"I make absolutely no apologies for trying to make the Carlton Football Club better," LoGiudice said of his $2.5 million offer to Wright.

"We have no intentions of stopping in trying to make us the best football club with the best people.

"I understand there is no quick fix. The system doesn't allow for that, [but] we are a great club, one of the leaders of the AFL, and we need to go from being a good club which we are at the moment to an outstanding club. We are prepared to pay what the market demands.''

"It's very disappointing the way it was conveyed," he said. "I have spoken to Shane [Rogers] about this. The plan is not for Shane to leave but to work in a better resourced recruiting department.

"We need to improve the recruitment and the development of our players. I definitely think it's an area in which we've been under-resourced."

"Andy McKay is a great leader of this football club and he will be staying at this football club."

Well said Juice.

Looks like he's doing the rounds.

Spoke very well on the footy show. Very definitive, professional and concise. Pretty much repeated what he said in Caro's article.

Been a while since we've had a president where English was the first language.

I liked this bit from MLG.....

"To become president, he says, is an honour but is quick to note change is needed.

“The club has great foundations, solid foundations, and I think we need to build on those foundations to get greater success than what we’ve had to date,’’ he said.

“We need to manage a bit of culture change. When I say culture I refer to things like getting the best people into the football club, improve the way we we do things, for example improving recruitment and development of our players, improve financial stability, we need to improve process, strategy and governance.’’
Membership is a priority off the field, and recruitment and development on it.

“Membership is one of the areas we have identified. We have to improve our communication with our members and supporters . it includes the entire football club.”

Asked about coach Mick Malthouse’s sometimes prickly public persona, he said: “I’m not here to tell people how to speak. We have a strategy in place, that may change as we go along, but at the end of the day, we’re all on the same path, the path of success.”

“I’m not going to sit here and say we’re going to win a flag in the next period of time, that’s not what this is about. There’s no quick fix.”

Hallelujah.... Sticks would have been shoving a 2 yr extension in front of Mick this season if given a chance. No one else is after MM as coach, absolutely no reason to think about contracts until he fulfills his current one, and he'd need to have us going way better than we are to offer him another year.

On the footy show Mark said Mick is absolutely the right coach for Carlton and can't see any reason why he wouldn't be coach past 2015. Contract extension is a mere formality was my takeaway from his interview.

What else would he say, considering it's the first time anyone's seen or heard from him?

Did we find out the correct way to say his name? I'm sure that would have been Brayshaws only question....

Before he was appointed I had no idea what he stood for or his expertise for the role.

Like most Carlton supporters I am a bit gun shy when it comes to CFC appointments. Having said that he is saying the right things and on early impression seems to be a man of his word and a doer.

Only time will tell but I hope like hell he is the man to lead us back to the top.

Agree. So far he is sounding a lot more Presidential and a lot less cliche-ridden. Refreshing to see and great to see him outlining that we want to be better and that we have to improve.

Will reserve judgement though until we see some concrete outcomes.

Haven't seen any of his interviews so can't comment on the tone (or "vibe" if you will). But from reading the quotes it's already refreshing to hear an honest admission that we can be doing things a lot better in a number of areas, rather than pissing down our backs or towing out clichés. Highlighting the shortcomings in recruiting, development, membership and comms specifically is heartening also, as these are the areas where we've lost the most faith (along with the team's inconsistent efforts).

Overall, it's a good, no-bullshit start. But now that he's stuck his neck out, it's time for action and outcomes. Show us a concrete, realistic plan that outlines our areas for improvement (based on an external review by a third-party) and how we are going to tackle these areas (no more of this "win X flags by 20XX" rubbish), and you might just see some of these "empathetic" supporters hop back on board in 2015 and beyond.

He is saying a lot of the right things. Things that us Carlton supporters have had concerns about regarding Recruitment, development, membership and the overall culture of the club having better communication with it's supporters. As we all know our recruitment of late has been mediocre at best and we really need to improve that, we're coming up to a critical point. If we do all the right things from here we can regenerate and build a good team, as we still have some top end talent, and have a few younger blokes in Menzel, Buckley, Docherty that will be important long term players for our club. If we don't build upon this and draft well, we'll be left behind and mediocre for years to come.

I'm willing to give him the benefit of the doubt at this stage. I like what he's saying, I just hope his actions now, and that of the board's, are consistent with what he's saying.

What a moron, I bet he is not even a member of big footy. He certainly does not have the insights of some of the great posters on this board. He needs to stfu and stop being so positive. As we all know there is no way we will dig ourselves out of this hole. EVER.

Agree with all the above. Small steps, but the first step to rehabilitation is to admitting that you have a problem.

Even as a club apologist, I was tiring of the same "We take the criticism on board, but we've got a lot of great people doing their best" etc etc shtick that the club would regularly trot out.

At the very least if I never have to hear the "We almost handed the keys in" anecdote again, then I'll take the handover as a win already.
