But the point of this thread is so weird. It seems that he's illustrating the fact that Sydney have more veterans than we have, and are therefore a better team..... but.... that's fairly obvious!!!

Is the discussion then, that we should have recruited more 25+ year olds? Or that we should have done more to retain the ones we had? (ie. Hulme etc) Or that we'll be just plain crap??

Certainly we can't carry the same Sydney leadership ideology to our list, because its so different. We need to find one that works for our list.

I don't think this thread really gets into that issue. From all I can see, this thread only points out the fact that Sydney finished 14 spots above us!

TheGame talked about his motivation being the anti-Kouta-for-captain sentiments in here (correct?). But the main protagonists of that, like Synbad, only discuss their belief that Kouta isn't the right captain for our list. Our list is so different to Sydney's that they can't really teach us anything, except that maybe in 3 or 4 years time we're likely to be a better team!

I agree with what Verbs wrote. There was nothing wrong with TheGame's post. He threw up some numbers/facts. If you don't like it, read on or start another thread. Don't go on and on and on like a mad man about how TheGame's post was lacking in substance or whatever.

Mate, I'm just asking for a point to the stats. I can't understand the purpose of the thread

On the one hand TheGame's original post was stating the obvious, yet on the other hand it was a thought starter.

Seriously is this still going on? Tyrant you don't get this thread then fine move on. I don't get how you think Setanta is ready to play in the last line of our defence or I don't get how you think players should get games based on what number they were in the draft but I don't dismiss your thread as nonsense. Let it end.

only after we jumped on the stats and tried to elucidate the point of them.

Quiet. I have an Abbot and Costello moment going with Speakers here. We're just about to be chased by the mummy.

This is why "discussions" with people you don't know are problematic. I can't tell if you're all intentionally incorrectly paraphrasing me, or you don't understand the original points.

Excuse me, while I retreat back into a world of my own genitals, where discussions are rounded and interesting.

ta!

Ok npw you got me going.. how did it do that????

Did he run a tighter ship than any other captain???
Did he keep his team together from falling apart??(beaumont allen manton his mate campo) yes i know manton was before that but did he have no influence over his peers but became captain???

What happened to Angwin and Norman???.... did anyone try to hold them together???
You do know that both of them got the silent treatment.

Do you know that Kouta is a great man to bond a team together??For example does he spend alot of time with the kids.. going out and inviting them around to his house for a barby??I know he does but its like once a year....
Stays back at training????

What is it Kouta actually does to captain a side??Does he set an example by chasing his opponent...

What is it The Game????

Whats he do to prove he is a great captain???

Perhaps he instills the kind of pride in the boys so we get no more 100 point thrashings!!!

Do they look proud to you????

Getting trippy when you cant see reality my boy...

Hes just a guy that cant wait to go home and water his tomatos....

Synbad how difficult do you think it must have been for Campo - Kouta - Lance etc to show leadership when it was clear for everyone to see that tha side had now taken on a rebuilding process and tanked an entire season and this has been more evident with Pagans comments today saying it should have happened in 2004 .

Now boys I want you to go out there and show them how to lose so we can pick up good draft picks and they will win us out next flag sometime long after you blokes have long gone. - Dont forget you guys are leaders show them the way boys show them true Carlton Culture.

What did Campo say about not enjoying his football

I think its about time you stopped an thought about it from their angle

Wow - it finally worked.

The Game's initial post seemed pointless (or at least bloody obvious) to many of us but his follow up posts (#3 and #6 in the thread) appeared to expose the real intent of the thread which appears to be baiting those who question Lance and Kouta and now he's got a decent bite.

It only took five pages.

Geez people are slow...

When I started it the debate was in the other thread, in hindsight I should have posted it in there to avoid confusion for the non footy people.

Campo not enjoying his football????

Is it because Williams Brown Rattern are no longer there to spoon feed him.. and Bradley being the main focus for the opposition???

Surely he was never going to be spoonfed like that again... and if he wasnt does that mean he shouldnt enjoy footy???

Thats laugfhable because does that mean for as long as he was on huge money he would enjoy it.. even though he didnt perform.. but when he received 250k and 31 he cant enjoy it????

See the problem with Kouta , Lance, Campo.. and now filtering in to Stevens Fev etc... and can threaten to devour the kids is they all think the same way.. it was always about them first!!!...the club a distant 6th in priorities...

Aussie Jones and Caydn Beetham didnt enjoy their footy and they made much less than Campo.. never won a premiership but didnt bag the club.....

Kouta Lance and all those blokes are alone because their mates didnt roll up their sleeves and put themselves fort where alot of other over 25 year old / leaders/ senior players havent.

Do you think Darcey and Brad Johnson always enjoyed their footy.. (Chris Grant)

or um... Harvey Burke Loewe????

There are clubmen and leaders and there are scumbags in life.. unfortuantely for us we have been blessed with such a succesful team that like the Roman empire it was set ablaze and like Nero.. our senior players and others around the club have been playing their fiddle in lal la land....

There is NO EXCUSE for a softcock like Campo to say "Im not enjoying my football"... NO EXCUSE!!!..

We made the ratboy!!!
We GAVE him a premiership...!!!
We GAVE him millions!!!
WE GAVE him the contacts for his business...

Where the hell did Campo get into printing all by himself!!!

Golden spoons in alot of mouths that have done little to deserve it...!!!

Then you get your captain 'supporting' what he did...!!!

Theyre surely in dreamland..

Hopefully the real world catches up the boys in the bubble somewhere along the line and they really see how good they have had it by this club!!!

Lucky I'm here then, ey?

Lucky you still have the Tyrant.

YOU ALL still have the Tyrant!!

By "non footy" people, I assume The Game is referring to people who can construct arguments and see through poorly constructed ones.

You're a good writer Tyrant but starting threads like Murphy should play ever game is something a 12 year old would write. Why you have chosen to hang it on me I have no idea but looking at the 2 threads you started you shouldn't be throwing any stones from your glass house.

I'm raising footy issues... points of discussion that you personally don't agree with, though some have. You posted up a couple of stats, made a rather obvious comparison between 2 sides that was Captain Obvious-esque, and have now proceded to make no salient point about Kouta/Captaincy... what it means to be a leader... how different leadership groups suit different contexts.... etc etc...

Our threads are chalk and cheese. My threads offer reasons. Points of view. Our threads would only be similiar if I'd popped up some stats comparing DeLedio and Murphy and then said "there.... thats why both players were pick 1".

Maybe I am going overboard..... or maybe just bored.... but there's nothing of substance in this thread..... including my overboard-ness.

BTW, you haven't at all tried to engage intelligibly with my 2 posts! You haven't tried to show the importance of experience on the last-line (rather, just anecdotally given your opinion on the matter without evidence), and you haven't shown how playing Murphy too early would be damaging for the team (again, without evidence)

I've at least demonstrated in here how the Sydney case and doesn't apply to us, and our the Sydney case doesn't support or weaken the case for Kouta as captain, by arguing context.
