Our transformation of mind has absolutely nothing to do with the coach, but with the assistants and a belief with each other, and the hope that they are at the end of this head coaching madness

I think before Pagan came we'd never had more than two 60+ losses in the Home and Away season.

Denis had 7 in his first year, 4 in his second and 5 in each of his 3rd and 4th seasons. The guy doesn't just break records, he smashes them.

Yeah, and he had a real good team, too.....

I'm glad we now have a failsafe way of determining who gets the credit for various coaching moves. All you do is wait until the end of the game and any move that worked is down to one or other of the assistants. Anything that didn't is down to Pagan. That makes it nice and simple

But a question: why the hell does Daniher keep sacking his best assistants in alternate years? ;-) How else could essentially the same group of players have bad years and then good years?

I'd love to know who really made the decision. I just rang a Carlton mate who should know, but didn't.....he thought it may be a bit of everyone...but doesn't know for sure. What he did say was what we all know and that was we needed to win games to attract revenue from members and sponsors, and kids were never going to achieve that goal.

Can you find the report where this was recorded BV? That should sort out this argument.

2. Propose a viable peace plan for the Middle East
3. Eradicate malaria

5. Get 2 and a half men axed

I'm pretty sure Murph can take care of these things, all Pagan needs to do is fill his glass up with water occasionally, record Family Guy when he's out and if he's really a good coach, then perhaps he'll take his calls.

Though Murph is pretty smart and quite rightly, he probably wouldn't trust Pagan to take his calls. Nothing against Pagan but I wouldn't trust him with the VCR either.

Regarded point five, giving Pagan the job of axing '2 and a half men' would probably see Charlie Sheen's comedy continue on for another couple of years due to something or other about contracts. For the sake of Marc's endurance, I'd give this to Adrian de Luca. Someone with a lot of free time and the ability to @#$%&! up anything he gets his hands on.

Looks like BV has been spending the last few days in the State Library working his way through back-copies of the daily newspapers. Either that or he thinks it's easier to make sweeping assertions without foundation ;-)

I've been doing that while I waited for your response, BV. I'll try to make sure that this disappointment doesn't affect my quality of life ;-)

But I always figured that your assertion was a natural outgrowth of your bias rather than anything factual, so I'd already braced myself for disappointment.

Tee hee. This is fast becoming my favourite thread ever.

How will BV respond?

Will Indie be exposed?

Just who DID decide on the retread route?

All this and more ...

Yes, I can see that your thoughts are based on pure fact and specific events.

I would think at the very least that Pagan discussed the trades he was envisaging with Sticks and Collo before they happened. I would imagine he would have discussed the pros and cons of replacing those senior players with mature players or TAC level players. It seems quite likely that Pagan would have pointed out that either strategy wouldn't have delivered too many players who would still be around in 2 years time.

"I would imagine"...."I would think"...."It seems quite likely"......

All in one paragraph!!!

Glad its not "a natural outgrowth of your bias rather than anything factual"

All comments that were intended to underscore that I didn't have all the answers and I was interested in sensible debate. But merely dismissing my comments as nonsense on the basis of your unverifiable assertion about the "record" doesn't amount to sensible debate.

At least I offered up some "records" to support my views. Your views are so strident that they evidently don't need to be supported at all.

MEEEEEOOOOOOOWWWWWWW!

Simple answer is WIN the GAMES THAT COUNT?

You know, Round 1, Round 2, Round 3, a win against the team that comes 10th, and the occasional win against a Top 8 team.

oh, and make that Top 8 team St Kilda.

The universe has been out of order too long.

C'mon BV, how about some records, and not those Paul Anka ones you have sitting under your gramaphone. :P

Totally agree, Athorn. The NAB Cup win was encouraging, but that's all. If we don't win one of the 1st 3 games, Pagan may well be axed then and there. 1 win wouldn't please the heirarchy, but 2 would probably see the daggers sheathed until the at least the 2nd half of the season.

The NAB Cup premiership may be more a millstone around Pagan's neck than a salvation. Perhaps because he was tired, and maybe a little emotional, but Pratt went from saying we'd win 10 to saying after our win that we'd win more than we lose. Expectations have been raised, and that might not be a good thing for Pagan.

I'm hanging out for our first 10 goal victory. That will be like the first bonk for a guy who's been in jail for 4 years. And, yes, it would be great if it was against the Aints

Quite right Athorn ;-)

Save an alter ego is one which is used in conjunction with another username. In my case, I don't have any other username to which I have access.

So there :-)
