Isn't this meant to be announced today?

They're having the commission meeting to discuss it today.

AFL denies Carlton bid for priority draft pick
7Sport•24 Sep. 2018, 5:32 pm

Carlton have missed out on a priority pick after the AFL commission changed course on handing out assistance for this year’s draft.

7 News Melbourne’s Tom Browne reports the Blues’ application for an extra pick has been denied, with the club set to receive free access to state-league players.

The result of Gold Coast’s bid for a priority pick is unclear but it is expected the Suns will receive the same treatment as Carlton.

More to come…

AFL “Carlton need to ask for a priority pick”
AFL “haha, why did you ask for a priority pick, fools”

What was the point of that whole charade? Makes uppey.

Oh well. Easy come easy go.

Was the whole intent to simply humiliate us?
Great, thanks.

Don't forget though that we can trade whoever we pick.

Who's to say we couldn't use a player as steak knives in a deal if they're rated highly enough?

Personally it doesn't phase me a great deal. If it's true that we've been looking at Corbett and/or McAdam, it could be a blessing in disguise.

But what does annoy me is that the AFL have made this decision not because it's appropriate, but to avoid public outcry. The standard has now been set, let's see if they stand by it.

We are [REDACTED] as usual

So Tom Browne is an afl spokesmen, even if it is true, someone within the afl should be sacked for leaking this shit!! Or Tom Browne has no credibility!! Take you pick!

The AFL is constantly proving how useless they are at developing an even competition.

They'll flip it and won't give 2 shits. It's what suits their ideological stance on the 'national' comp with 'emerging markets' such as Sydney & Bris.

The pressure is now back on Bolts and crew.

This screws us but it screws Adelaide too. I suspect they’ll miss out on a pick in the low teens for MM now.
Best outcome for them is both 2nd round picks.

This can't be right, surely.

For me, all comes down to whether this has ‘blindsided’ the club and therefore our trade strategies to acquire the ready made talent we need.

If so, we’re [REDACTED].

They could have paid for dinner and a movie first! No doubt Mr 'flash as a rat with a gold tooth' will be on the TV tomorrow explaining how this is a good thing. Please Please SOS, when the time comes to pick out our 2 allocated Spuds stand up, look the AFL in the eye and call 'PASS'.
