A better draft pick at the end of the year.

This.

Didn't include Robinson because he keeps getting suspended and that's his fault
Also walker is another but obviously hasn't had best season

Frustrating, but as mentioned the points dont count to anything. Missing a few best 22 guys as well.

What is pleasing now is so many things that we've criticised for years are changing:

eg The team is structured more like a Premiership side than ever before.

No more "ruckman as forwards", "Setanta and little helpers", or under size and under strength key defenders in the likes of Bower and Thornton.

Less reliance on individual brilliance. Less flakiness. Effort is more consistent.

Dont look like a team of midgets any more.

Aren't as easily pushed off the ball. Holding our own in contested possession.

Not giving up the corridor on a regular basis. Flying the flag and supporting a heavily tagged onballer.

More competitive against the top 4 sides.....

But the skill level is as poor as it's been in recent times. Everyone knows the usual culprits, but on top of that some of the better users in Docherty and Yarran were also down. Still not sold on Bell.

Clearly effort is being rewarded at the expense of guys such as Lucas and Garlett.

Not sure what to make of our ruck dilemma. Wood smashed in hitouts, yet we broke even in clearances and killed them in scores from centre. In the end how much difference does it make? Probably shows that a fit Kreuzer with his follow up work is still our most important big man.

Better game from Thomas and credit to Murphy who had 18 contested possessions out of 21. Simpson solid down back, great job by Curnow on Hill and despite the brain fart, Zac was OK on Ballantyne.

One that got away. We were the better team for most of the night.
I rarely gob on our players, but if Ellard ever plays for Carlton again there is something really wrong with our forward thinking. Not just tonight, but regularly he can't kick a goal from 30m. If Jeffy was there we would have won easily.
I still can't work out why we dropped Dylan Buckley way back when. He is our future - not a spud like Ellard.
Despite having flower TV comentators rating him as having the best hands in the competition the Bolt couldn't catch a cold tonight. When will the consistency come ?
If Judd doesn't go on you would have to ask why. He has plenty left. Malthouse should be begging him to go on instead of his ambivalent crap comments about players not playng one year too many.
Kade Simpson is our best player week in week out.
Wood has been a bit unlucky to run into two monsters in two weeks. I would still have him ahead of Warnock who has a habit of ramming it down the throat of an opponent on a regular basis and his mark a month record is pretty unimpressive for someone at 207cm.
Bell was ordinary. Tries hard but needs to improve skills.
Curnow alwas does his job and is underrated by many. Hill did nothing tonight.
Docherty's disposal was pretty average, being kind to him. Not what we were told when he was recruited.
Zac seems to give away a stupid free kick or 50m every single week. When you lose by a goal or less ???
Yarran is all class. We need to get the ball in his hands as much as possilbe.
Unfortunately Gibbs had a quiet one.
Daisy played his best Carlton match. At least when he gets the ball you think that there is a good chance that it will go to a Carlton player, unlike a few of them.
Waite had a good game.
Henderson still drops too many marks. Has improved but not enough. If he held everything he got his hands to he would be an all Australian.
Graham was average tonight but needs a decent run at it. He will be OK.
The pacy Brock as sub ? Work that one out.

Lost the unloseable, but with a side with so many unskilled players that will happen more often than not.

Great coaching from Mick.....I dare anyone to say otherwise. He is getting this team to play the way he wants, and has also tweaked the gameplan. The bombing along the boundary is a thing of the last mainly.

Casboult WTF, he had a mare. Ellard is just so VFL it isn't funny but he tries his guts out. Worried about Docherty's disposal - not the first game he's killed us with poor execution and average decision making, so sadly the jury is out on him.

Judd is playing great footy in the twilight, and Murph did about as well as anyone can with that leach on his back all night.

And it was refreshing to see the umps not scared to pay the frees against the home team over there, even though there were a few that weren't paid and a few softies that went to them in the last.

Draft picks wise a great result

To me Walker plays well anywhere but in defence but we kept playing him there.

Casboult takes that mark, and we never have to see how much Wood can shit the bed.

Docherty doesn't kick OOB?

Throw in robbo.
He walks into this side . don't underestimate his form recently.
Still we lack a midfield and definitely depth.

Everitt wouldn't have subdued Fyfe but he would've gone better than Carrazzo I reckon.

Walker would've been handy too. Walker out means we can move Yarran around as much.

Judd's ankle injury didn't help either.

There was one passage of play where Waite grabbed the ball with one hand, ran around 2 Freo players, threw it on his boot and it went up and under.

That play captured Waite's career perfectly.

He may not have been BOG like last week, but he did back it up by playing the right way.

Good point.

Will put away my pistol.

Actually, could you use it on Fyfe? He slaughtered us tonight.

Plus 1 NBH.
How desperate was Jamo to let no one beat him when Fyfe picked his pocket?
How desperate was Thomo to take a brave defensive mark?
Can't believe how quickly Levi lost his confidence tonight...

But this team has come a long way and I'm pleased with that. The list of outs is a pretty good one - but I reckon just Menzel's coolness would have been enough to get us over the line.

I thought we had the better of the umpiring for most of the night

...right up until about half way through the last when they decided to even things up a bit

Thought the same re Everitt/Fyfe due to Everitt being a better match in the air and around the ground, but in the end it was Fyfe's stoppage and inside work that did most of the damage. 13 clearances, next best was Barlow with 4.

He's nearly untaggable. Wallis was the only one that's got hold of him this year, and that was mainly due to Fyfe rolling an ankle in the first few minutes which affected him all game.

Ridiculous footballer.

Just back from the game. Know where we are at but that flower hurt. Would of dearly loved to win that.

My 10 yr old son is heartbroken. Barely said a word the whole way home. Poor little guy.

Our lack of class and poise unfortunately is all too obvious.

Many moments but our poor conversion in the second, Dohertys OOF and of course Wood stand out. I was right behind those goals and as soon as he kicked it I knew where it was going. It was literally like slow motion.

Just numb and speechless immediately after the final siren. Much like the 2011 SF.... :banghead:  :hitcomputer:

Honourable losses can eat a dick.

And had to put up with pissed ferals in my ear after the final siren. Gald I had my kids with me otherwise I'd probably have woken up with a crowd around me.
