Top post. Thinking deaper that the one dimensional "get ONE extra pick at the top and be a force for 10 years". What a ridiculous thread title.

I agree with Don, Verbs, etc. Play the kids in the right positions, with the support of the right senior players to aid their development (which means no more game time for Saddo, Ackland, etc) and if we win, we win. If we lose 8 more, we lose 8 more. So be it. And if we need to rest players with niggling injuries or get those to surgery that need it, I would do it without question. Have them right for next year. Don't play Gibbs this week if there is any chance of his ankle being damaged further.

So in other words TANK!

shhhhhhh jar.. some of us want the pick but we wanna pretend we dont.....

Youll never finish losing till everything is right.
Players
Coaches
Recruitment
Development.
Off field.

We have a fair dinkum opportunity to help bolster up some of the chinks in our armour... playing list.
Ultimately.. theyre the ones that go out there each weekend to play for us.

Again a disgrace of a thread. The same posters who talk about development being our issue say our playing list is the issue. And the coach, the assistants, the game plan <insert>

So does that mean Bower, Edwards, Russell, Kennedy, Grigg, Anderson, Asaike, Hampson, Hartlett, Anderson, Carazzo, Setanta aren't talented enough? I'm looking forward to us winning this weekend - oh don't worry, we're a real chance. Stuff the picks, development is the key (as noted by some noted posters). Some views on this forum are so short sighted it beggars belief. Get development right, we may be able to get a 15% improvement with what we've got - get PP and need to wait years for it to come to fruition. What IF the PP lands another Livo? What then huh?

Maybe, but we're better off without him fullstop. As I said in a previous post, if we get nothing for him I couldn't give a rats - call me extreme but the guy is a negative on the performance of the team. Anyway, let's not confuse this thread, it's about the notion of wanting your club to lose, the administration wanting the club to lose and the players wanting the club to lose. Think about it for a second - there are supporters that want the club to lose ....

I don't want my team doing anything less than try their hearts out for the navy blue. week in week out... and for that matter, only players that are prepared to commit to this.

We already have two top notch kids playing and a few more in the higher pick bracket that haven't been tested yet, why do we want to add more ?

Let the professional administrators at the Club do their jobs and recruit/trade/delist et al.

I thought Swann and Icke are really good at this..so let do their jobs FFS !

Clever manipluations of players to ensure a PP is a very hollow victory IMHO.

FTM let the Club at the end of the year, pick the best possible indiviual to coach my Club to the next cup.

The road to success isn't paved with an endless supply of early picks ... just look at st.kilda !!

The best possible team at a point in time which is motivated, trained and taught to get the best out of themsleves is the way to the next cup +

all this talk of tanking really sh#ts me.

Had a couple last night did we AGRO?

Rocco I, fantastic post. It's a number of parts that come together - not just "gee let's get a PP and we'll be a force". And we won't know where we are really at 'till the end of the year, maybe even next year as we don't know yet how good our current list can become. I'd rather the guys get into a winning habit now, you can't just flick a switch when you feel like it. Keep losing and Gibbs, Murph etc won't want to stay around - and remember a champion team will nearly always beat a team of champions.

I think its quite telling that the Swans pre match discussion thread is all of 5 pages long and the various tanking threads are in the strathosphere.

I respect the fact you have an opinion I disagree with, but don't march out the drivel you have been posting. FFS, what a stupid and denegrating post.

The pro-tankers and the anti-tankers should stop having a go at each other, and direct their ire towards the true culprits.

The AFL.

It's their ridiculous system that has us at each other's throats.

Correct. The AFL changed the system last year, but got it wrong, once again. I hate the fact that I am sitting here even contemplating that my team might be better off by losing its remaining matches. It will be changed again after this year, all this talk about teams tanking must be shitting Denetriou.

He also got the Father and Son wrong. Just wait till this year's draft, and the complaints that come from it if there are father and sons around to consider. It too will be changed once again.

That's two major stuff ups from a man on $950,000 a year.
