Last year's draft and trade ins are starting to worry me
Boeky DVR Smith Whiley Tutt Jones and Jaksch don't seem to be pushing for selection
I know some are injured but it could be a bust year that could hurt us long term

I don't think Bolts cares about a players age but what they bring to the team. I thought Army was gone but after the last 2 weeks who knows.

My thoughts at this stage:

Dennis Armfield, free agent, aged 29 - One year (depending on other signings)agreed
Blaine Boekhorst, 22 - Two years or Trade Bait agreed
Dylan Buckley, 23 - Trade bait, otherwise one year agreed
Levi Casboult, 26 - Two years (if we can afford it) agreed
Matthew Dick, 21 - Trade or de-list. no trade currency, so likely to be delisted. I would be quite happy to see him moved to the rookie list
Andrejs Everitt, 27 - Trade bait (otherwise one year, depending on form)he will want more than 1 year. We can't afford to lose him for nothing. I wonder if another club (Essendon*? Gold Coast?) will get in his ear to walk into the PSD if we don't offer him a 2 year deal on decent coin? Last year might have been the time to trade him
Jayden Foster, turns 21 on Wednesday - One year or rookie line ball if he will be delisted or retained
Andrew Gallucci, rookie, 22 - Don't know probably gone, but our need for a small forward might mean we persist with him for another year on the rookie list
Billy Gowers, rookie, 19 - Don't know probably delisted
Nick Graham, 21 - Two years (assuming $ are reasonable) trade or 1 year
Sam Rowe, 28 - One to two years (depending on form) agreed
Ciaran Sheehan, rookie, 25 - Don't know.assuming he wants to stay, he needs an injury free run at it over the next couple of months - otherwise he might be gone
Kade Simpson, free agent, 32 - Depends on him. One year seems fair.agreed, but didn't I read somewhere he has committed to one more year? (I might be wrong)
Clem Smith, 20 - Rookie /one year / de-list delist
Zac Tuohy, 26 - Two years, or Three years (if the deal is right) agreed
Jason Tutt, 25 - De-list agreed
Dillon Viojo-Rainbow, 20 - one year? delsit
Mark Whiley, 23 - Trade bait?? On year?? same as my comments for Dick
Cameron Wood, rookie, 29 - De-list.agreed
Matthew Wright, 26 - Two years1 or 2 years

No love for Foster and Gowers? :P

They definitely have their work cut out for them, if not for this off-season, then definitely the next.

I think Boekhorst, DVR & Jaksch can play a role long term. I'm not sure any of the others will though.

IMO, the list of players below will be in trouble come years end.
Wood, Dick, Tutt, Whiley, Jamison, Foster, Smith, Gowers, Gallucci, Jones and Rainbow.
Some may reprieved and placed on the rookie list.
Some may have contracts and survive because of that.

McKay, Jaksch, SOJ, Curnow and Casboult will provide a good base for our forward line.

Weitering, Plowman, JGM, Docherty, Tuohy, Rowe and Byrne will provide a good base for our back line.

Murphy, Gibbs, Cripps, Kerridge, Cuningham and Curnow, good base for our mids.

Kreuzer, Phillips and Gorringe, all three can play.

Thomas, Wright, Boekhorst, Lamb, Sumner and Armfield can rotate through the wing and forward line.

Walker, Everitt and Simspon will play maybe a year or two at best.
With our first pick we always go BEST AVAILABLE.
Our needs in no order,
1. 2/3 more mids who can kick
2. A quick small/medium forward
3. Another tall forward
4. Another tall defender

Something tells me, Adam Thomlison will be our target this year.
I have been keeping an eye out this year, he has been dominate in the twos, gets a run in the ones and had 18 touches and 4 tackles and gets dropped, interesting....
Anyway it's time to smash the saints and have a few frothies, thanks Bolts..

No judd , no carrots, so our clearances rely on cripps and.........? With a decent opposition ruck and midfield, cripps effectiveness is curtailed too easily as we have no other big body in there. Is there an alternative setup given our current list?
Could charlie curnow play as that second inside clearance mid? He has the body size and fitness (pre glandular) but does he have the quick clean hands?
Or alternatively we could have kreuzer as a ruck rover and philips takes the tap. Again does kreuzer have the necessary quick clean hands in close? At the moment he bullocks his way through the contest with his second efforts tackling and shepherding, but can he dish it out like cripps?

Big k as an extra mid will leave us exposed on the defensive spread in my opinion. He would have to play a blinder in close to balance that out.

Posters here trying to turn players into something they are not. Sound familiar?

Play players to their strengths and recruit for what we need whether through the draft or smart trading as last year.

One of them can be Docherty, Cunningham/Boeky need to develop and then it's just a good draft away

I was shocked when when we put Ratts into the guts for an extended period when it happened, when was the last time we turned a running defender into a genuine midfielder?

Back pocket has historically been the spot to earn the right to go into the guys... Reckon they should have tried it with Tuohy already

If further list spots are required I'd look at Buckley, Armfield & Viojo-Rainbow next.

Depending on what we'd get back; Everitt, Rowe, Casboult, Graham, Buckley, White, Walker, Jones & Tuohy could be traded. Some of those would be unlikely to attract an offer though.

I suspect Jamison will retire.

Gowers, Wood, Galucci & Sheehan can be delisted.

Armfield? Have you missed the last two weeks?

I've seen them. Been very impressed too. But we are in the middle of a rebuild and at some point 30 year olds need to get turned over for younger talent. There are enough player in front of him on my list that I think Armfield could be safe for another year, but his time is limited.

Re: Armfield, been my thinking for a while cecil (remember he was our last player signed for this year). And at a guess I reckon we could be looking at drafting another 5 new players in what is meant to be a deep draft.

Not sure about him. This is the guy who walked around Mortlake vanadalising car(s). Excuse offered was he thought he was in a wrecker's yard.
He is from Mortlake, it's his home town, he would know where the wrecker's yard was located.

Fair chance he's a flog.
