Maybe we would feel less like losers if we had a captain that could actually touch his own toes????

And yet, when i got to work this morning I thought to myself, "@#$%&! these cauliflower. I'm going to spread the next three hours over TC, Terry Tate videos, online newspapers and gambling sites". Then I went for a two hour lunch and went home sick at 4pm.

Some days, the job can just go @#$%&! itself.

And it never effects their work performance, and people are so good at it that we now have personal leave entitlements just for kicks. This is planet Earth, I suugest you take a visit here sometime...

Get real!!!.. and like i keep saying... I HAVE IT ON EXCELLENT AUTHORITY he isnt worried about his brother and was enjoying the publicity even....

On very good authority!!!

Lances problem is apart from his body being all wrong for modern day football... he doesnt work anywhere near hard enough.
Lance needs to work HARDER than anyone else at the club to give himself every opportunity...
...Lance doesnt...!!!

So what you're telling me is that you don't have a mind of your own so you push a "good authority's" viewpoint. Nice one!
Synbad if you are a Carlton supporter, it's about time you support the Carlton team, you may not like all the players, as might I, however I accept that it is a team, pulling at the thread may make it fall apart. United we stand, divided we fall

Ever thought how Whitnall may be pulling at that thread from the inside and destabilising the team?

He's hardly setting a good example as captain when not getting a touch, out late drinking and embarrasing the club with a pathetic court appearance. Not to mention receivng massive money for 4 years with an output that hardly matched it, all while not presenting himself in shape.

George I agree with you about the court case but its a bit tough making it sound he is out drinking all the time. Up until Ballarat he had an unblemished record in that regard didn't he?

I was only refering to that ONE time.

But once is bad enough as a supposed leader.

Don't you think that the two were related, i.e get shane out of the head with a bit of a drink?

Only those in the club or more specifically his team mates can answer whether it is affecting the club. No-one on this forum has the right to make that call. Just becuase the Boss can't operate all the machines doesn't mean that he can't lead the company. The roll of captain has many fascets - communication, motivation, encouragement, respect etc these are qualities required both on game day and during training. Lets see where the team goes over the next 5-6 weeks before making judgement. We all agree that the coach can make an impact without playing the game, why can't a captain?

Bluebird,

I saw Whitnall on the Saturday the week before the opening game and he was eating red rooster chips and drinking a few VB cans while watching his beloved Lalor playing in a cricket grand final.
Do you think Nathan Buckleys and James Hird would be preparing for the season in that manner??

Didn't our greatest captain ever have a taste for take-away chicken products? :)

Look its probably stupid to do in this day and age but a couple of beers and some fast food is not a hanging offence is it?

Really depends on your waistline situation at the time.

As for the other anecdote, it's no wonder AW and JK are doing it. They're just following the leader...

I agree but is he preparing himself in the best possible way to get the best out of himself?? I don't think he is - Lance needs to understand that leadership is not confined to just the football field.

Using your theory,
Maybe we should have all shut up and let el presidente Smorgon run this club into the ground.
No thanks Comrade.

I think I might know more about Lance's preparation than certain people here will ever come close to knowing.
