Yep.

I’ll add:
Cripps looked more mobile and has started off his season. Looks to be over the ankle.
Bad kicking for goal and our 2 main forwards didn’t work well at all today.
Motlop & Hollands will be very good players. Well done Austin and team.
Big thumbs up to Doc, Newman and JSoS.
Weitering is not his normal self and I feel that was Young’s worse game for us. McGovern - probably played one of his best. If only we can get them all on the same page.
IMO, Some disappointing efforts from the new brigade in Cerra and Acres. They seem to pick when to go and make too many mistakes.

Just awful footy and we are really lucky to be where we are on the ladder. Love Zac fisher but that cauliflower needs a month playing VFL and earn a spot

After we kicked 9.20 they certainly didn't lose it.

Harsh on Acres, that seemed a pretty significant shoulder injury in the first quarter, yet he still put his body on the line to contest a mark running with the flight, that aggravated the shoulder further. It was a brave effort to carry on, but it must have affected him.

9.20 reminds me of a John Cleese film from the 80s, Clockwise

I don't understand a lot of the commentary on today's game. Yes, we were ordinary, but we still had 10 more scoring shots and should have won by 5 goals. We'd have lost that game last year. I'm not suggesting we were good today, but we won after being headed and I think that's a real positive moving forward

The game played out the way I thought it would, I'm still not convinced we have the ability to control a game on the scoreboard. We have the ability to control parts of the game, just not on the scoreboard.

The main improvement I was hoping for over the off season was to learn how to play tempo footy, when to slow the game down and how to capitalise when we have the opposition on the ropes, like the first 15 minutes of the 3rd qtr today. We were all over them but the shots on goal were terrible. We should have put the game away then.

We seem to lack the killer instinct.

Weitering seemed very lackadaisical today, just half kicks, half efforts etc McKay the same, when having a shot on goal it looks like he is at training, takes about 10 seconds and then kicks and hopes for the best. Watch Riewoldt, Hawkins, Cameron, they actually think about what they need to do.

All we have done in the last 12 months is lifted from the bottom to become a team challenging for a spot in the 8. Yes we need to crawl before we walk but we haven't made it yet, I just hope that some players dont think that it will just happen or that we are now successful.

We got away with it today but behind closed doors I hope Voss reminds some of the players that we have a long way to go. Several players haven't cemented a position yet, top sides have a core of about 18 players that select themselves every week, we still have ? over several players.

I know we have taken many steps over the past 12 months and the year is young but we need to learn how to control a game of footy especially against the bottom teams, we don't want to be going deep into the last qtr being challenged every week.

The above may seem harsh however I cant say that I am confident against any team, let's hope I am wrong next week against a Team that will probably finish in the bottom four.

I’m guilty for reading into things too much, in all aspects of life, so take me with a grain of salt.

I’ve got a few scenarios floating about in my head.

I just get this feeling that 1. We are either trying to conserve energy and slow the game down for periods throughout the season so we get through the 23 rounds and not be all bashed up and spent come finals. or 2. We really struggle to find energy and desire when we’re playing in front of 5000 people and don’t have the adrenalin of the home crowd.

I won’t lie, I’m really happy we got away with this one.

Re point 2, that's interesting as the message from players and club staff is always about how much they feed off the crowds and love playing for them.

Yep. Agree and I thought Cerra was good as well. He's as tough as anyone out there.
Let's remember, he's also spending quite a bit of time at H/B recently so his numbers will be down.

A win on the road ? i will take that every day of the week . Great effort i thought . We controlled large parts of the game without reward . That will come i feel sure . And don't forget , GWS have some highly talented polished footballers who are very clean ball handlers . It was muddy , slushy , and very blustery . Conditions that where very foreign to us . A great effort for mine and something you can build on .

P S ............. Blake Acres was severely hampered with a bung shoulder for most of the game yet battled on to be one of our best . Superb effort under the circumstances . Thats G and D for you . To all you guys singing his praises prior to him coming to us i say great get guys . Far better player than i thought . A ripper . He sought of reminds me of a Shane O" pick of the nineties diamond in the rough type . You know , an Earl , Matty Hogg , Dean Rice type .

We are panic merchants.
We don't work as a team and are selfish.
Our skill level is low and have no idea how to punish the opposition.

If you think that we won today you are kidding yourself.
The only reason we got the points is because for all the skill they have they are worse than us.

you could argue anyside we beat - the reason is not cos we are good but that they are worse than us....

Awesome commentary by Huddo on player Daniels of GWS, twice

"Daniels....came storming through"

"Daniels....comes up Trumps"
