Apart from what I've already said the only benefit I can see is driven by the mindset 'we'll do better 'next year'

I have grave concerns over that mindset.

If the idea is 'Menzel is buggered and needs a rest' then rest him

is the idea is 'these games are worth nothing so lets play it safe with Menzel' then that's [REDACTED].

This type of slight is alien in the more cultured part of the world - Walsh. Its up there with mad dogs, Englishmen and the midday sun!

..not for me, if I thought Menz was right to go I'd say yes play him.... ..but I don't think he is.. ....I can still see us playing him, cos he will be fit enough to play, I just doubt he will be fit enough to play well all game.. ..I think you still need to manage the kids, mature seasoned bodies can handle the game week after week..
