Who were the kids pushing through and conning on under ratten?

The truth is we've had nothing pushing through in years.... That will do it for you.

Terrible recruiting and development will poison you.

You don't get it I'm not disagreeing with development that's blatantly obvious.

Every decision malthouse has made from picking and parading the leadership contenders to the match day squads has been wrong.

I was never a huge Ratten supporter and for an experienced coach like malthouse he has made the same mistakes come structurally with his set up and game plan to picking teams and disciplining and teaching the players.

Well deserved backhander?

Was it an inappropriate question?
How was the backhander "well deserved"?

Ratts profiled what players he wanted...

It's his list!

He even signed hacks onto long term contracts.

He had no direction over recruiting for the modern game.

It was all about building a twenty man defence and give it to the champ. Lol

Laughable!

Where are our mids? Curnow Bell Cachia ellard?

Ratten was criticised for limited game time for subs and then immediately dropping them, Malthouse has done the same.
Ratten played defensively and was criticised and so has Malthouse with even more taggers boundary line game plan.
Ratten picked injured and under done players and was criticised and so has Malthouse.
Ratten was criticised for not dropping out of form players and playing them on reputation so has Malthouse.
Ratten was criticised for playing Henderson in the backline, three rucks, wrong players set ups and unbalanced teams so has Malthouse.
No direction forward and unstructured defence.
We have looked good on occasion because of individual effort and brilliance nothing more and the lack of opposition.

Our mids are playing forward and we have the taggers in the middle and Gibbs starting outside the square on most occasions.

What happens when Geelong, Hawthorn, Collingwood need to fight back the ascendency?

Who have they got in the middle and what set up have they got?

I quite like our players, especially Garlett, and he could also change over Yarran and Walker once in a while if he ever feels the need or move Yarran up field so we might actually get some run and better disposal going into the forward line.

That might be the 2014 blueprint thou.

Article in The Age was spot on. Ratten brought us back from the depths of dispair and 3 wooden spoons. We made the finals 3 out of the 5 years and we were devastated by injuries in the last. In typical knee jerk reaction mode we appointed an overrated coach who had one really good coaching stint at west coast who had some unbelievably good players. He was a disaster at the Bulldogs and it took him 10 years to win a premiership with a really great list at Collingwood. He wont play one of our best backman in Laidler ... he wont play our kids ... he has made some horrendous coaching decisions ... has made some outstandingly poor choices with match selection .. . has been heavily criticized by our greatest coach David Parkin not to mention Robert Walls and others. The whole exercise has been a complete catastrophe and so here we are ... about to start a rebuild.

As a Carlton supporter of 45 year I am sick to guts with what has happened ... and still people continue to defend the selection of the super duper coach. Yep ... The Age has it spot on.

The only possitive for me is that I am overseas for one more week.

I wait in anticipation for the next crazy move instigated by MM and the once might Blues.

Rats/Mick it may not really matter. Perhaps the majority of this crew just don't have the appetite to play high level ferocious footy. Perhaps the ol boys mgmt culture permeates down to the playing list.

BBW yes MM had a tremendous list at WCE. But his record shows he took the dogs to within a kick or 2 of a GF in his 2nd year of coaching & took a very average Pie team to 2 GF"s against the Lions. He certainly has some understanding. Whether its enough to pull us out of the mire remains to be seen.

Ratts Mick doesnt matter know you mean.... who cares?
Its done!!!

The question is how did we ultimately arrive at this dark place we now find ourselves in??

3 to 4 years of rebuilding.... and if thats if we do things correct now!!!

Why are we here?

Was that it???

Rebuild time???

same people in charge???

at least i know as FACT we wont be chasing hbfers exclusively from now on...

Roosy saying tonite that in his opinion we have a highly talented list that should be performing better.

It's funny that these talented players all of a sudden have lost their talent?
I'm worried we'll get in a bunch of dull plodders that will execute the coaches orders, and play mind numbingly boring footy.
yes, I'll be happy if we win, of course...
but I love the game style of the Cats..nicely balanced..plenty of room for joyful playing and artistry from those players that can.
I think we are seeing some downtrodden unhappy players, and it's geting worse.
I really hope I'm wrong.

Roos didn't want to coach them though.?.

I think at the last minute he opted in, but it was too late.
we should have waited. all too late now though.

amazing the number of people on here that say we have a crap list, start over again etc - didn't read these sort of comments when we won the first three games last year, only a few can put their hands up and say 'I told you so'

Who are the leaders?
Who are your forward talls?
What is the midfield??

Ask yourself that...... :screwy:

Start with the mids....

then tell us what their strengths and weaknesses are....

That would answer your question......

Are you kidding me????

ive been banging on about this for yearssss!!!!

ive been banging on about recruiting .... list management.. development.... ceo.... president... board...

im one guy you cant say "where were these complaints two years ago" to...

and u know why we have no midfield??... and we rely on half of it to be made up of rookies..

we have been busy collecting an army of half back flankers and slow talls...and concentrated in using rookie picks to recruit our premieship midfield...

why????

cos we had guys and still do have... guys that dont have a clue about the game...

and yes... ive never played a game of afl in my life.....

A largely complicit media went along with the lie that Malthouse was being handed a gift horse. What Malthouse has done is look that horse in the mouth and discovered it has some pretty *@#&ed up teeth...
