No one is finished for the year after only 9 rounds. There's another 13 games (14 weeks) for players to improve.
Anyone who plays the in and under role will spend half their time fighting for the ball contesting an the floor. That's partly why Hadley and Bentick are not seen as being too flashy. It's a tough gig and someone has to do it. AJ tags, and doesn't get heaps of possessions but he plays a role. So do the in and under players.
I'm not advocating Hadley return this week...I'll leave that to the MC, but I am saying he's not finished and just has to pick up his form a bit. In the last game Hadley played against Freo, he got loose so many times and the passes to him were appalling. You can't blame him for not presenting or finding space to expose his opponent for that.
Teague mentioned that with Scotland's injury against Collingwood was a neck injury, but that it may also have been a hamstring. I hope he's ready to come into the fold.
I would like to see both Carrots and Scotto back if they are fit.
Garlett replaced Yarran because of Yarrans commitment to attend a funeral interstate. Given the game Garlett played I can't see him being replaced. Ratts said last night (OTC) that they have found out that Garlett can play at this level; that's what you find when you challenge the kids.
Our strength this weekend will be our height advantage and there's will be thr run they generate from the backline and link through the middle. We must shut down one of their backmen and have Fev, Santy and Kreuzer/ Hammer expose them in the forwardline. In fact with Jamo, Bower, Thronton and Austin in in the backline, I would say that we are a bit too top heavy and need 3 runners in our backline. Stop Hooper and Sherman in the forwardline (Armfield, Joseph or Browne). Naturally we will be hard tagging Brown and Bradshaw.
If Bradshaw plays back then Brennan will play forward. Then who is going to ruck for them other than the very athletic Kennedy?
Black is the dangerman. I think OJ can tag him, but because of Blacks size advantage, I can't see OJ being as effective on Black as he was with Kerr. My gut feeling is to tag Black with Carrots.
I really think we're going to win this one. I'm sure Ratts has learned alot about his troops in the first 9 rounds and is conscious of getting the balance (experience and kids) right and minimising the risks at the time of selection.
I'd have Gibbs running with Black...who's OJ?
