On AFL360 last night I got a shiver down my spine when Maclure said "I hope McKay gets the CEO job...

He's a good footy person.

He knows the club.

He's good mates with Gill McLachlan..."

I think Eddie Maguire smells an easy kill with Gillon.

Close, but I reckon Jezza was better. And Walls was probably a better all-round forward too. But gee, Fev's close. You and I saw him do things at training that I'd never seen NYONE do before, and he replicated most of them in matches.

I'll never forget that game against Essendon* in 2008, where he hadn't kicked a goal up till 5 minutes before half-time and we were 48 points down.

Fev kicked 8 from there (AND should've kicked a ninth, but handpassed to Stevens from 15 metres out), and we won a classic game. That was probably as good as Ratten was ever going to get with some great moves (Hoops into the centre, etc).

Kernahan was a forward as well. People tend to forget the total package required to be a good footballer.
Fev was just a good footballer and nothing else.

He was the best and worst forward - it depended on which Fev turned up.

I went and watched him last weekend against Albury Tigers. Sooky Fev turned up that day. Just had his head down, didn't chase and didn't care. Next week he will kick 10.

Agree. I rank Jezza, Kernahan & Walls ahead of Fev for those reasons alone. For what they did for the club they were better. Let's not forget Soapy Vallence either.

He is one of the best individual, undisciplined, selfish players I have ever seen but definitely not the best forward at Carlton I have ever seen.

Are you sure you're not talking about 2007? Pagan still coaching. We had a big comeback in that game. And Fev kicked 8 and only kicked his first just before half time.

Yeah, probably. Whichever year it was, we won it. ;-)

I don't know if he'd be a good CEO or not but I'd really like someone from outside the org.
