..the Gibblet had a great game, as did j.selwood.. ..and the cats should seriously consider naming him capitano next year, i know he's young but he seems to be the one that cares the most [or did vs us]..

Gibbs set the game up for us with his brilliant first quarter. He led the way, the others followed. A true leader's game in every sense of the word and what makes it so special is that he put some pressure on himself and the team with his comments earlier in the week. He talked the talk, then he went out and walked the walk. Not many players would have the guts to put themselves in that position and then the ability to actually deliver.

Have I mentioned how much I love Bryce......

Agree. Bryce showed something I haven't seen all that much of previously: desperation and leadership by example. Awesome.

Selwood is very good, but I've always said I wouldnt swap Gibbs for him.

I'd like both. If we had one or the other, we'd be screaming for the other. GIBBS isn't an in-and-under type but rather a classy finisher, and guess what we're screaming for in the middle? An in-and-under type to feed the ball out.

However had we taken Selwood, we'd love his grunt but would lament the lack of classy finishing and poise that GIBBS would offer.

If he wasn't last week, he is now.

Gibbs is the Master of the sense of proximity.

Scary to think he's only 20..

I really don't see how you could rather Selwood in the team.
As much as I respect Selwood and think he's a great player, Gibbs' talent is extremely rare.

Selwood runs headlong into tackles, Gibbs bends space and time to evade them.

Both are great players, and will serve their respective team well.

Key difference I see, is that Gibbs is far more versatile. Has the height and ability to play both ends of the ground, as well as the middle. Selwood, at this stage, although very good in the middle, doesn't show the skills to be as effective as either a half forward or half back flanker. It may come in time, but for mind the versatility shown by Gibbs is a very good asset.

Go Blues!!

Look we have picked up 3 gems in Murph Krueze and Gibbs...end of story!

..3 years of good footy?, or 3 'elites'....??..

..personally i just think too many ppl are too quick/eager to label a player 'elite'.. ..when really such a lofty title should be earned over a few years of top shelf footy, and be claimed by no more than say ten or so.. ..and if there's more than ten, then the standard is raised to push a few out..heh.. ..he's definately on the right path though and barring injuries should break into that bracket..

agreed, gibbs is one of the better players in the comp and at this rate will be elite in 2-3 years time but i don't believe he's jus there yet. i think the word elite should be reserved only for thsoe who over the course of at least a few seasons have proven they are among the top handful of afl footballers. at present, the only players i'd have in there are judd, ablett, riewoldt, cox, scarlett, swan and brown. selwood, hayes and pavlich are right on the brink.

That goal in 2nd quarter from outside 50, minutes after Fev didn't make the distance from almost the exact same spot....... drool! Selwood can't do that!

So glad we won the Gibbs Cup!

Gibbs is both in and under and outside, a superb mix of both. Selwood would struggle to have the same impact in our side IMO. Gibbs by a country mile IMO.
