From the last replay in that clip I'm satisfied it was unintentional, but so was Fog's last year and it was "too bad you should have been more careful, 2 (3?) weeks". Love to hear the justification for that.

They're playing Carlton next week... justified

Dow is still recovering at the Aints from this.
Thanks. Must be pretty bloody grotesque

He had 3 surgeries at Christmas to clean it out.
And still not back after 3 months.
I hope Harry doesn't have the same.
Sounds pretty nasty.

Why not have Gov AND Boyd. We need more proficient kicks out of defence, doesn't have to be one or the other. Having several good options means the bloke who takes the attacking kick is more likely to do so under less pressure.

I agree. Leaving Gov out means we have not improved our run and carry and kicking across HB. Gov stays and Boyd comes in. Govs games was a vast improvement from Rd 1. He can and should do better. Playing in the twos achieves nothing for the team.

So Boyd in and one of Lord, Young or L.Campo out.
I also would like to see Carroll and White in but can't see that many changes happening without injuries!

Carroll didn't make it on the park for the reserves last night. This bloke is quickly heading down the Marchbank Martin and Cunningham route

But if Carroll is OK, his form warrants selection if fit from what Ive seen.

Hope you're wrong about this kid being injury prone.

A rolled ankle that didn't come up 100%.
Hasn't played a competitive game of football in the best part of 2 years.
Hasn't even played a reserves game for points yet.
I have no idea how anyone could even suggest he is ready to step up to AFL level.
He was ok against GWS in practice game but if we played GWS tomorrow for 4 points the result would be reversed.

Let's see Carroll string half a dozen games in a row in reserves before we have him up as another white knight.

Problem with Carlton supporters we are so starved of success we turn bit part players into AA super stars who are going to bring us 17 ,18 and 19

Sent from my SM-F956B using Tapatalk

I am pretty certain I did not mention at all Carroll as an AA super star. I am not sure where you dragged that from. All I was suggesting is that we need more run and carry from HB and he can do that as well as being able to kick the ball well.

I see Dangerfield’s arm slipped too. Only thing consistent is their inconsistency

I haven't yet written off our season however we must win this week.
McKay and Boyd need to come in the side with Young and one of Lucas/Fogarty to be omitted. I like Lucas however am not sure he is ready yet.
I'd give Kemp one more chance up forward to see how he performs as a 'third tall' playing on a dry deck alongside Harry and Charlie.
JSOS to move back to defence.

Me neither but I do have concerns with JSOS, Haynes, Young and Weitering all in the backline together. Are the Bulldogs that tall up forward that we need so many talls in the backline?

Of course he will play and we will just bomb it to him and Lobb all day.

Lock it in.

At the very least we have to chop two lumbery players and replace them with running players.
Kemp and one of Haynes and Young. Then see if we can find a way to replace Cowan with a hard running player.
Bring in Fantasia, Boyd and Binns.

If we want pressure we need to pick a team that is capable of applying it for the full 120mins. Should be a starting point in the modern game.
Silvagni FWD. Only play one of Charlie and H.

I'd certainly drop Young and maybe Haynes as well.

Chloe Williams reporting:

McKay didn't train again, Curnow and Cottrell on light duties.

Durdin back in full training - guessing plays 2 this week.

Jack SOS training with backs, Kemp with forwards.

Focus on d50 exits

... Only because who do we drop...agree Gov is a good kick, but effort, pressure, marking have been non existent.

Go Blues

Agree

I'm tired of waiting for him to change.

Can't kick it if you can't get it.

He doesnt like contact.
Can't have two like that in the backline (Young the other)

I thought Cowan was good for most of the Richmond game; his burst through for a 50m goal suggested he was stepping up to the next level. Faded badly and was crap against Hawthorn, though. For team balance, I'd probably drop Haynes before Cowan, even though the former was much improved on his Richmond debacle. Against a smaller attack, I'd replace Young with Haynes.

vs. WB:
Cowan Weitering McGovern
Hollands Young Saad
Interchange: Boyd
(SOS forward)

Having Boyd plus Gov in the 7 also makes it easier to do the switcheroo between SOS and Gov because we'd still have ample kicking skill out of D50. We really ought to do more of this kind of thing: SOS looked for a moment like he'd single handedly drag us out of the humiliation last week.

I was really surprised to see Cowan struggle to keep up with Richmond players in a foot race. One cost us a goal.

I thought he was quicker than what I saw.

Maybe its his ability to break lines after a baulk and dummy.

I still love his eneavour and his crash and bang style (as keogh wuld call it).

He's tough, but I'd be careful who he is matched up on. He doesnt have elite speed of some small forwards.

I doubt that would happen.

Its either Young 202 or SOS 194 playing CHB on Darcy 208 or Naughton 196. Weiters takes the other.

I wouldn’t mind putting Williams back into the backline. He is ok as a forward but we need his vision and delivery off half back. I might bring one of Moir or Durdin in to play forward or I might just leave the rest of the small forwards as is.

I’d have one of McGovern or Haynes, not both.
I suspect Yound stays in this week to help with the height of Darcy although there is a strong argument that we’re better off having a stronger, shorter, faster defender than a tall, indecisive one who will most likely get beaten in the air anyway…

Oh, and yes, I’d swing JSOS back. I do believe Weitering/JSOS can form a strong defensive backbone.
Docherty needs to be a lot cleaner. He has had a few games now, including practice games, to get his tough back. If e doesn’t have that, I’m not sure he can hold his position.

In: Harry, Boyd
Out: Haynes, Lord
Sub: Lucas or Docherty.
