelled to be a member, nor will I sponsor a player if that's what they're like these days...I'll just rock along and watch the game like any other footy watcher to be honest, and let them live and die by their sword.

Looking forward to going out there and watching them tomorrow night as usual, but I aint going over the top for that lot in a hurry again.

Blues to win by a lot. Go Blues.

Sorry to hear that Bondi - you and all Carlton supporters around the country deserve much better. You've established enough cred for me to take your words at face value. Looks like CFC don't get it. We should have the resources to look after our stakeholders, but more than resources, it's about the intent and outlook. CFC aren't a customer focussed organisation. Lame.

I'm seeing a lot of membership billboards around Melbourne, but if we want to grow, the club need to get their attitude right across the country.

Bondi, I understand what you mean.
I used to expect the same too and I dont contibute financially like you do. Just a rank and file member.
But these guys dont give you anything. They'd rather be elsehwhere when it comes to the fans.
I've lowered my expectations now and rarely get disappointed!
