I just want to see the following backline week in, week out to give them a chance to build coherence:

B: Jaksch Jamison Tuohey
HB: Byrne Henderson Docherty

DvR to rotate through HB eventually, and if Giles' leg comes good he may release Hendo to slot into a regular forward line.

For mine, we need to get a back 6 playing consistent football together, week in, week out.time to "get it right".

Agree with comments. I prefer Henderson in defence. I think Sheehan will come in once fit. Docherty to wing or midfield role.

and really ... we sound like we're in half decent shape with that back 6 and Doc running through the flanks.

Touhy to go into the middle is a no-brainer. can blanket/extract at the stoppages if required, or be released outside with run and a decent kick.

Our future HB's may be all Irish with Sheehan and Byrne..DVR I know little about ATM

I too like to see Docherty in the middle
Bell to play permanent wrecking ball HF (high and deep...almost a mid inside 50)

And despite views to the contrary, I'd have Watto up forward in the blink of an eye before Casboult, although I understand Cas is needed as a second ruck. Even Jacksh

Haven't got the stats but would love to know how many goal Cas has kicked whilst playing fwd. Would bet Watto would match that easily if given the same game time

Rowe is just a VFL footballer

Ellard and Carazzo...ta ta
Curnow might survive as a dedicated tagger

Forgot about Menzel; bring him in instead of Tutt if he's fit.

I think we can forget about Yarran for at least a week.

After the hatchet job the AFL Good Ole Boys Media Network have done on Yarran, whatever the penalty is you can add at least another week.

How are we $1.35 for this game.

Is Arnold Rothstein in charge at the Saints?

Then that's a serious problem...on many levels, players playing with niggles THAT are allowing it to get to them mentally

Happy to watch and see...

Appreciate your optimism Synbad...appreciate your inside info, but some of the play, set-ups and efforts I see don't look good....for players or coaching staff

It's all about habits. Under pressure people tend to revert to what they're used to.
In our case when the going gets tough they revert to west they have always been used to.
Not enough voice on the field to rally..

Totally disagree with negative view on casboults game. He split packs twice in the first half that caused goals and rucked for at least a qtr. I just sense he is on the verge of a big one. He needs to be left forward to play the Mclure role. Mclure was not a goal kicker. Rowe to 2nd ruck

It's not just that he doesn't kick goals.. But to me he's just useless in the modern game

which is testimony to where we are as a club, as cas is by far and away our best option as a rotating ruck & forward.

with jamison's decline, jacksh need to somewhow find an extra 10 kilos and rowe's complete inability to play AFL level defense ... we probably need a key defender more than a forward.

think about that for a second.

Anyone know if Whiley is slow, quick? Haven't seen much of him, but can't ignore him putting his hand up now surely?
up here in Sydney when with GWS he was described as the Tasmanian Devil in Bugs Bunny. Love that line.

He's tenacious.

He gets around ok and links up really well.

Hasn't got express pace but is strong and elusive.

Been waiting for this kid to show his stuff in Navy Blue.
He will maul the Saints if he plays. Perfect game for him and Tutt to find their stride in AFL...and possible lead up to the Pies.

Remember though, he didn't get a preseason in due to Achilles but seems to have almost caught up in fitness ( not almost) if you look at his stats plus the fact he's playing a lot of minutes each game over 4 quarters.

Fitness staff will know if he's fit enough.
