Given the inevitable rise of Carlton as a team and club over coming years, its pretty @#$%&! abovious that a "Massive" sponsorship deal is coming our way.

I hardly see it as an amazing predication by this topics author. Especially considering how long its is taking for this so called massive deal to come through. I call it stating the obvious.

they are involved in woodchipping and pulp mills aren't they?

i was going to say that's not very 'green', then i realised that visy can't be 'green' and make disposable cardboard packaging can they?

has Juddy been hoodwinked?

Since when has reality and facts meant anything to environmentalists?

that's just some redneck post on a forum.

would you quote that as a reference for a uni assignment?

It goes both ways, but even if all that isn't true there's still the fact that the production of the electricity used to charge electric cars causes more environmental damage than equivalent amount of fuel used by a petrol car.

Did he actually say this/did this get raised or are you taking the piss?

Not taking the piss at all.

KB said - we have received a text message saying Carlton are about to announce a MASSIVE sponsorship deal can you confirm this.

Greg was coy and said something like; "well there is something coming up on sponsorhsips - maybe announced next week".

Greg also said Judd's number will be announced next week. He was asked whether it will be 3 - he said no that is Murph's number and he is keeping it.

That was me, sent in 3 sms asking about it.

Thought i'd drive them mad.

I'll sleep better knowing that somethings actually happening :-D

Great work Mark

Certainly got KB going and gave Greg Swann a chance to have a dig at him, well done!

i'm not entirely sure that's a fact, but i'll accept your word on it.

I hope i don't offend anyone, but i think the Prius/Civic hybrid thing is a fad at the moment, but ony because they are a little ahead of the power generation methods here in Australia now. In a few years when we generate our power more efficiently and cleanly the scales will tip heavily in the hybrid car's favour.

bottled water is interesting. I don't know for a fact, but i've been told that it takes four litres of water to make a one litre water bottle. not to mention the petrochemicals, and the fuel and pollution resulting from the freight of these things all over the world.

try spelling Evian backwards

sorry, way off topic

Didn't Rod Butterss state in a press conference that vodafone will jump to Carlton? I know this isn't the massive deal you're talking about, but is it a smaller sponsorship?

hummer makes sense
- big company brand that is making a concerted push into the australian market (in recent times high profile/visibility of hummer stretch limos, billboards, sponsorship of NBL)
- known for being big, bold, arrogant - fits in well with the blues image

I also think that hummer is moving away from a niche product into the mainstream. The new model H3 is pretty much a 60-70k 4WD - smaller than the traditional hummers so would be likely to be aimed at the mass market similar to other mid range 4WDs

I don't think the 'gas guzzling American SUV' image sits well with the Visy/recycling/green message though, eh?

Although I must admit, Hummer ties in well with Synners' MASSIVE call.

PS - the Luxury H3 is priced at $59,995 +OR/DD etc and their is a four month wait. Not that I have checked or anything

I also don't think GM have much cash to spend after writing off a Massive US$39Bil from their books this past week.

Well I went onto the Forbes website and listed below the top 32 companies in the world. All of these are MASSIVE!

I also pulled off the top 28 Australian companies. Some of them make some interesting reading....especially the company ranked 745 in the world. Would be rather ironic if it happened!

Take a look, make some comments. Perhaps Synbad could tease us all by saying the new sponsor is (or isn't) on the list.

Over to you all!

The sponsorship will be MASSIVE somewhere in the prder of 5 mill.

Vodafone didnt come to us.. because they would have to multply their $$$$ a couple of tmes at least.
Optus will remain a sponsor
I heard Hyundai are back in some sponsorship capacity also.

There all staying coming back or introducing themselves to us instead of running away....

People need to relax a bit, I think. Sports sponsorships can be complex beasts, and it's not like the good old days when the President's mate's company signed a small cheque in exchange for a seat in the box (not the richmond kind) and the chance to rub shoulders with the players.

Over the past few weeks, the club would've been calculating exactly how much this is worth to potential sponsors, in light of both the Judd signing and the AFL draw. 16 FTA games, and Judd's (logo-ed) presence in the media make a difference.

Brands like to be associated with sporting entities who'll not only give them visibility, but also positive associations. I'd say with every passing day (and forget the Pratt/ACCC stuff - that's a minor hiccup) our case just gets better and better.

But it's patently obvious that we're now in a position to financially benefit from the good work Swann etc have done, thanks to Pratt. I have no idea who the sponsor is, though. But they'd better bloody hurry up: I have a flight to book, a new PC to buy, I'm shopping for a car... and I need to know what to buy! :P

The best thing about getting Swann over is he made some ripper contacts during his time at Collingwood.
The Irish scout is one..
The massive sponsor is another......

................and.......... he met Judd and had a very fruitful (for us) chat with Judd in the Emirates corporate tent(Thats also a classic) last year...that chat crystalised into Judd at Carlton

I reckon instead of retiring the No.43, we give it to Swann.

McKay would surely approve.
