The whole membership number thing is a joke. Colonwood is currently selling a 1 game membership so they can get to 80 K. The numbers are so diluted now that we should either only count 11 and 18 game memberships or better the attendance at home games.

I'm hanging to take out a quarter membership. Hoping 1st quarter memberships will be cheaper than 4th quarter ...

Make it stop!

Can't say I recall the membership ticking over this late in the season before. I thought 1 July was the cut-off???

Collingwood are closing in on 80,000 members. My hubby and daughter are both legends members and received emails and calls with an offer.
If they nominate a new member and pay $50 the new member receives a 3 game membership (they have 2 home games left) and they receive a cap, scarf etc and the current member gets a $50 voucher to use at the Collingwood shop.
Effectively the existing member receives a $50 voucher for paying $50.
Not too much different to us giving away free memberships, which we got ridiculed for.

Now if you were a Company who does consider offering sponsorship to AFL or AFL clubs would you prefer to offer the sponsorship dollars to the club with 80,000 members or 50,000 members? Doesn't matter how many games they are offered in the membership package. We are talking about folk who are counted as members regardless of their financial commitment.

Bang for buck.

Carlton are only just working on giving us the opportunity to play more games at the MCG which should bring us more revenue than the Dome. But there's more to the membership tally than the MCG....have a look at Collingwood's list of sponsors against ours.

At least we don't do this......

Australia's consumer watchdog has accused the Collingwood Football Club of using ''half truths'' in an attempt to drive up its already massive membership.
The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission hit the club with two infringement notices, totalling $20,400, for advertising a membership deal that was one-sixth of the total amount that needed to be paid.
