The truth is;

Like today we just can’t play 4 quarters. It’s very rare if we do. We’ve proven that time and time again.
Also, like today, we waste so many opportunities i50 when we are dominating and can’t take advantage of our momentum’s. Teams know if they put numbers back and hold us , we will crumble soon and they will take their chances.
When our midfield is dominated, we don’t have the tools to defend and the flood gates open. Hence why teams can score successive quick goals. This happened in the 2nd half today and with Pittonet being absolutely smashed, SoS taken out of the game, it was only a matter of time.
Looks like SOS has become so valuable to us back there in 10 games, it’s laughable. TdK might be the 2nd most important player to us now. This is a real concern.
Lastly, we don’t play for each other. As a team we don’t have enough mongrel, and we don’t protect each other. So many teams know we are mentally weak and they can easily put us off our game. You see other teams beating us up, yapping at us and even bullying us. It’s become that obvious.

I just don’t understand how they can keep holding their heads high, thinking they’re good at what they do.
That's a tough assessment but sadly I agree. That game felt lost more above the shoulders than anything. Which is terrible because we showed we're capable of really digging in against Geelong & St K.

These players need to understand you have to do it every week!! We are simply not hard nosed & uncompromising, 100% of the time, like the top teams from over the years.

The umps robbed us again when they let Blakey come off his line too early to spoil Charlie, when he played in like he usually does and surely would have snapped a goal, if he wasn’t smothered. No one here has brought this up yet. We should have been two goals closer on the board, with the Heeney goal that shouldn’t have been.
When the game is in the balance and you are delivered the ball 20 meters out on a not to difficult angle you don't set up to snap the ball on your opposite foot then change your mind play on and try get past 2 players and make the angle worse.

He has the skills and athleticism to be the best player in the game but he has a brain the size of a pea.

In the absence of cincotta we really don't have a capable lockdown midfielder for Heaney Warner types

Blakey came off his line dude. They even commented on that on Fox Footy. Should have been a 50m penalty in favour of Charlie.

BUT !

That had to be the worst umpired game for a very long time, you can see the players even don't understand what the hell the yellow idiots are doing most of the time.

Grundy can hold Pittonet with two hands/arms at every ruck contest yet somehow win free kicks.

Laura Kane and Dillon need to @#$%&! off, the game stinks at the moment.

You look at those talls we have up forward and it is like the wizard of Oz with Lion Scarecrow and Tin man.

And the other doesn't have a brain

Did he give you the cold shoulder (twice)? Isn't it time you gave them back?

If Charlie had on gone back lined up on his proper foot and kicked a drop punt it would not have mattered what Blakey did

Inexcusable, inept performance. Not AFL standard.

All our shortcomings laid bare for all to see. Last quarter was a disgrace and spoke volumes.

Have never, ever had any consistency in the Voss era. Ever.

Too many players are liabilities. We have the worst small forward group in the history of the game.

Skill level was bush league.

Both Hollands boys can @#$%&! right off. Elijah must of been high and Ollie faults outweigh his positives. Absolutely shat himself in the last.

We will never reach the promised land with this pea heart playing group and sub par coaching panel.

Wallsy would be rolling in his grave.
I agree with most of this.
But not the Holland's.
Ollie provided heaps of drive and intercept: really stood up.
Elijah had less impact but tried to create and I reckon he had a dip.
We would be worse without either of them.

Just had a coffee chat with a Swans supporting mate. Couldn't help myself being a bit whiney and ungracious. But I strongly feel we had that game for the taking before a combination of umpiring bullshit, complacency and eventual mental frailty handed the game to them. Of all the things that beat us, the Swans were last on the list. I'll concede that Heeney busted a gut, but like the rest of them his skills were poor. It was mentioned early in the game that they're 18th in the league for contested marks, and it showed. Aargh! So mad we lost against this rabble.

Point taken regarding Charlie needing to have taken the shot and not playing on. Appreciate that point. However Charlie Curnow is not the reason Carlton lost the game. He kicks the goal and Carlton still get overrun in the last quarter with the crap they dished out after three quarter time.

Used up a lot of energy in the 1st when we were on. They sat back and absorbed and still managed a few against the trend. The one from a kickout set play was pretty bad by the Blues.
Playing silvagni injured turned out to be a disaster.

Agreed, Seems like a Mickey Mouse competition at the moment with all these novelty rounds e.g “opening round” etc.

I also don’t understand this new deliberate out of bounds when the ball is kicked off the ground…its unnecessary!!!

Voss says we had the game where we wanted to 3 qtr time... do we plan to win games by under a kick?
How about, we dominated the first and should've been further ahead?

I hear a lot about us not playing 4 quarters... that is unrealistic as all teams struggle with that most games. It's all about damage control when the tide turns.
Swans were always going to go up a gear at some point... problem is we struggle to match it when teams turn the screws.

It’s obvious this list is cooked
Talented top end with zero leadership skills
Bottom end poor although it doesn’t help having zero leadership on field
Jagga Smith no matter how good he is isn’t going to change things

Give Lemmey and Wilson a go next week for Boyd and JOS
Get someone next year good tactically to help Voss and if things don’t change at least he sees out his contract . Sacking coaches prematurely hasn’t worked and someone hard edged to harden these softcocks by replacing 2 assistants
Paul Roos I think would be ideal
He is a modern thinker but wouldn’t hold back
Something like that has to happen
I listened to a podcast with Wallsy yesterday
When he was helping Bolton GWS pansed us and all
the players were worried about was could they get an early flight out of Sydney
It’s the only time Wallsy was there where he spoke up to the contrary
Softer than warm fairy floss
DeKoning goes at the end of the year get a top 5 compo
Trade McKay just so soft
There’s 2 top 10 picks
Blood Hudson O’ Keefe later in the year
O’Farrell looks ok
Pitto is backup only
Do nothing expecting things to change is a recipe for disaster with Tasmania coming in

I know the optimistic types will disagree
Ask that questions at round 19

Agree the umpiring has become a real issue, when the opposition receive all what they call 50/50, and we receive nothing, especially to our key forwards, who are just manhandled at every contest. He wears his heart on his sleeve however he is conditional when he chases and pressures. Need to get better here.
