How many grass roots footy supporters can afford to fly Emirates or buy a Lexus?

Collingwood supporters just switch to stealing a Lexus to support their club.

On next, sounds like a fair bit of the focus will be about Pratt...

Melvey is being a cautious troll.... How can the reported (on SEN) biggest sponsorship deal in the AFL not be enough for him ? As GWS said, it doesnt matter who the company is that sponsors us, its the amount of $$$ they tip in that matters. Hyundai is reportedly tipping in a MILLIONS!, so thats all that matters !!

To true, can someone pinch me.

BTW theres no way i'd ever aspire to owning a Hyundai, however any sponsorship is a good one IMO.

The Hyundai is a good car I dont know where people get this impression they are shit

We Compared the Santa Fe to the Kluger, Captiva and The Outlander and The Santa Fe shits all over them . What comes as standard in Most Hyundai cars are optional extras in the others. It reminds me of when the first Japanese cars came on the market people used to bag them but if wasn't for them you would be flat out getting A/C in the Austrailian built ones .

5 year warranty to back them up and we took out the extended warranty for 8 years.

good car - Good Sponsor

Half of Holden’s current vehicle line-up are re-badged Daewoo’s anyway!
Hyundai are a budget car manufacturer that has achieved reasonable market share since its launch some 20 or so years ago. A sponsor is a sponsor! The terms are generous. What more do people want?!!? Since when was the calibre of sponsor some sort of contest anyway!!!

It's a generational thing, people our age can remember when they first came out, and they were cheap pieces of crap. That perception is changing, it will just take many years. :)

5 year warranty to back them up and we took out the extended warranty for 8 years.

It's only a bit over 12 months ago that BMW Australia increased their warranty from 2 to 3 years.

I really hope that we negotiated the Optus sponsorship to include more dollars. We give them a hell of a lot of coverage, so its only fair.

The best we can do is Hyundai as a JOINT sponsor.

The club is associating themselves as what is percieved a cheap and nasty korean brand in Australia.

Visy had to come on board because we could not land another sponsor, and they try fluff it up by selling it as this enviromental awareness campaign.

Look at he pies, Lexus, Emirates, Mcdonalds, Sony

Carlton, Hyundai, Optus, Visy all second rate corporates.

I have to say I agree with Melvey here............ a lot of you are too sensitive when someone says something negative about CFC. If you take off your rose coloured glasses you may see what he is saying has some merit. I am not saying that Swann and Pratt haven't turned us around (if this were Smorgon we would have 'Joes Fish and Chips' as our sponsor), but we should be trying to get more big name sponsors...

Emirates is assosisated with BEST AIRLINE, CLASS etc.
Sony - Quality
Lexus - Prestige, Quality

Us............

Optus - Second Level Phone Carrier (no class, no prestige)
Hyundai - Good value for money
Visy - Tarnished image...........

You make the call........

Fair enough, but who's noticed anyone in the "Collonwood" army (other than Eddie) getting around in a Lexus lately? They're more likely to want to steal one, though.

It's all about dollars at the end of the day and I hope Swanny has them throwing plenty at us. Toyota No 1 car company in the world - are they a "prestige" brand?

Hungry Jacks for Coasters, Ford for Geelong, QBE for Swannies - who gives a twang what they're brand represents as long as they "....show me the money".

By the way, where was Avco in the pecking order of financiers......

Let's also see what else maybe in the pipeline.

Hyundai was around when we won our last flag, so the omen makes me feel warm and fuzzy.

Will they throw in an i30 for Juddy? Would he drive one?

Quote:
The new i30 CRDi performed better than an array of diesel and hybrid rivals to top the fuel efficiency stakes in the Greenfleet Technology Class at the recent Panasonic World Solar Challenge (PWSC). The i30 consumed just 3.2 litres of fuel per 100km, emitting just 97g of C02 equivalent per kilometre on the 3,600 kilometre journey from Darwin to Adelaide, outperforming Toyota's Prius hybrid and diesels from Peugeot, Audi and even a BioBike.

Its called brand assosication..............

If you are a quality brand you assosicate yourself with other quality products....

Not many grassroots supporters can afford a 2k a week drug addicition but that was still reason enough for sponsors to question their assosication with the eagles.... You brand is what it is associated with.... are we associated with prestige? No... Blue Collar... Maybe.

Please tell me you are not serious.

Lexus = Toyota

Just because you re-brand something does not make you automatically more pretigious.

I know that Lexus=Toyota.. but why do people pay the extra $$$$$$

FOR PRESTIGE AND DEEMED QUALITY...............

But it is all perception.

I'm not so sure that footy club members are so insular that they need their club to sign "prestige" brands in order to make them feel better about themselves.

Surely financial security and on field success are the real measures. The Pies can keep their prestige and we'll keep our longer term culture and climb back up the ladder accordingly.

What's even better is that Dwayne Russell plugs the Hyundai i30 every night on 3AW's Sports Tonight so he will be pushing our sponsor
