Not sure what all the noise is about. Everyone knows criticism of umpires is a no no.

Freo supporters need to blame themselves not the umpires.

Talk of freos goals from frees is silly. I reckon every single one was there.

There were a couple missed but we as a football community get so caught up with free kicks and whataboutism because our game is ridiculous

Hollands subbed out and ice high near groin/upper leg

Williams was crucial late in the game , didn't see any injury to him

Williams was clutching his hammy mins before his dance. And then again at the end of the game.

21 days Id say.

Hollands is really slow twitch. I reckon he is another in the mould of Kennedy and Hewitt. I slow midfielder. Great tank. But not sure our team needs him.

My only problem with the HTB goals the ump gave to them was that they missed a few the other way. Some directly after the ones paid to freo.

Freo must of set a world record for smothers today. So bloody many.

Their pressure and intensity around the ball was very good all day. Had the better of our mids comfortably.

Different ways to win, scoring more on turnover and all that but our mids can’t lower their colours like that if we expect to achieve what we want this year.

I reckon our mids have a completely different ball up approach with TDK jumping all over the place than Pitto whose job really was just to get the ball to the deck.

I'm loving TDKs development and can't see Pitto playing a minute if TDK stays fit, but it's a totally different style. Reckons it's stopped our clearance dominance along with other sides really going to work on it knowing it's been massive for us last year.

Good coaching, building different tricks.

The Acres one wasn’t there. He handballed it!

Strangely confident throughout that we were going to run them down.

Could not have said that two years ago, possibly even last year for most of our killer run.

For all the bleating about the controversial finish - yawn...a barely discernible glance of the ball in real time, and a horribly timed dissent decision AFTER we were in front (no guarantee they would've caught us) - Freo, who played keepings off admirably for most of the game, were lucky we didn't nail a few more sitters (Harry! Blake!).

'A' for effort, Freo, but we still deserved the win for magically being a more efficient scoring machine despite poorer disposal. (No, I won't explain myself.)

Weiters huge as usual.
Kudos to the new dad for willing himself into every pack at the end, which successfully released a brilliantly elusive and quick-thinking Williams for the Charlie mark.
I think I left Boyd out of my votes but I liked a lot of his decision making and ball use. He's like a second Saad sometimes.
Was surprised Owies was the sub. I thought he was good last week and I hope it was a 'make a late impact' decision rather than a criticism. He played his part at the pointy end. And I do hope Elijah is okay. He wasn't having a stellar game but he's only warming up.

I wished our disposal was as good as Freo's early on, but I expected their quality to drop off under pressure (just like Bribane's) and thought we'd catch them eventually.

Did we have to wait so long though? Was it for old time's sake? Why hasn't there been more made of this new 'traditional' rivalry?

(And does it really mean anything winning our first game at that ground, as the drivelling heads kept banging on about, when it's not against an Adelaide team?)

Word is Walsh will be ready next week. Onwards and upwards! (Mind your back.)

hollands doesn't like a hot footy if his first 2 games are anything to go by... i was hoping he'd have pace to break a game open, that's what we really need to be recruiting. i would have gone so hard after liam henry just for that reason.

you see the impact saad has when he gets free. having another rapid player in that forward flank/ mid role would chnage the way we do things.

it's why (imo) we're not doing much of anything without a 100% fit and firing walsh.

Watching some of the highlights, id have thought the dropped mark from treacy was the killer for them. They probably would have iced the game right there if he hadn't spilled it like a bag of faeces

They strangled us.
Smashed us in clearances.
We made many clangers right in front of their goals (HTB) and right in front of our goals (missed easy opportunities (eg. Harry’s stuff up and Acres miss late amongst several others.
HOWEVER, we were never more than 2 goals behind and really could/should have been 3-4 goals up with 10 mins to go given the opportunities we had in the last.
We haven’t been all that convincing so far this year but I feel like this is different to this time last year. I’m hoping we are building - you don’t win a flag in April but we might just be scraping up the points required to give us a top 4 spot.
Moment of truth next week (we came into the Adelaide game last year with 3 wins and a draw) and then we get a full and detailed audit over the following 7 weeks:
GWS, Geel, Coll, Melbourne, Syd, Gold Coast & Port Adelaide!

So apparently Clark called a member of our cheer squad a "spastic" after they dropped the mark from a goal that went through.

Maybe he should just keep his mouth shut.

I don't know, but I'm thinking Clark's ''dissent'' towards the umpire escalated into personal abuse.
Just a thought.

Why was Fremantle wearing East Perth's jumper?

I thought they represented...... Fremantle?

How about next week they play in West Perth's or Claremont's guernsey?

The whole clash guernsey thing allows teams to wear the most ridiculous outfits. Let's maintain standards. Australian football doesn't have to copy other sports to the tee.
It isn't soccer and it isn't rugby. Maintain some differences if that is ok. When Carlton plays Brisbane, Collingwood, Essendon*, Footscray, Geelong etc...there is no "clash". If it is important for the nufties get them to wear white backs and white sides and white shorts and white socks, but maintain that navy blue front. I have waited 29 years to see Carlton competitive, and I want to see them competitive wearing navy blue.

But it's hearsay. I'd probably believe Donald Trump before I believed a member of the Carlton cheersquad.
