Pros - when we apply defensive pressure in the forward line and midfield, teams fall apart.

Cons - when we fail to apply defensive pressure in the forward line and midfield, we fall apart.

Lucky at this point the pros outweigh the cons!

Other pros include Murphy finally drilling those shots on goal he creates.

Simmo's alley-oop pass for Gibbs' goal in the third.

Hadley's moment; punching through a cracker of a goal & running back to the centre to have Luke Power tagging him - 18 months after leaving after struggling to get a gig in their midfield.

Eddie's set shot from the boundary.

Mitch Robinson having the confidence to weave through traffic & carry the ball.

Houlahan with a couple of real courageous displays in the first half.

Wiggo looks naked without a bandage around his head!

Pros.

Gibbs, sensational.
Murphy kicking goals at will.
Juddy being Juddy.
Fev. What a great chase down for his 1st goal and stood up in the last quarter when we needed someone.
Robo's last quarter.
Houlihan. Great to see him fit and firing.
Betts.
4 players in the team with 1 game's experience and 7 having played under 25 games.
We're on top of the ladder.

Cons.

Comments that Garlett is not AFL ready….. I'm pretty sure I was at an AFL game tonight.
Reference's to Yarran and Rich. Give the kid a break, he hasn’t even played a game yet.
The bagging of Bower. Those who think he is going backwards aren't seeing the big picture. He's not the first and certainly wont be the last to get physically monstored by Bradshaw.

I recon Bradshaw is up there as one of the most underrated players in the game...great mark and great kick for goal...although im not too sure about his defensive abilities.

dannyboy:

you know you're a real Carlton supporter when you're so pissed you can't spell 'the' or 'club', but you have no problem whatsoever with Garlett.

Pro's:
Quick ball movement... quick minds, quick hands.

Playing as a team... confidence in each other.

Great spirit.

Selflessness

Con's:
Injuries, but that's football, and that's why you build depth.

Chamberlain. 16 free kicks from the 3 umpires, but only one of them came from him. He's a filthy cheat and the club should make a formal request that he refrains from umpiring any of our games.

I think the Lions are filthy on Murphy.

They wined & dined him & he gave them the khyber.

I remember Copeland fixed him up in his first year & now Brown has a crack

They need to grow some balls and get over it. No one wants to move to that crap hole that is Brisbane and hang out with wankers of the calibre of the Coach and Captain.

Pro's

All the boys, we were challenged big time and a few times, usually a team will challenge and then fall away but to Brisbane's credit they cept coming and we withstood it, great signs.

Like a few others, I must have been at a different game because I thought Jeffrey G was definately at AFL standard last night. Has a very good vertical leap and took a few good marks linking the play and created havoc in their backline.

I am a JR fan and although he had a few turnovers, I thought did a great job of Travis J.

Lastly, the crowd, boy of the 42,500, I would say 38,000 were Carlton supporters and the place was rocking and also very quiet when the Lions were challenging. Good to see so many flags around the crowd. (you should have seen the line for the collection of hats, scarfs and flags for the kids, it was loooooooong).

Cons

Some supporters at the ground that bag their own.

Ray, what an absolute piece of $#!t

Jamo's injury, we really missed him in that third. Also Walks injury, get well soon AW.

I have lost my voice (not sure if it was from cheering or giving Ray a serve)

OT - I know - but Brisbane (city) = Good. Brisbane (Team) = Annoying pack of wankers... Please - let's not get confused!
But I do agree that they have to get over the Murphy choice - face it Browny, he's just not that into you!

Quite agree with House DUC. It would be pretty easy for everyone to get on here and throw rubbish at where everyone else lives - but there is no call for it on this forum. Its unnecessary, and I hope you were referring to the team and not the city. Enough said.

Pros: the big one for me was Jacobs and Kreuzer. I want to hear what Bondi thinks, but to me these guys were a key to the victory
Russell. Johnstone was a match winner last week - this week he was shut down. JR was instrumental to the win, and the calls for him to be dropped are tiring and demonstrate a lack of understanding of modern game structures.
Aaron Joseph. The game is up for grabs in the third quarter, and where is their dangerman Hooper? Sitting on the bench after Joseph has well and truly pantsed him.

Good one DUC... Melbourne is a bit of all right too. I'll be there in May to watch the game v Collingowood, and to see JR dominate!

Another pro from last night: Fev played a great team game again. The tackling and harrassing was wonderful again.

Pro's

Our conversion. Some of our shots from out wide were exceptional.

Murphy. Wins the hard ball and is using it better. It's good to see him run at the goals instead of kicking around his body.

Gibbs. Classy and committed his body when it was his turn.

Kruezer. 2nd and third efforts are exceptional.

Robbo. Found it a bit tougher this week but continued to work hard. His flying tackle in the 2nd? quarter was superb and resulted in a goal to Eddie. Plus his ability to win a clearance in the last quarter was telling.

Hadley and Judd. Excellent on ball leaders for our youngsters.

Cons.
Jamo. He's one of our most important players and his loss will be crucial.

The MC for leaving Bower on Bradshaw. Bower is a talented up and comer who was hung out to dry. Bradshaw is one of the strongest players in the league and Bower wasn't the right match up.
Dont lose faith in him. The boy can play.

God there are some shmucks on here. The Match Committee are giving JR a job to do and he does it but people think he needs to get dropped. I am pretty sure the match committee know a hell of a lot more than some of you.

Can anyone tell me what happened to Jamo, i had to go out so missed the game and people are talking about his injury.

Also does anyone know where on the net i can watch a replay of the game?

Have not seen the game yet, but as a general comment, I'm impressed that we seem to be taking control of matches in the 1st half now. As inspiring as it was to come from behind last year, that's not a sustainable gameplan. Good teams lead from the front, and see off the inevitable challanges. Sounds like this is what we did last night, so I'm wrapped.

As others said, we'll get far more out of this at this stage of the season than strolling to another 10+ goal win.

pros -
The three 1's. They all just make me stand and cheer. I can see a Brownlow trifecta in the future
A fit Hadley, Houls and a new Johnson
The vibe that Robbo, AJ and a fit Eddie bring.
The defensive pressure of Fev.
The mindset the players now have - If they compete fiercely they can win.
Waits consistency of effort and leadership. The sine wave is now flattening out
Big Sammy's around the ground work.
Some very good players still in reserve.

cons -
Injuries

Regards Cazzesman

Pros:

* Not winning by a big margin.

* Being challenged and responding.

* Looking at the 4 Carlton players at the Centre bounce and realising that Judd is the only one that is not a #1 draft pick

* Grigg and Stevo pushing to come in next week

Cons:

* Jamo and Walks

I can see us going through a season undefeated, with the three 1's polling 44 brownlow votes each.

Pros:

Gibbs - Star. 91% efficiency for disposal, must put him in my Supercoach team next week before his value rockets.
Judd - 2nd quarter was freakish, for a guy who has had the flu all week
Murphy - Another great game, and his kicking for goal has improved dramatically
Kruezer - Great in the ruck, plays like a 200 game player with poise
Fev - Saved our bacon with two great goals at the end to kill off the Lions
Robinson - Quiet for 3 quarters then stood up in the last, 10 disposals and involved in key plays around the ground. GUN

Cons:

Jamos injury - We saw how quickly Bradshaw turned it on afterwards, hope its not serious
Garlett - I like him and see his potential, but his body is not ready yet and hes far too timid on the field
Russel - Too many turnovers in crucial moments of the game, should be dropped has had enough chances for mine.
3rd quarter fadeout
Bower on Bradshaw - He just couldnt match up on him, but to be fair its not his preffered role
Ray flower Chamberlain

You have absolutely no idea do you. Robbo played well very early on and had the Hird and Dunstall drooling over him yet you say he was quiet then you look up some stats and see he had ten last quarter possesions and therefore he must be a gun in the last. He must have had about 5 of those in the last two minutes whilst we played kick to kick.

Your comments on Russel are crap as well - I havent rated Russel at all but in past two weeks he has been very good - his disposal on the run has improved out of sight and he is starting to look like he believes that he belongs.

Obviously it would have been great to win by ten goals but the fact we were challenged and manged to win is a positive. We were not challenged last week and it's good for the young kids to understand that good teams generall win by playing 4 quarters.

Did you notice how tired the players were after the game, many just fell to the ground. They will learn from this, some will learn that playing AFL is not an easy caper. I'm sure Robbo will learn from this.

Oh no you didn't did you :yikes:

Good points though.
