Football is about the here and now not what is happening down the track
You have to put yourself into the best position to win as many games as possible then give yourself a crack at it.
Supporters are fooled by this building for the future crap.
We are not a GwS or GC we haven't been given a bunch of kids
Malthouse was handed a list of players including 10 top 10 draft picks all approaching their age where they peak

He took us backwards

If you cant understand that its not my problem

Football is about results we ain't getting them

My 23 month old daughter has been doing the toilet training thing for the last few weeks. Apparently, so my wife was told, at 23 months of age kids are ready to throw away the nappy.
So up she got a few weeks ago. Threw away all the nappies because they are for little girls, and put on underpants for the first time.
She took to it like a dream. All we heard from day one was "wee wee , wee wee" and "poo poo, poo poo". I didnt realise they went so often.

During the last two weeks she misfired on some occasions, but for the most part it was going rather well.
Than on Monday of this week, she misfired all day. For no apparent reason.Just misfired. All day and night.Accidents everywhere.Disaster.
Mummy must have changed her "big girls underpants" 15 times during that day and night.

Late on Monday evening, whilst the little darling was asleep and preparing to wet the bed again in a few hours time, we conviened our board meeting and after much debate finally decreed to keep the message the same.
We knew that if we stayed consistant and postive with the message, she would get it eventally and be heading in the right direction again in no time. Had we changed our approach on Monday, we would have set the little darling back weeks if not months with our mixed messages. It was vital to keep the message the same. We thought it best not to change our approach just because the results of the day were negative. We were after the long term results After all baby number two is only months away. This just has to work.

Since Tuesday morning we have only had two accidents.
She took a step back on Monday, but she got the hang of it again pretty quickly since Tuesday and has been so proud of herself. I wouldnt say we have nailed it just yet, but we are well on the way.

Sometimes you just have to regress to progress.

Great post Dags. Rippa really.

Have a kid story with the dummy and same results with the wee-ning and wee-ning.
Kid no 2 was never given the dummy and never wee-ned.

....is that we have no depth on our list and it will take till 2017, assuming we recruit/trade well before we are truly competative.

In 2012 it showed we were too reliant on our best players and when injuries struck we were shit.
Depth has improved ... But only slightly. Most weeks we lament the lack of players screaming for a call up from the bullants. As everyone here agrees, drafting and development have been very poor.

A change in game plan, the return to fitness of ageing stars and the improvement in certain players have made us competitive again in the last month but this is not sustainable with current list. The hard bodies that mick loves in the shape of carrots, judd and McLean are short term fixes. Unless we replace these with new players quickly, we will not make finals.

I think we are improving.
The game plan is much more flexible, sometimes there seems not to be one, or it falls apart, but on the whole, it looks promising.
I've said all year, it looks like we are 2 or 3 super talented players away from a top 6 finish.
We'll unload a bit more dross, and bring in some more talent.
I'm hopeful Daisy will really shine next year. Soo glad Juddy is going on.
Walks should be fab again without injuries, and a full pre season.
Waitey should stay, and perhaps be manged with less games like Judd will be.
Remember he has some ongoing degenerative disc issues.
Anyway, I reckon we could zoom up into top 6 next year.
MM seems to be making an effort to be friendlier, so I'm going to do that too.

No depth, yes its tempting to write us off that way. But who was missing from our last win?
Kreuzer
Walker
Yarran
Robinson
Garlett
Buckley
Henderson
Everitt
Cripps

This.

plus padre's last post, listing players missing.

plus a draft/ trade period. What will we get for Waitey?
What will we get for Garlett? (if we let him go)

Henderson
Everitt
Cripps yet to prove he's in our best 22

Really? Currently 7 goals down against a team which has lost 2 major players to injury this match.
