CONS:-

Ruck - Can we cotinue to play Phillips and Kreuzer in the same side? I just don't think the 2-ruck combo works. Kreuzer though, is starting to string some games together. Maybe try him as a sole ruck? Perhaps he doesn't have the fitness? I don't know.
Levi - I said at the start of the year that minimum 30 goals would be a pass mark. He's nowhere near that. Just don't think he offers this team anything.
Everitt - Does bugger all, gets dropped. Shows brilliance in VFL, gets promoted back to seniors and then does bugger all again! It's like a freaken merry-go-round!
- FREE KICK HAWTHORN!!!!

Reasonable pros but you cons were way harsh!!

Ruck - Are you kidding me? Plenty of us have been saying or at least thinking what you just said but they were only just shaded 31 to 33 in the hitouts vs Big Boy McEvoy and Seglar that resulted in us winning the clearances 31 to 22 and they had 22 disposals between them to 16 and 8 marks between them to 7. Phillips didn't hit the scoreboard yesterday but has shown he can. They are far from perfect but don't deserve to be on a 'CON' list re yesterday.

Levi - Yes he has impacted the scoreboard less than we all hoped for him but to say he doesn't offer this team anything is just simply wrong. Only two Blues has more marks than him on the day even tho he spent time off the ground injured and played hurt most of this second half. His 4th quarter was very good.

Everitt - I couldn't agree more.

Sorry - maybe i didn't make it clear. I didn't mean to say that Phillips or Kreuzer were bad. Not at all, in fact I think Kreuzer had a fairly good game.

What I mean was that I don't think this 2-Ruck combo works for us. I didn't mean to portray MK or Phillips games as a negative.

I keep reading that view but what are our options?
No ruckman can ruck the whole game. Levi is obviously carrying a significant injury and can't relieve the ruckman.

Yeah ok I can see that when I read it again. But like the above post I don't really see a better option with Levi so banged up and Phillips is playing too well to drop.

Same problem as last week - no one can take marks inside our forward 50.

We had 15 marks inside 50 to their 13. Contested marks - 14 each.

More toilets and beer stalls on the outer side and we might have won this one.

Clarko being disingenuous me thinks. How many 23 years old and under did we have in this team?

How many 30+ year olds did the Hawks have? 300 gamers??

Forget the non praise for the blues effort but what the hell is the crap he's sprouting?

Good one Clarko

I don't know if that's the whole problem, I think our forwards may be running too far up the ground then when we get the ball on a fast break there is no one to kick it to and the defenders have dropped back and we give the ball back, that happens on numerous occasions, I think our forwards should be learning when to go up the ground and when to stay back

No. We just need more elite talent taken from the draft. ..we need 3 to 4 more years of good drafting to broaden our base then we can go after the omera types

Carlton still needs to be an attractive place.
To be a place of destination you need marquee players to the new to play alongside.

We were pretty good against the Hawks.
I did a hundred bucks on them, again, but I don't think we've been that far off the pace.
Do we play one ruck or 2 rucks it doesn't matter so much, they aint Goldsteins, but we've got them.
Its about adding a bit of cream to the mix.

I'd like to trade picks for ready made stars to add to Saturdays line up.
A couple of stars and plenty will follow.

Right this minute, of the players who played on Saturday, the ones who will be here in 2018:
(coz we are not that far off when we push the opposition: see last 3 weeks)

Midfield

Philips/ Kreuzer
Cripps/ Curnow
Gibbs Curnow
Boekhurst

KP

Weitering
Plowman
Casboult

Docherty
Silvagni
Kerridge
Wright
Tuohy
Buckley
Sumner

Add Murphy McKay and Jaksch to that...

Not bad... but what happens to those who aren't on that list Thomas, Rowe, Everitt, Graham and Sheehan who could be around.
Some may be tradeable for players or picks, and some may stick around.

Add 2 drafts/ trade periods

2016 Picks 4, 22, 42, 60, 78
2017 Picks 10, 28 48, 66, 84

IMO we need more than another 44 games worth of draftees to add bona fide stars from the draft alone.
From all those picks above, I'm sure we can add 2 ready made stars. We have been left behind in star stakes.
If we Trade In 2 stars, I bet 2 great players will come for a good price if we become a destination club.

+2. Three good efforts on the trot and we have some respect in the footy community.

But I thought Jordan Lewis was best on the ground. :banghead: I find it really annoying how media types feel obliged to populate the best 3 or best 5 with players from the winning side, regardless of whether they actually deserve it.
