Sure we can make a lot of excuses for that debacle. Players are mentally shot, injuries, nothing to play for etc and there is good basis for those excuses, I expected us to lose, but not like that. Lets not forget we were playing a side that has won only two of its last seven games and those two wins were over Melbourne (3 points) and Gold Coast (9 points).

They were pretty good.

I think MM has made it clear that he wants Stevo to ask questions in the presser, not make statements

This was an Awesome Game as far as Mick is concerned, because it gave him the perfect opportunity to see who is up to AFL Standards and who is not. From what I saw tonight, those players should never be at the Club next year. In fact, they should just be delisted and made available for Free to all other Clubs. They are:

1- Lucas: Enough is enough. A 1st round pick? how did we get it so Wrong?

2- Nick Graham: A School boy who will Smash it every week at VFL, but is not an AFL player.

3- Blaine Johnson:
Amature league at best

4- C.Sheehan: Needs years to develop into an AFL player. Do we have the time and resources to keep him on our list for that long? I say NOT.

5- Warnock: Should never play again. Wood sealed his fate and made him look below amature level

6- Watson: Another Wasted Pick- Never going to make it

7- McLean: Your time is up. Its only going to be a slide down from here. Retire and save yourself some Credit

8- Tom Temay
: Who is this guy? pleaseeeeeeeeeee clean some space

9- Giles:
Long term project. 3-4 years away from Senior football. Is he Worth it? I say NOT

10- McInnes:
oh Please........Another D Grader who will stay there. OUT

11- Gartlett: Still the best Forward in our club in my books, and has far more talent and football smarts than the hacks we are playing right now, But Mick does not want him, so no point in keeping him on the list. Set him Free

That's 11 players that should GO. Is Mick prepared to make such a big Clean out?

I also have some serious question marks for:

1- Armfield: Has talent but has stopped Growing and developing. Has some serious deficiencies in his game

2- Bell:
Is a true Athlete, but lacks a Football Brain. Does not do enough, and his disposal is poor. Maybe we should persist with him and hope he will develop late.

3- Ellard: Too Injury Prone. Has what it takes but does not play enough games due to injury

4- Carrazo: Perhaps he should consider retirement.

5- Simon White: A C Grader, an average player who is just not developing into something better. Will become a liability in a year or two if he doesn't improve

6- Thomas: Big Risk with his foot. Will it ever heal? will he ever be back to his old form? give him another pre-season and let's see

7- Holman: A school kid. Not ready yet. needs another 2-3 years of development.

8- Cripps:
have not seen much of him this year, but looked very Slow. He is a ball magnet. I seriously pray that he will not become a Victim of our 1st round stuff ups.

9- Robinson: Guts, courage, has a go, but in reality he is not a Footballer.

That's 20 players in total. Half of our List LOOL. Well that's what it takes to rebuild this club. Remove half of it and bring in 20 new fresh faces LOL

Only 8 of the names you've mentioned played tonight.

Not really following how this game helped Mick make decisions on a bunch of guys who didn't play in it but there you go...

Mark Stevens is paying for being a consummate flog, if the Herald-Sun want to keep sending him in to press conferences that's what he's going to get.

Mark Stevens really deserves the Gordan Strachan responses.

Although Mick is treading on thin ice using the word brave without the word Essendon* in the same sentence, lucky for Mick that Essendon*'s lawyers are otherwise engaged.

You are funny, SB. Carlton had written many a 'best seller' before Mick was anywhere near the club but you only decided to become a critic in the last two years? :-P

I wonder what Stevo did to ignite this ongoing hatred?
I also wonder if any rellies of MM's are in the same boat as Stevo.
(Oh, the Oregon branch of Malthouses? No, we don't talk to them. Haven't since great great grandpa Jed stole one of his brother's goats.)
I was really hoping Stevo was gonna confront him on it, and provide some post game entertainment for us all.
Mebbe next week?

(whether you like MM as our coach or not, you have to admit he's incredibly immature in this situation. I think Stevo is an A grade git, but that is not the point.)

Surely mark Stevens didn't ask those questions...

How did Mick respond and what was his general message and demeanor ?

Pretty similar to these:

Here's our top 20 classic quotes from the new Scotland coach Gordan Strachan:

Reporter: "Gordon, can we have a quick word please?"
Strachan: "Velocity" (walks off).

I've got more important things to think about. I've got a yogurt to finish by today, the expiry date is today. That can be my priority rather than Agustin Delgado.

Reporter: "Bang, there goes your unbeaten run. Can you take it?"
Strachan: "No, I'm just going to crumble like a wreck. I'll go home, become an alcoholic and maybe jump off a bridge. Umm, I think I can take it, yeah."

"I tried to get the disappointment out of my system by going for a walk. I ended up 17 miles from home and I had to phone my wife, Lesley to come and pick me up."

Reporter: "Gordon, do you think James Beattie deserves to be in the England squad?"
Strachan: "I don't care, I'm Scottish."

Reporter: "Gordon, you must be delighted with that result?"
Strachan: "You're spot on! You can read me like a book!"

Reporter: "Welcome to Southampton Football Club. Do you think you are the right man to turn things around?"
Strachan: "No. I was asked if I thought I was the right man for the job and I said: 'No, I think they should have got George Graham because I'm useless.'"

Reporter: "There's no negative vibes or negative feelings here?"
Strachan: "Apart from yourself, we're all quite positive round here. I'm going to whack you over the head with a big stick. Down negative man, down!"

On good friend and former Aberdeen teammate Alex McLeish: "We even competed for the acne cream when we were younger. Obviously, I won that one."

Reporter: "So, Gordon, in what areas do you think Middlesbrough were better than you today?"
Strachan: "What areas? Mainly that big green one out there..."

Talking about Wayne Rooney: "It's an incredible rise to stardom. At 17 you're more likely to get a call from Michael Jackson than Sven Goran Eriksson."

On Eric Cantona's bizarre press conference: "If a Frenchman goes on about seagulls, trawlers and sardines, he’s called a philosopher. I’d just be called a short Scottish bum talking crap."

“Pahars has also caught every virus going except a computer virus and he is probably working on that even now.”

Reporter: "This might sound like a daft question, but you'll be happy to get your first win under your belt, won't you?"
Strachan: "You're right. It is a daft question. I'm not even going to bother answering that one. It is a daft question, you're spot on there."

Talking about being attacked by a Celtic fan while an Aberdeen player in 1980: "It's always great fun getting attacked. One of the highlights of my career. The fella who beat me up got fined £100 for that but they had a whip-round in the pub and he got £200!"

On his cooking ability: "It's embarrassing, I'm not proud of it. I can't even make myself anything to eat. I had to phone her and she said, 'I've left something to put in the microwave'. An hour later and I'm asking, "Where's the microwave?""

Reporter: "Is that your best start to a season?"
Strachan: "Well I've still got a job so it's far better than the Coventry one, that's for sure."

Reporter: "You don't take losing lightly, do you Gordon?"
Strachan: "I don't take stupid comments lightly either."

“I have discovered that when you go to Anfield or Old Trafford, it pays not to wear a coloured shirt because everyone can see the stains as the pressure mounts. I always wear a white shirt so nobody sees you sweat.”

On Sir Alex Ferguson while at Aberdeen: "He used to play tapes of Bill Shankly talking. I remember that and a singer he liked. I don't know who it was but it was crap. He played it on the team bus too, and all the boys hated it. Until one night it got chucked away. If he's still wondering who threw that tape off the bus, it was me. So maybe he was right and I'm not to be trusted."

Not a lot we could do about tonight. From the first, when we started kicking sideways around halfback I thought we're either going to be rock solid, or Port are going to force turnover after bloody turnover and punish us all night long.
Haven't lost any faith as such, even after such a belting. We have had a pretty good run of late, and again, without much reward for the effort, but the positive energy about the place and the realisation the season is over, lets start preparing for next year, has strangely boosted performance of the group as a whole over the last few weeks.

I see tonight as nothing more than another classic example of Carlton at its worst. Teams have these games from time to time, especially when they've had a good run and strung a few games together. Unfortunately we haven't strung wins, just good performances. But its a start, and I still have hope 2015 will be a much improved season than the nightmare 2014 turned out to be ...

Stevens has made it clear he intends to bait him before the presser a couple of times.

MM has been poor until recently but That might irritate me if I was a coach.

The TV stations demand this access they might consider not using it an opportunity for petty vindictiveness.

We were teetering for most of the first, without Port hurting us on the scoreboard. Would have taken 2.6 to 1.2, but 3 late goals in red time ended any hope.

After that it all got too hard.
