Yeah I do too.

He's not perfect but I think we look better for having him.....I felt comfortable having him back and was satisfied with his performance....then I come in here and the majority of remarks are negetive...i didn't see it that way today.

I like him out of defence, he became a threat on the wing. In defence he still makes mistakes which directly cost us goals.

Play him up the ground ala Houla (although maybe not that far) and I have no issues. Get Hadley into some decent form and ensure Russell trends upwards a bit more and we can buy ourselves a little depth.

Even if that proves temporary, buys us a year or so of development in the blokes we just drafted.

Why do we seem to play our best football when we're 5 goals down?

Is it a mental thing...do the players need a backs to the wall position to lift?
Or is it because the coach rejigs our appraoch when the situation gets desperate?

Off the top of my head, the Port comeback last year, the final qtr of the second Ess game last year, the Hawks game this year, Q2 of the saints game this year, & now today.

When we can play good 1st qtrs & dictate the terms early the side will have taken a big step forward.

I'm with you. I thought he was fantastic in the first few weeks that he did play. He's a good team player.

Played well.

What you're suggesting is fair enough for the down the line "Russell is shit" crew. But the "Drop Russell" crowd have, I reckon been vindicated.

Reckon it reinforces the opinion that he should have been dropped weeks ago, rather than quash it. Played with greater hunger and confidence than he has before.

Now can string a few together hopefully.

Yes, well said. However, there is a very fine line between both.

Still, many just can't get the words out can they. Poor form from them

I believe some of us have.
We didn't question his passion i believe.today,he stepped up.Well done.
(no need to aggravate. )
Setant and Gibbs....wow..shining stars.

Many did - including some pathetic comments.
Too bad about the aggravation. Supporters on this site have fed on Russell and others far too much in the past 2 months.

Its great to see them squirm for a change. This wasn't a Talking Carlton site like it used to be. It was being harpooned by "experts" that were turning it into a Hang Shite on Carlton Players Site.

Now it's a Hang Shite on Supporters Who Bagged Your Favourite Player Site.

Progress

Cause we are let of the leash and allowed to play attacking footy where as Ratten sets us up with a negative mindset at the start

One thing I noticed is when the players are'nt so Fevola conscience we actually play some decent footy.
It just seemed they backed themselves to have long range shots at goal instead of looking for Fev, and we ended up kicking 7 goals in that last quarter.

I hope they continue to play like the last quarter more often and if Fev kicks a bag, good on him, if he doesnt and
we still win games,,,,,,, so be it,,,,,,, BUT if he starts
gettin the shits cause players dont give him the ball.................................................................... :thanks:

Yeah noticed that too ... If the players can just look before they give it to FEV .. if he is being triple teamed then geez its not hard to see a better option. Thought Fev's game was great today ... but more importantly people .. carrots, Grigg, Murphey, Setanta etc went for it rather than trying to pass to FEV ... even Garlett in the last ... OK he missed but I am truly of the belief the boys have to start backing themselves when in a scoring position rather than looking for FEV. If Fev is in a good position no problem pass it to him he is the FF but and today was an exception ...too many times this year I have seen players in a position to back themselves and go for goal try to dish it to FEV who has three players harassing him.

Hope this is a turning point in regards to that.

Have to say this game gave me every emotion ... a win is a win so am wrapt ... but that first quarter, our kicking for goal and Ratt's ability to fire up the boys when it counts needs to be addressed.

Saying that if the boys can learn from this game, realise that when they back themselves and play like they did in the last then at the moment they could give anyone a run in the competition. Maybe in the end what we have been saying is true .. we are a young inexperienced team and wil make these mistakes. If that is true then this game was a real bonus. It would have taught the team a shedload.

I really hope that is the case.

GO BLUES

If Fremantle dont start favourites for this game something is wrong, we are soooo over rated its not funny. We have done nothing all season. Hence why i always put money on the teams we play against and collect. Examples

Vs Essendon* twice.... Essendon* to win both times odds were over $2.00... jumped on twice and twice collect
Vs Hawthorn we were slight favourites - got on the Hawks... collected
Vs Freo got great odds... $3.00... got on... collect

Ill continue to bet against the heartless Blues

I hope you put your house on the Dockers, champ.

Judd, along with Murphy and Gibbs, saved us from one of the most emabarrassing losses in recent years. The Dockers are shockers and we were lucky.

Still have 6 players not up to AFL standard.

Mmm...Many players have come back and played brilliantly the 1st week.Case in point would be Fisher..let's wait and see.
Where there is smoke there is generally fire, and you can't on the back of one really good game expect people to bow at your feet and eat humble pie. It's not about who is right or wrong anyway is it?
It's about our collective love for the blues.
People usually make judgements over a length of time.
I'm happy to stop worrying when JR has the ball, and hope he continues to grow.it would be great for us.
Life is all about change and growth..there is no point wasting energy saying a player has always been good because you believe it to be so.
kindest regards,
Bluegirl.

I'll take an ''Ugly"" win over an '' honourable loss'' any day.

BUT we have to put an end to this reliance on Judd to dig us out of a hole.

I's time for others to step up and share the work load.

Interesting that for all the talk about Fremantle fielding a very 'young and inexperienced' team...Carlton were even younger and less experienced! Over half of the match day 22, 12 players had played less than 50 games and only four had player over 100 games.

When you consider the above, this was quite a good win.

Glass Half Empty: Judd pulled us out of this one.

Glass Half Full: 1 goal 9 behinds victory ie 10 more scoring shots...a bit more poise and we'd have a greater margin

I think that's 2 half empty glasses Rod. Never mind, tip 'em in together and we've got a full one  .
