In the gun are:

Scotland "Retire"
Judd "Retire"
Carrazzo "Retire"
Waite "Retire"
Buckley
Lucas
Robinson
Yarran
Rowe
Bootsma
Armfield
Bell
Duigan
Curnow
Casboult
White
Ellard
Cachia

I expect between 10-12 of those players departing either by retirement, trade or delisting.

I am hoping we will also have some salary cap room.

Carrazzo contracted until end of 2015 :banghead:

Would say Curnow has a 2yr contract now as well, end of '15....? Bell has an option for '15 after his upgrading this year.

+ FA's of Walker, Murphy, Gibbs, Simpson, Jamison for next year.
+ McLean & note sure on Andy McInnes's contract status and Jeffy's out of contract end of '14 too.
And then Menzel, Temay & Graham will be due as well.

2015 sees Kreuzer, Henderson (biggest signing to chase), Watson & Warnock along with Army, Boots & Carrots + the Irish rookies.

Tuohy is the only one locked into 2016, though not sure on what deal both Everitt & Docherty signed up for?
Thomas until 2017.

I suspect the predicted demise of Judd is greatly exaggerated. With a good preseason and a bit of luck with injury, I suspect he can still be one of the best midfielders in the comp.

They way I see it, if you break down the positional lines,
Defenders; Tuohy, Simpson, Walker, Jamison, Watson,
Giles, White and Armfield (shutdown smalls).
Rucks; kreuzer and Warnock. Wood (until we draft a project one).
Forwards; Waite, Henderson, Yarran, Garlett, Menzel,
Johnson, Everitt and Reynolds..
Midfielders; Judd, Murphy, Gibbs, Robinson, Bell, Curnow,
Cripps, Carrazzo, Thomas, McLean and Docherty..
The list of our core players....

I expect that as well but I also believe he will walk away at the end of 2014. No information, just a gut feel.

Yep, I think your spot on regarding Judd's retirement , begin the consummate professional he is I also get the feeling that 2014 may be his last.
Obviously Scotland will call it a day and it will be interesting to see how Waite holds up, performs too .
Add these to an other player clean out and It may well be a year of major list changes ahead.
Ciao

Yep. Everyone seems to forget he was hampered last preseason by a hamstring injury and he only played the last NAB game. With better preparation this year, I feel he could still be more than handy and not as useless as some our predicting.

I'm more looking forward to a fit Murphy. A lot seem to forget (not necessarily Carlton supporters) that he won our B&F in 2011, was fave for the brown low with Judd & won the AFLCA award. 2012 he was just as good before injury.

He'll definitely walk if we suck in 2014. But if things look promising for 2015 I think he will play on - hopefully with a pay cut.

Waite is the one I see finishing in 2014 whether he wants to or not. He either retires or the club gently pushes him.

I think the big thing holding Murphy back was how much he bulked up. He got to a ridiculous body weight through overtraining and it really hurt his game once the inevitable wear and tear kicked in.

Last year he shed a few kilos and it did him wonders by the end of the season, as well as the continuity without injury.

Waite's retirement depends on the state of his body. He is mentally the best I have seen him at AFL level in a long time, and he is capable of being a dominant forward in the competition.

Carrazzo is on big money, old, and hasn't been able to get on the park the last two season...

Clubs like Geelong, Hawthorn, only give players of Carrazzo's age one year contracts... and they have to be stars to be receiving the sort of money Carrazzo is receiving.... no wonder we have salary cap issues :banghead:

Carrazzo's age has nothing to do with his injury in 2012. An 18 year old would have suffered the same injury if he were driven into the ground like Carrazzo was.

But it has everything to do with his calf struggles in 2013. However, he re-signed with us before he was injured this year. When he signed there were no signs of his age affecting his form.

..he dropped off his defensive efforts this year yes,and a little last season towards the end i think as well.. ..no-one deserves special treatment of excuses, but by the same token he has many 'credits' in the bank so to speak as well.. ..i also think that he has worked hard both ways, the thing that helped set Judd apart from so many other players was exactly his huge work rate.. ..for years and years it seemed that almost every contest anywhere on the field, Judd would be involved or on the fringe.. ..his ability to get to contest after contest after contest was great.. ..older battered body, no-preseason and hammy issues curtailed his ability to work hard all game long.. ..it's not just about his two way running.. ..his ability to be influential for the entire game dropped off, it's why he'd be quiet and then smash a quarter apart..

..a good preseason, a fit body and mind, and to be truely, genuinely relieved of the burden of carrying the team will see him have another couple of strong years i have no doubt.. ..but the miles and smashings he took at wce and blues will take its toll eventually, plus the extra burden of carrying so many team mates over the years [elim final vs tigers proves he has to still carry us]..

..thing is though, even at his peak, judd has always been a prime mid, first and by a long way foremost.. ..to get the most out of him [and bang for buck], he needs to be one of the prime mids, he is still a clearance machine, and can still be damaging.. ..but we need to [finally] wean ourselves off his greatness, cos even the best champions eventually wear out..

Ive found juddy always to be poor defensively with what is the benchmark required today to play the game...
As a captain the past and a leader its definitely a huge fail for the club..... too many guys pick and choose when to do it.
Sydney final made that quite obvious!!

..for most of juddy's career, he has been tagged.. ..he may is 'see ball get ball' and so isn't as accountable to his direct opponent as he should be yes [but does have decent tackle numbers as he is very strong inside the stoppage both offensively and defensively], but i think that's more his defensive flaw.. ..i think the two way running aspect is more this season, and possibly due to not being as conditioned and fit as he usually is..
