Didn't we win our last game in 2013 v Port to sneak into the finals via '9th' ?

We did. My wife told me she wanted to separate the next day (Fathers Day). #truestory

Our last game was against Sydney in 2013.

It appears we have several players with MULTIPLE injuries. e.g. Ed Curnow apparently has a 'knee' as well as a 'left knee' injury.

Poor Sam Kerridge, not only does he have an illness, he is ill. Not a great situation when you've got a test coming up.

On the positive side, whilst we learned that both C Curnow has a knee, Gorringe has a hip and Dick a hamstring, it appears that Buckley has a head - I'm glad we've cleared that up then.

Come on...out from under the woodwork, no one to post Dick and (head) in the same sentence??

Or Lamb (shoulder)

Looking forward to seeing what the MC do for the last round. I'd like to see the following:

Out:
Curnow (Knee)
Armfield
White
Everitt

In:
Kerridge/Whiley (depending on Kerridge' availability)
Tutt
Silvagni
McKay

I love Dennis like all true bluebaggers but he has been quiet over the last couple so I'm happy to give Tutt some reward for effort in the Magoo's. Granted, most believe he isn't AFL standard but we can't get rid of everyone at the same time and I'd probably give him an extra year, because I haven't quite given up on him yet. This selection is more about showing everyone battling on the list that they will be rewarded for hard work. That pressure for senior spots has to exist for us to move forward, even after the trade/draft period. If the depth players don't believe they have a chance at selection, there is no incentive for the extra 1%, and the senior players get complacent. I know we have list cloggers but there will always be young players working toward senior selection, and depth players on the fringe.

Kerridge or Whiley is a straight swap for Curnow in that gritty inside role/tagging etc. Not sure whether Kerridge is available or not so Whiley is the backup.

White hasn't done much wrong IMHO, but I want every possible game going into Silvagni, for our future. If he's baked for the year, I don't want to risk him so in that event, I'd leave White in. I can't fault his effort. McKay is in for the same reason, to give him a bit of motivation for pre-season 2017, while Everitt didn't do a great deal last week for me, and makes way. I think he has a role to play but we just don't have the rest of the puzzle to complete it.

I'm happy to leave Graham in. I think some of that poor decision making will become less frequent as he gets more games. If he runs out of time, then so be it. I don't care that he's a plodder because I like his ferocity at the contest. I'm also happy to leave Ritchie Cunningham in, to give him more exposure.

Like every week, I just hope we bring that fanatical pressure. Finish the season on a real positive note, and start day-dreaming and posting about trades, draft, de-listings, and next seasons expectations.

Go Blues

No! We don't pay for a 23-24 year old to play 1 senior game in a year. Our midfield depth is weak and we didn't need him.

I've given up on him.

Go Blues

I had to double check that 1 game because I thought I'd seen him more this year. Obviously not. I was also surprised to see he is actually 25 turning 26 early next season. I don't know why but I thought he was 23. Based on that, he really shouldn't be given another year at all. You are right. Still would have preferred to offer the game to a younger small forward that's developing, but we just don't have one, so Dennis gets another run!

If Ed is out give Whiley a go. If Ed is in drop Graham for Whiley just to have another look. Still young and has been playing well (reasonably) in the VFL.

Jack (if fit) for Everitt. No question.

I keep asking to give Gowers a game. This kid seems to have the makings of an AFL player but how are we to know if he isn't played. But who for, White probably although I would prefer Daisy on performance.

I agree McKay will come in but I believe it is a short sighted decision if it comes to fruition.
Anyone who has watched the VFL will agree he's not earned a call up and if he needs a game to give him an appetite for next season, we've picked the wrong player.
Others have been better performed and more deserving of a spot in the team.

Bolton has often talked about not gifting games, thats exactly what it will be. The message has been reasonably consistent. I fail to see the value in steering away from it for the last game.

Agreed, no experimentation please for a game against Essendon*, we need to pulverise them for the good of humanity so our strongest, most experienced team must play.

I vote we do a Jobe style sit-down protest at having to face Russian Football Club.

In : Kerridge & SOJ
Out: Curnow (inj) & Everitt

I wouldn't play McKay. Plenty of youth in the side as it is with SOJ, DC, Weitering, Sumner, Buckley etc. McKay has missed a lot of footy and looks to me like he would be better off finishing the season with a good hit out in the VFL and build to a big pre-season. Besides, I think to play him this week we'd need to drop Casboult or Jones - and it would seem odd to do that given they actually functioned reasonably well together last week.

If we're going to play a kid for the sake of playing a kid (which I am against, personally) I would throw Gowers in. He's had a solid VFL season and the club need to make a decision on him one way or the other in the coming weeks. He would be my choice if Kerridge or SOJ don't come up. His papers might have already been stamped, but he is one I wouldn't mind seeing get a chance before we make the final call to cut him.

Of course with the weird and wonderful ever changing rookie list rules, I'm not actually sure Gowers would be eligible for selection at this late point of the year?

Kerridge in for Curnow the only change I'd make. Armfield and Thomas were pretty unimpressive against the Demons, so based on the meritorious approach, Tutt could certainly make a compelling case for selection.

Agree with the above views that the idea of 'gifting' games doesn't quite fit with Bolton's overall philosophy.

Armfield has not been his usual self over the last 2 weeks and I think he's carrying a niggle, but Thomas has been hopeless over a longer period.

I don't care how much he is trying, and I can't do anything about what he costs to front up, but when I saw him struggle to chase last week and left for dead, I thought we should do the same. The previous week he had the opportunity to win the game for us after doing SFA against the Lions and failed. Forget about him. He is COOKED!!!!

Based on last week's performance Everitt and Graham did much better than Thomas.

Having said that, I'm not keen on Graham at all...not even for depth.

Don't have a link but got this quote from a Carlton Facebook supporters page.....

"Teenage key forward Harry McKay is likely to make his AFL debut against Essendon* on Saturday after an impressive display for the Northern Blues at Ikon Park last Saturday. If McKay, the No. 10 pick in last year's NAB AFL Draft, plays it will mean all of the Blues' 2015 draftees have been given a chance at the elite level this season. McKay, who was sidelined for the first half of the season with a stress fracture in his back, moved well despite having limited opportunities against Williamstown and kicked a goal. Jason Tutt was outstanding, gathering a team-high 32 touches. - Howard Kotton"
