Dick, Smith, Tutt and Wood will certainly or almost certainly be gone, yep. Jamison I think will retire; not too sure about Walker. The others are question marks. Buckley I would look at trading or keep for one more year. Graham likewise. One of Jones or Foster will be delisted. Viojo-Rainbow is another question mark, Armfield too. I would trade Everitt as well.
I would go with these names not being at Carlton in 2017:
Wood (rookie)
Buckley (trade)
Jamison (retire)
Dick
Smith
Foster
Tutt
Viojo-Rainbow
Everitt (trade)
Maybe another 1 or 2 more.

I think those changes will be pretty close to the mark. I wouldnt give up on Graham just yet, he showed a bit last year before his injury and I hope they give Jaksch another year.
What is interesting is that at this stage of the year the only re-signing so far is Cripps extending his contract. This is pretty unusual so I am not sure what is going on behind the scenes regarding player contracts.

I'm pretty sure Dick, Smith went under a couple of months ago.

I am not sure why we would keep Graham. He has been given a number of opportunities and has shown he is simply too slow and therefoe a liability when we don't have the ball and he doesn't have sufficient impact when we do have the ball. Seen enough to know his strengths and weaknesses and that he won't help us improve as a team. Definitely delist IMO.

As I said, I've put a :?: next to him (Graham). It really depends on how many players we delist. There's every chance he'll get some games before the end of the year. I agree he's a limited player but with a lack of depth in the midfield atm, he'll get his chances in the 2nd half of the year, then Bolton and Silvagni will decide what they see, or don't see then.

I think they'll give Jaksch another year too. Others can go before him. I can only imagine they are keeping their options open for players to trade, bring in new faces, decide how many players to draft and then come to a conclusion there.

You are probably right but I cant remember a year when not one player that was coming out of contract has not been re-signed at this time of the year. We have 20 players out of contract, almost half the list. Simpson will re-sign as I am sure Touhy will too. Casboult is the interesting one. Our only big forward and from reports it is his management holding off contract discussions, from memory this happened with his last contract.
The list management people have a lot of work to do.

Yeah I've needed to check the contract list update and Jaksch does have another year. The only name I can see which they should re-sign is Plowman. Tuohy and Casboult aren't re-signed either and while I'd like to retain them, they might be looked at on the trade table.

Presumably a one-year extension of the existing contract terms? Options cannot be unilateral or automatically triggered under the CBA.

Whatever they are, I hope it's not triggered/invoked. He's not much chop, unfortunately. Biggest waste of a top pick.

That's a fair start.

Add Graham, Kreuzer (post 2017 contract), Foster.

I don't think Sumner Lamb Wright Kerridge White Gorringe are long term prospects especially against GWS over the next 5-10 years.

Wright's on a one year contract, correct? He's played well this year; I think he'll get a 1-2 year deal. Sumner's problem is more his body than ability, I still have hopes for him. The rest are on 2-years or are not in the queue to be delisted yet imo.

I think Wrights good for us in 2016. He's smart, tenacious and doesn't give up.

Having watched the game against GWS we saw what they have and what it will take to match them if we are serious about flag No 17 and Wright along with the extras I added I think will be not be with us long term.

Delisted, trade or Retire, regardless of a contact or not, IMO,
Jamison, Everitt, Tutt, Jones, Whiley, Walker, Smith, Graham, Rainbow, Wood, Foster, Dick and Gowers.
Adam Tomlinson will be a target this year, maybe a 3 rounder..
Too many down hill skiers

With the news that Tom Mitchell has put his contract talks on hold we should be throwing everything at him to get him to the Blues. He is an absolute gun.

If there is no success with him (as posters have suggested) ... the focus should switch to Tom Rockliff whose contract negotiations with Lions have broken down.

Oh and we did have 5 picks in the top 25 last year through trades. I think these will be trades which will help us spring back faster. Hmmm, but I wonder how St. Kilda would do if they still had Goddard and Dal Santo?

Stk didn't spring back faster than us - they had a 4 year head start on the rebuild and are probably only a year ahead of us. We beat Geelong too if you forgot.
