So the umpires is only good when it falls Geelongs way

That free was that late because Scott rang the umpire and left a message on his voicemail. Only once the cauliflower checked his messages from the back pocket did he decide Scott might have been on to something and blew his whistle.

I'd like to jam that @#$%&! whistle in the end of his @#$%&!

I thought the same. Was the score board at the ground showing us in front?

Seriously guys, we were out on our feet and even if we did take it the length of the ground and goalled we still would not have won. And don't blame the player who kicks it sideways.

If he has no one working for him, then the only way to retain possession is the sneaky one to the pocket.

Besides the umpires, Casboult and White cost us tonight.

Both ineffectual.

Important thing tonight is that we ended up winning the contested ball against the masters.

And won the tackling as well.

First 15 minutes in the opening quarter we were hammered in these areas. At one stage it was 40 contested balls to about 15 in favour of the cats.

To turn it around, with a reduced bench was a big effort

Just the last minute was ridiculous to say the least. Holding onto to the ball in the backline whilst being 6 points down. no urgency by Touhey. Nobody making position. And decided to switch sides and go along the wings - sure way to NOT get a goal. Looked like they stuck to process and structures rather than playing on instinct and taking a risk to try and win or draw the game. Silly. Need to watch it again on replay

can anyone explain the difference between that last crap decision to geelong and the non-decision to menzel (again) in an incident that wrecked his shoulder.

cats went through the centre corridor a few times in those dying minutes to create scoring chances.

We switched sides and went along the wings. I dont think it was due to tired legs. Going the long way along the wing would make tired legs even worse. Decision making and risk taking. stuck to process and structures rather than instinct and risk taking

We are a boring team now. If we were winning at least the boring riskless style would be tolerable.

Just would have been nice to lose on merit instead of from that free kick. Texted my Geelong mate at 3 qtr time and said a soft free will give it to the Cats. Cant fault the endeavour especially with nothing to play for. Rowe was very good. Gibbs keeps playing well. Docherty will be a player. Casboult... Conundrum. Taylor was bloody good. Pick in the low twenties or can he take his game up another notch? Yarran's lazy disposal cost a couple of times. Our switching of play is a lot better though.

The Rowe bump was the worst decision. It was a picture perfect bump on the chest.

That has signalled the end for me. The umpire saw a bump and paid a free against. It's dead.

He ran past the ball to shepherd for the other oncoming player and block selwood from the ball, with a perfectly legal bump.

I just don't understand what the free was for???????

there were heaps of them all night

I agree with this. The umps just had a poor night in general. We got some as well. Really poor end to the game but they probably had us anyway. To coin a Bombers trademark... it was a very brave effort!

Do umpires pay holding the man any more - virtually every time one of our forwards went for a mark a geelong defender had his arms around him. or are they jst being friendly trying to keep our players warm on a cool night?

Looks like I picked a good night to go to my 1979 HSC class reunion, instead of watching us on the end of a good old fashioned reaming.

I don't blame the umpires, I blame the rules committee.

They should throw out every single rule made over the past 8 years. Collectively they have been of detriment to the game. The ambiguity and overlapping they have construed is what is killing the game.

Impossible to umpire when you can infringe 30 different ways each contest

Wood has also improved the side around the ground without losing anything at stoppages.
