..Knockers won't be ready for finals type footy, nurse him thru the ressies these last two weeks [unless Hammer isn't fit, cloke just not a ruck].. ..the ruck combo of Hammer/Krooz has been working a treat, i'd go with their endurance and speed and agility in the finals.. ..both have good work ethic and repeat efforts..

Hi All,

First time poster, long time reader.
Hammer's injury may be worse than everyone's making out. Have it on good authority that he flew over on Friday night but experienced back pain Saturday morning and was admitted to hospital on Saturday afternoon. A fair amount of fluid was found in his back and needed to be drained and he stayed in hospital overnight. Not sure if draining the fluid will fix the problem but he was seeing a specialist yesterday afternoon.

Not sure what the extent of the injury is, but I'd hedge my betts that it's a result of that kamikazi style marking attempt from a couple of weeks ago.....

I was told at the game yesterday that he has a spine problem (bulged disk it was said) and he is out for the year and it is career threatening. Not sure how good the info is but it's from someone with contacts at the Club.

Yes, but don't take it as gospel yet. Only one source - so not sure how accurate. Anybody else heard anything?

read that he was at the Ants game today and no mention of particular discomfort or obvious signs of injury

Mikkey I was told something similar at the ground Saturday - except it wasn't Shaun Hampson they were referring to, it was young Luke Stanton whom the medicos are quite concerned about. I didn't hear much about Hammer other than if he's not back next week he'll be right to go for finals the week after.

I'll take your word for it. You are a doctor.

That's terrible news for Luke though if true.

I would not panic yet - there are always stories around and certain info can be misunderstood by people and relayed wrongly. So lets sit tight and wait for better sources / information.

If that's your angle, why did you start the whole thing?

Any update?

We need a stronger ruck combo. for the next few weeks and Kreuz can't be expected to do it all.

I heard that he was close to playing against Melbourne but he pulled up a bit sore after the last training session. They played it safe and gave him 1 more week. He will train this week and if he gets through with no discomfort, he will play. Although the injury was a concern, its not season ending or career threatening.

I think it was Stampson. Or was it Hampton?
